Kanada Genjo is the main antagonist of Digimon Beatbreak. He was the second "Gold" member of the Five Stars known as "Genjo the Adamantine", and holds Tenma Asuka's life on the line for most of the series.
He was later revealed to be a disguised rogue Sanzomon[2].

Sanzomon[edit]
A Monk-type Digimon who leads Gokuwmon, Cho·Hakkaimon, and Sagomon. Although possessing no weapons, Sanzomon unleashes various techniques by chanting sutras. These include the "To Shishun-kyou", which revives the conscience within the hearts of corrupted Digimon by subjecting them to an endless stream of sacred teachings; the "Kochou Mu-kyou", which manifests and unleashes the trials Sanzomon herself endured; and the "Mugen Danmaku Shin-kyou", which breaks the opponent's spirit by conjuring an illusion of scattered prayer beads attacking endlessly from every direction.
Personality[edit]
Genjo is a trickster and a saboteur proficient in convoluted schemes and espionage, being able to fool Chairman Wong for years, prevent Klay Arslan from realizing his involvement in his downfall, and observe fights completely undetected until it is too late. He has no qualms harming humans and sacrificing other Digimon and will use whatever means to remove any obstacles that get in his way, even underhanded tactics.
As one of the three disguised Digimon that had infiltrated the World Union, Genjo is strong enough to intercept a normal human's fists by using only one hand.[3] Sanzomon itself can also disrupt television broadcasts. [4]

Digimon Beatbreak[edit]
Genjo occupied the seat of "Gold" after Sawashiro Kyo left. Out of the Five Stars, he is the one who directly answers and reports to Chairman Wong. He appears to be interested in Asuka's e-pulse, apparently under Chairman Wong's orders to use him as a conduit for the White Core for his own ambitions.
In "Glowing Dawn", Genjo managed to track down Asuka's e-pulse from a Hyemon through unknown means and ordered Gokuwmon to steal it. He has personally kept Asuka's e-pulse since then.
Genjo first appears in-person near the end of "A New Family", where it was heavily implied that he released the Marin Bullmon fought in that episode and controlled it to attack the Glowing Dawn base. He was observing the fight atop a building and was confronted by Kutsuna Kaito, who believes that he let it out and reprimands him that he is going out of line. Genjo refuses to answer directly and only claims that he saw a good show. Kaito told him that he could not stand him, which prompted Gokuwmon to almost attack him only to be called off by Genjo. He then leaves, telling him that they will meet again in the Five Stars Meeting next day. Kaito confronts him about the Marin Bullmon again there, but he continues denies the accusations and the two almost broke into an argument. Chairman Wong then reprimands him of it and tells the two to cease before any argument can commence.
After Klay Arslan's Digimon auction was thwarted by Glowing Dawn, Genjo began enacting plans to manipulate his downfall. He summoned Gokuwmon to approach Tomoro by using Asuka's Sapotama as bait, then throwing him to Klay's Hidden Coliseum expecting that Kyo and the rest of Glowing Dawn will intervene, something that went all according to plan. He then leaked the client list for all of Klay's illegal businesses, causing him to be kicked off the Five Stars as Wong declares him a bounty.
Following Kuroshio Souji's downfall, Kishiwada Kanchi appeared in Apraxas offering the White Core to Wong in exchange of the Five Stars. Wong agrees with allowing him in his ranks and uses him to fill Klay Arslan's vacancy, but Genjo interjects him believing that Kanchi might be dangerous. Wong tells him that he trusts him to keep the newcomers in check, and he goes along in the plan. With the pieces of the Shangri-La Project in his own hands, Genjo orders Nishino Senka to pose as a nurse to send Asuka out of hospital to put him under the World Union's control, then orders Gokuwmon to pass over Asuka's Sapotama, which he uses to revive the Digimon housed within the White Core, Helios Boamon. With Asuka under his control, Genjo has him and Helios Boamon attack Tomoro to get his e-pulse too. Glowing Dawn tries to fight them, but was outmatched and they run as he and Gokuwmon watch the brief confrontation. On the next day where Glowing Dawn goes to save Asuka, Genjo watches by the sidelines until the three party members fight Helios Boamon. They were almost successful in defeating it only for him to order Gokuwmon to intervene before they could land any finishing blow, who easily defeats Scourge Chiropmon and Bearcatmon. An enraged Tomoro screams at Genjo asking him what plan did he have with his brother, of which he only responds that his e-pulse was required for the Shangri-La Project without further elaborating. Further angered, Tomoro tries to punch Genjo, only to be stopped with only a single hand. Genjo then orders Asuka to land the final hit on Monarch Lizarmon and drain Tomoro's e-Pulse, which they did, and Helios Boamon evolves into Albatusmon.
Kyo then arrived to the scene to confront Asuka and save him while creating a portal to let his fellow teammates escape Albatusmon. Genjo watches the two duel, but Kyo ran out of e-pulse to power Habakirimon and it reverts to Murasamemon. The two fought for a while with Asuka clearly in the upper hand only for Genjo to ambush Kyo through Gokuwmon, burning off Kyo's right arm and creating an opening for Albatusmon to kill Murasamemon by stabbing him at the chest. The action destroyed Glowing Dawn's spirit for a while until a confrontation between them and Senka reignited it.
After Rose announced her mutiny and Kaito and Honoka followed suit, Genjo told Wong that he has already dispatched the new Star of Wood to deal with Glowing Dawn. By this point, it was heavily implied that all of the pieces are set for the World Union's downfall from within.
With their resolve re-ignited, Glowing Dawn and Tactics Team 7 go to confront Genjo and Chairman Wong one last time for Asuka. Tactics Team 7 is interrupted by Senka and Kanchi interrupts Reina and Makoto, leaving only Tomoro to fight Genjo and Gokuwmon. Monarch Lizarmon manages to overwhelm Gokuwmon as Tomoro takes advantage of the distraction to spray the paint Tenma Tasuku gave to him, only for Kanchi's water to wash away the paint and Gokuwmon to defeat Monarch Lizamon with his strongest attack Higi: Mugen'ei, reverting him back to his Gekkomon form. Senka then drains nearly all of Tomoro's e-Pulse, forcing Gekkomon into a rage uncontrollably evolving into Atratusmon. Genjo reveals that he initially wanted to invite them in to inject Gekkomon with Asuka's dark e-Pulse, but as Gekkomon's anger forced him to evolve on his own, he did not really need it. He then orders Asuka to use his e-pulse to break Albatusmon from his chains, putting an end the Shangri-La Project. With all the pieces around, Genjo reveals himself as actually using Wong for his own ends and that he was actually scheming his downfall all along, and himself, Kanchi and Senka are actually saboteurs out to destroy the World Union. They expose their true identities as respectively Sanzomon, Sagomon and Cho Hakkaimon, with Sanzomon herself dealing the final coup de grace on Wong, Cold Hearting him with a kiss. Having both Tomoro and Wong out of the way, Sanzomon has Gokuwmon, Sagomon and Cho Hakkaimon Jogress Evolve into Seiten Gokuwmon. The Digimon destroy Apraxas carrying both Atratusmon and Albatusmon with them, and went on a rampage in the human world.
Sanzomon then disrupts the television broadcast and announces from within the Kintouin that she has hijacked the Shangri-La Project to grant her fellow Digimon the e-pulses of every human being in the world through the "Circle of Amplification" and demonstrates it on-screen by ordering Asuka to Cold Heart everyone in the Hikarigahama Shangri-La Egg with Albatusmon and connect it to the berserk Atratusmon, which allowed them to freely drain e-Pulse from every person in the world and bestow it to other Digimon. Some military helicopters try to attack Seiten Gokuwmon and the Kintouin, but it retaliates by drawing e-Pulse from the Amplification circle to disable electricity across all of Japan, driving all nearby Digimon berserk and results in at least one Gazimon turning against its Owner and dozens of rogue Digimon appearing across Japan attacking every person they come across. Sanzomon ends the broadcast by announcing her real motivations to lead a rebellion against humanity and create a paradise of Digimon and ends the broadcast hijack. A recovered Tomoro recognizes that Atratusmon is actually Gekkomon from the broadcast and decides to join forces with Tactics Team 7 invade the Kintouin to save his family, but they had to replenish energy lost from the previous failed raid and finishes a final supper prepared by a crippled Kyo alongside the rest of Nirinsou's faculty to do so.
After they finish their supper, Glowing Dawn annd Tactics Team 7 go invade the Kintouin, with Team 7 distracting Seiten Gokuwmon while Glowing Dawn enters the airship to confront Sanzomon and save Tomoro's family. With help from the ex-Five Stars, Glowing Dawn manages to enter it to confront Sanzomon, who tells them that they cannot defeat them and are merely her pawns who should accept themselves as mere resources to exploit for Digimon. She then orders Albatusmon to drain the e-Pulses of Bearcatmon and Scourge Chiropmon, instantly devolving and nearly killing them. Sanzomon then responds to Reina's question prior, citing that Digimon cannot sustain themselves without e-Pulse, and thus so humanity could toy with the lives of Digimon and use them as weapons. Tomoro questions her if this is so, then why does she subject Gekkomon to so much pain, which she rationalizes as a needed sacrifice to bring forth utopia for other Digimon. Resolved to stop the rogue Digimon's insanity, Reina and Makoto has Pristimon and Chiropmon evolve into their Ultimate forms Artiomon and Nosferamon to fight off Albatusmon so that Tomoro can save Atratusmon. All three Ultimate-level Digimon neutralize each other, allowing Tomoro to bring Atratusmon back to its senses and break the Amplification Circle. Sanzomon makes a final attempt at re-establishing connection between the two Ultimate-levels, but Atratusmon willingly takes all of the e-Pulse and implodes, seemingly destroying his Sapotama too. In actuality, Gekkomon's Sapotama was not destroyed, so Tomoro was able to resurrect Gekkomon through the Sapotama. Shocked, Sanzomon orders Albatusmon to take all of Gekkomon's e-Pulse, but it was overloaded and implodes as well.

Trivia[edit]
- Kanada (金田) means "gold ricefield", referencing his title of the "Star of Gold".
- Genjo is the Japanese reading of Xuanzang (玄奘), the Buddhist monk who inspired Journey to the West. Genjo's Partner Digimon, Gokuwmon, is based on Sun Wukong from the aforementioned work, and it foreshadows his true identity as Sanzomon.
- Although Genjō Sanzō is male, the character has sometimes been portrayed by actresses in Japanese adaptations of Journey to the West. Most notably, Natsume Masako played the character in the 1978 television drama Saiyūki, reportedly to convey the monk's pure, beautiful and androgynous appearance.
