Tactics

Tactics (タクティクス, Takutikusu) was a Cleaner Team in Digimon Beatbreak. It was led by Seraphy Naito, and established by Klay Arslan, Star of Earth. Unlike Glowing Dawn, they seek perfection as Cleaners and are separated into teams with branches spanning worldwide. However, due to Klay's attempted coup d'etat and subsequent arrest, Tactics was disbanded.[1]

Rules[edit]
The members of the Tactics follow these three rules:[2]
- None shall neglect their training.
- None shall disobey an order.
- None shall break ranks from the team.
Alternatively, members are always encouraged and advised to control their own emotions so they could control their Digimon better (and in Team 7's case, presumably so they would carry out Klay's illegal operations without question).

Digimon Beatbreak[edit]
The Tactics team HQ resides on top of the Shangri-La Egg where Klay Arslan does his gardening work. When training at the beach, Tactics members judge their skills from an E.M.D., an e-Pulse Measurement Device, detailing their control, stability, capacity, strength, and speed, along with their bios on their age, name, height and weight. Members of the Tactics are divided into teams with cells and divisions worldwide. Sone Haruomi was a former assassin of the group separate from Team 7.
While Klay Arslan manages Tactics and Naito treats him with respect and loyalty, he does not care about them at all and treats them as mere livestock for him to harvest their e-pulses with. [3]
The Tactics arc itself focuses on Team 7, led by Souda Raito and the youngest and most perfectionist of all of Tactics.[4] Team 7 is an elite cell personally scouted and supervised by Seraphy Naito and directly answers to Klay. As a result of their elite status, they are entrusted to hunt down Klay's quarry [4] and be in charge with safeguarding his illegal businesses.[5] Despite their initial prowess and their high trust from Naito and Klay however, Team 7 gradually exposes to be far from the perfect elite squad they tout to be, with Raito admitting himself that he had issues controlling a Digimon (ironically one of the very few things that he isn't excelling in), and the others being still flawed human beings who were forced into horrible situations. Raito's accidental destruction of Klay's high-price merchandise results in his expulsion from Team 7 and his subsequent sentence the Hidden Colosseum, where he was expected to be Cold Hearted and was fed false hopes that he could rejoin the team. The sheer scope of Naito's mistreatment and the inhuman horrors unleashed upon innocents by Klay were laid bare to Team 7 with help from Glowing Dawn from that point on, and all of its members quickly announced defection.
Eventually, Klay's list was leaked by Kanada Genjo and his illegal businesses ventures were exposed to the public, and Chairman Wong deemed Klay a fugitive as a result. The remaining four of the Five Planets then began hunting down and purging Tactics cells globally, with Sakai Honoka being in charge of eradicating Team 7, fighting Kuonji Makoto and Kanuma Hotaruko. Despite having a noticable upper hand, Honoka found herself outnumbered when the rest of Glowing Down and former Tactics Team 7 intervened, forcing her to escape.[6]
Moments before his climactic battle against Glowing Dawn next to the ruins of Albida, Klay declared that Naito was no longer of any use and used him as a human sacrifice to Proganomon, in spite of the latter's undying loyalty towards him. He lost to Tenma Tomoro in a final stand and was arrested by the Ministry of Civil Protection on that night, cementing the demise of the group. [3]
Despite Tactics' disbandment, another Tactics cell, Team 1, remained active. They aimed to kill Raito as they considered him a traitor that led to Tactics' fall, as well as personally hating him for taking Team 1's position as the elite Tactics team and mocking them for it. They also considered this a needed step to bring Tactics back alongside other remnants which would become active again after Raito's death. After they failed to do so, they ambushed Hotaruko and Granit while they were working to kidnap them, intending to use them as bait for Raito, while drugging the Glowing Dawn so they wouldn't get in the way. However, Raito saw through their plan and ruined it by using Tomoro (who accidentally avoided the drug) as bait to find where Team 1's leader, Ichinosuke, was hidden through Vulturemon's sniping, as that was the same place where he kept Hotaruko and Granit. Team 1 were then defeated by Azhdarmon and Arma Lizamon.[7]
Trivia[edit]
- The members of Team 7 and Seraphy Naito have names related to minerals, tying them to Klay Arslan, the Star of Earth:
- "Souda Raito" sounds identical to "sodalite" (ソーダライト, soudaraito).
- The hotaru part of Kanuma Hotaruko's name refers to fireflies, and in turn, the fluorite crystal, called "hotaru-ishi" (蛍石, meaning "firefly crystals") in Japan.
- "Granit" is a letter short of "granite".
- "Seraphy Naito" sounds identical to "seraphinite" (セラフィナイト, serafinaito).
- The members of Team 1, meanwhile, have a numerical motif for their names:
- Ichinosuke has "ichi", 1.
- Nichika has "ni", 2.
- Sanpei has "san", 3.
