The Digimental of Knowledge (知識のデジメンタル Chishiki no Dejimentaru; Dub: Digi-Egg of Knowledge) is a Digimental that is used to induce Armor Evolution.

Overview[edit]

Design[edit]

Like other Armor Evolution Digimentals, the Digimental of Knowledge is a bulky, loosely egg-shaped object. It is shaped like and patterned after the body armor of one of the Digimon created by using it, Digmon, and has the tip of one of its drills poking out of its top. Its corresponding Crest, the Crest of Knowledge, is inscribed on its surface.

Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

The Digimental of Knowledge is one of the first five Digimentals that the Four Holy Beasts chose to provide to a new group of Chosen Children in order to stop the Digimon Kaiser. They had it placed in a Mayan pyramid in the Digital World, together with the Digimental of Love, sealing away Armadimon to be awoken once the intended Chosen Child arrived.^[12]

During their second expedition into the Digital World, Tentomon and Piyomon lead Hida Iori, Inoue Miyako, Izumi Kōshirō and Takenouchi Sora to the pyramid and the Digimentals when they notice their D-3s reacting. Despite being the owner of the Crest of Knowledge, Kōshirō is unable to lift the Digimental of Knowledge, but realizes that Iori might be able. Iori successfully takes the Digimental and releases Armadimon and, following Hawkmon's instructions, uses it to Armor Evolve Armadimon into Digmon.^[7]

Hida Iori uses the Digimental of Knowledge to Armor Evolve Armadimon into Digmon in the final encounter with Chocomon at Summer Memory.

Digimon Adventure 02: Armor Evolution to the Unknown[edit]

After the Chosen Children's D-Terminals are mixed up by Kido Jo colliding with the group, Yagami Hikari hurriedly takes Hida Iori's D-Terminal and, without knowing whose D-Terminal it is, initiates an Armor Evolution. Because of this, Tailmon uses Iori's Digimental of Knowledge to Armor Evolve into Butterflamon.^[11]

In the drama CD's omake, Izumi Kōshirō uses the Digimental of Knowledge to Armor Evolve Tentomon into Jiko Tyumon.^[11]

Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers[edit]

The Digimental of Knowledge is an obtainable item of the Armor category. Equipping it on a Digimon has three possible effects:

If equipped by a Armadimon (including the temporary partner Armadimon), it teaches Armadimon the Gold Rush Armor Evolution technique the next time that a battle is won. After this point, as long as the Digimental is equipped, Armadimon can use Gold Rush to briefly Armor Evolve into Digmon, who performs the technique before immediately reverting back into Armadimon.
It increases the equipper's resistance to Blow techniques.
Like any other Digimental, having it equipped on Digimon will, depending on their Digitama line, cause them to evolve into a different Adult, Perfect or Ultimate Digimon than they would have without a Digimental equipped.

The Digimental of Knowledge is the only Digimental that the player can receive in an already complete state: it can be found in a chest in the Sea Cave 2 dungeon on Akiyama Ryo's side. Knowledge Fragments can also be found in the Detached Cave and Machine Base dungeons, both on Ichijouji Ken's side, and rebuilt into more Digimentals of Knowledge at Centalmon's Digimental Shop. Alternatively, the player may receive it by trading with compatible video and LCD games.

Digimon Adventure 02: D-1 Tamers[edit]

The Digimental of Knowledge is an obtainable item of the Digimental category. Equipping it on a Digimon has two possible effects:

If equipped by a Armadimon (including the temporary partner Armadimon), it grants access to the Gold Rush Armor Evolution technique in Armadimon's sixth technique slot. When used, Armadimon briefly Armor Evolves into Digmon, who performs Gold Rush before immediately reverting back into Armadimon.

The Digimental of Knowledge is an unlockable which is acquired for one Partner Card. Once it has been acquired, the player is given the option to, when playing the following Partner Card, use the Digimental to Armor Evolve it free of charge:

The Digimental of Knowledge is a key item, which can be used at certain holes in the ground on the overworld to summon a Digmon in order to carry the player through the Underground.

The Digimental is found in the Zhuque Underground Lake, and is accessible after defeating the Zhuque Chief.

The Digimental of Knowledge is a collectible item that the player uses in battle to Armor Evolve their Digimon. All six playable Digimon are capable of using it:

To obtain the Digimental of Knowledge, the player must first collect three fragments of it via the Search function. Its fragments are available in the following Areas:^[13]

D-3 Version 1: Areas 2 and 3
D-3 Version 2: Areas 1 and 2
D-3 Version 3: Areas 1 and 3

Alternatively, the player may receive it via trade with compatible games and devices.

D-Terminal[edit]

Digimentals of Knowledge may be created through the fusion of the following combinations of either Digimon from the Reference Book, or other Digimentals:^[14]

D-3 Digivice (International)[edit]

The Digi-Egg (Digimental) of Knowledge is a collectible item that is used in battle to Armor Digivolve (Armor Evolve) Armadillomon (Armadimon) into Digmon. Unlike the Japanese D-3 line, none of the other playable Digimon may use it.

Using the Digi-Egg of Knowledge does not incur a D-Power point cost and can be done without limitation, but if used, there is a small chance that it may break after a battle, regardless of its outcome, requiring it to be re-obtained.

It is obtained by random chance in "Get Digi-Eggs" map events.
