Kuroshio Souji is a major character in Digimon Beatbreak. He is the disgraced former "Water" member of the Five Stars who was removed for his tendency to commit violent crimes including murder, and is the main antagonist of the Kyo Arc.
Profile[edit]
A man who was formerly one of the Five Stars. He has absolutely zero emotion. For a certain reason, he's fixed on Sawashiro Kyo.

Personality[edit]
Souji is a psychopath that feels no emotion unless confronting Kyo. He sees Digimon as nothing but vessels to fill with his pitch-black e-Pulse, which he can use to control them. Because of that, he had no issues in the past switching from one Partner Digimon to another if he found a stronger Digimon, then had the new one devour the old one. His e-Pulse is so powerful that he can control several Perfect-level Digimon at once with the White Core. He's also seemingly capable of giving birth to Digimon without a Sapotama by injecting his e-Pulse into other objects such as a pool of water for Splashmon.

Marin Devimon is one of Kuroshio Souji's current Partner Digimon. Prior to "Hollow Thirst", Kishiwada Kanchi gave it to him as a Baby I, Pitchmon, to escape from prison, who Souji then quickly evolved all the way to Perfect.

Piranimon is one of Kuroshio Souji's former Partner Digimon. As shown in a flashback in "Lip Service", Souji had them eat Anomalocarimon in the past as they were stronger than them. They were then deleted by Sawashiro Kyo and Murasamemon in "Unfading Night" as revenge for them killing his family.

Digimon Beatbreak[edit]
Not much of Kuroshio Souji's past is known, but it was implied that he grew up in an abusive household. Even amongst the Five Stars, he was infamous for his violent disposition and his tendencies to feed former partner Digimon to new ones and would frequently butt heads with Sawashiro Kyo. According to Kawarazaki, he does not have a personal Sapotama.
6 years ago, Souji joined the Five Stars of the World Union, where he was responsible for a series of murders and robberies. A year later, he was dispatched by the World Union to the original Nirinsou site looking for Kyo, who was reported missing for some time. He murdered both of its inhabitants Minoru and Karina using a Piranimon and was confronted by an enraged Kyo as a result, who deletes his Piranimon and throws him down a cliff into a body of water. Souji is then declared dead, but in actuality, he survived and was disgraced, arrested and put behind bars after another murder incident. After his removal from the Five Stars, he was replaced by Sakai Honoka. Shaken badly by the senseless tragedy, Kyo vows that he will not delete a single Digimon again and wandered despondently for a while, and officially declared that he will leave the Five Stars too during an incident involving Kutsuna Kaito and Tenma Asuka. Afterwards, based on his newfound philosophy, Kyo built a new Nirinso with help from multiple other organizations.
Following the downfall of GIFT, Kishiwada Kanchi went to a World Union prison with the White Core in his hand, then freed Souji and gave him the White Core and a Pitchmon to use for his own ends. The Pitchmon quickly evolved into a Marin Devimon and cold hearted a dozen of detention center staff. Once escorted out of prison, Kanchi officially gives Souji the White Core before the former turns his attention on Rose Woodville and asks Souji to use its powers against her. Souji defeats Rose easily with the Marin Devimon and a Splashmon Darkness Mode he created out from a puddle of water, taking control of her Lilamon and Cold Hearting her with it under his control.
On the next day, he went to Nirinsou to find Kyo for a revenge match, eventually confronting him in a grassy field, where he explained his whereabouts following the old Nirinsou incident. His Marin Devimon was outmatched and reverts back to Pitchmon, but he regenerates it with the White Core's power and defeats Murasamemon with the three Perfect-levels under his control. Enraged, Kyo vows that he will revert back to his former, vicious self and kill Souji as payback for his crimes. Both Kyo and Souji agreed to rematch on the next day and the location will be the cliff where the Old Nirinsou was at. A hardened Kyo then dons his former Star of Gold outfit and goes back to the Glowing Dawn headquarters to effortlessly defeat the rest of his former party and break ties with his group before leaving alone to confront Souji. Having heard the name "Souji" from the Nirinso Defense Force, the remaining members go investigate Souji to find a lead to Kyo.
To know about Souji and Kyo's possible whereabouts, Kawarazaki arranged an audience between them and Klay Arslan. From the intel Klay gave, an incident between Kyo and Souji occurred in Mount Aihoshi, which they went first before Kyo did and fought him, only to be swiftly defeated. An enraged Kyo then arrived and effortlessly defeats both Marine Devimon and Splashmon. Now seeking to kill Souji as payback for what he did to Minoru and Karina, Kyo charges Murasamemon with dark e-Pulse trying to kill Lilamon and Souji before being stopped by Monarch Lizamon, as the rest of his crew encourages him to regain his epiphany. Souji then takes the opportunity to take control of all three of the main cast's Digimon with the White Core to try make Kyo kill him again, only for the three Digimon to be quickly convinced by their human partners to snap back to their senses, freeing them from his control and knocking him off a body of water.
Before they could celebrate their victory however, Souji climbs back out of the water and breaks down, using the White Core's power to turn his Pitchmon into a giant Marin Devimon. Making his resolution to protect his family, the rest of the Glowing Dawn, Kyo has Murasamemon evolve into its Ultimate form, Habakirimon, who easily defeats the giant Marin Devimon. Because of overuse of the White Core, his hair becomes white entirely and half of his body was Cold Hearted. Kanchi then picks up the White Core heading to Apraxas for the final stages of his plan. Souji then pushes Kyo to kill him for one last time, but Kyo relents and leaves him in a half-alive state.

Trivia[edit]
- Souji's last name, Kuroshio, means "black tide", fitting with him being the former Star of Water, as well as his black e-Pulse.
