Five Stars
| |||||||
The Five Stars (五行星, Gogyōsei, literally Five Planets)[1], is the highest-ranked Cleaner Team in Digimon Beatbreak.
Members[edit]
As of Digimon Beatbreak - Episode 46, all of the Cleaners that were part of the Five Stars during Kyo's generation had left or lost their positions. With the remaining members being revealed to be traitors and double agents in Digimon Beatbreak - Episode 47, the group is officially disbanded.
Current members (as of Episode 47)[edit]
All of these were actually a band of four Digimon in disguise with the shared goal of sabotaging and destroying the World Union from within.
- Wood Star: "Nishino Senka the Paradise"
- Gold Star: "Kanada Genjo the Adamantine"
- Earth Star: "Kishiwada Kanchi the Pure Land"
Former members[edit]
- Fire Star: "Kutsuna Kaito the Blazing" -- defected after being defeated by Kyo. Given Rose had his and Honoka's tags when she defected, it was heavily implied that he refused to work with Chairman Wong as well
- Water Stars:
- "Kuroshio Souji the Turbid" -- arrested over multiple violent crimes, including murder
- "Sakai Honoka the Abyssal" -- defected after being defeated by Reina and followed suit alongside Kaito
- Wood Star: "Rose Woodville the Verdant" -- defected out of disgust over Wong's insanity
- Gold Star: Sawashiro Kyo the Golden" -- defected for humanitarian reasons
- Earth Star: "Klay Arslan the Surging" -- arrested for multiple illegal businesses and attempted coup d'etat
General[edit]
Their members are kept hidden to the general public and are instead only known by their code names. The Five Stars work directly under the World Union and its members are chosen by said organization amongst the strongest Cleaners, with each controlling a Perfect-level Partner Digimon, which are commonly considered to be the pinnacle of strength.[2] It appears as if controlling a perfect-level Digimon as a partner is a requirement for becoming one of the Five Stars. Some of the eligible members can even evolve their Digimon further into ultimate-levels, being one of the very few people in the entire season who could do so. However, near the end of the series, both Kishiwada Kanchi and Nishino Senka were able to fill the vacancies left from Klay and Rose despite not owning any Digimon (out of rental Perfect-level Digimon they got from the World Union laboratories).
As the name states, the group can never have more than five members, each of which takes a slot of one of the five elements: Fire, Water, Wood, Gold, and Earth. Every member of the Five Stars is given a title and an epithet. The title represents their rank as a Five Star, and is passed down to replacements, while the epithet is unique to the individual, and represents their persona. Despite being ostensibly a cleaner group and members are encouraged to work with each other[3], it is more of a collection of five independent cleaners receiving direct requests from the World Union with barely any teamwork or camaraderie amongst most of them. Not all of them act alone however, and at least Rose and Klay had subsidiary Cleaner groups that are directly under their control.
Despite supposedly directly working under Chairman Wong, none of them hold any genuine loyalty towards him. Klay has expressed intent to usurp Chairman Wong (which combined with his illegal businesses, led to Genjo using Glowing Dawn to get rid of him), Rose, Honoka and Kaito defected immediately when Chairman Wong ordered them kill all Cleaners, and the trio of Digimon that joined did so to sabotage the World Union for their own ends.

Anime[edit]
Digimon Beatbreak[edit]
11 years ago, Sawashiro Kyo was scouted by the World Union to be one of the Five Stars after after evolving his own Cougarmon to Murasamemon. After working there for 4 years, he defected following Souji's murder of Minoru and Karina and was replaced by Kanada Genjo, who directly reports to Chairman Wong and acts on his behalf. Then, Kuroshio Souji was arrested and the vacancy was replaced by Sakai Honoka.
Before the Five Stars gathering, Genjo managed to locate Tenma Asuka's Sapotama within a Hyemon that attacked him and ordered his Gokuwmon to slay it and take his e-pulse, which he was interested in for unknown reasons. Then, Kaito came across a Disaster Raremon and slain it before threatening Tenma Tomoro and clashing with Kyo, brutally defeating Tomoro's Gekkomon and injuring Kyo before leaving. Genjo then released a Marin Bullmon towards the Glowing Dawn HQ, but it was defeated by Gekkomon in his Arma Lizamon form. When Kaito noticed this, he went to question Genjo if it was his doing, only for him to be reminded of his position and silenced.
All of the Five Stars were first seen gathered in Abraxas of the World union HQ. There, Honoka was playfully flirting with Kaito before being called for a stop by Rose. Genjo, Klay and Chairman Wong followed suit. Chairman Wong spoke about the current state of the world with Honoka arguing with Rose over the Raremon Kaito slain only to be shut down (again) by Kaito. Wong then continues on, declaring that if the World Union wants to solve the impending world crisis, they must realize the Shangri-La Project, which would not be possible without the Five Planet's unified cooperation.
Four of the Five Stars turned on Klay after Glowing Dawn foiled his illegal Digimon auction. His ownership of multiple illegal businesses, in addition to his attempted coup d'etat against Chairman Wong, made him a very lucrative target for removal. To this mean, Genjo baited Tomoro with Asuka's e-pulse and thrown him into Klay's Hidden Colosseum in hopes of baiting Kyo and using Golden Dawn to take down Klay, knowing that he will always take action if his "family" is in danger. He then leaked Klay's list and reported to Chairman Wong, who was fully aware of his coup d'etat. Wong kicked him off from the Five Stars and declared him a fugitive, and orders the remaining Stars to eradicate all of his Tactics cells worldwide. Honoka was in charge of getting rid of Tactics Team 7 and initially fought Kanuma Hotaruko and Kuonji Makoto with an upper hand, but escaped when she found herself outnumbered seven to one. Eventually, Tomoro managed to defeat Klay's Proganomon with his Gekkomon's new Monarch Lizamon form and the Ministry of Civil Protection arrested Klay, ending his terror for good. When the news spread, Rose feared that things will get chaotic and told her two servants to take action.
When GIFT surfaced to become a threat against the World Union and began unleashing a series of terrorist attacks across Japan, Rose was dispatched by Chairman Wong to investigate, eventually coming into conflict with Glowing Dawn when she mistook them for being accomplices with the cult. Eventually, she and her team Brilliant Thorn teamed up with Glowing Dawn to take out its leader Kagemori Miharu's Mephismon, causing the cult to disband.
Near the end of the series, the former second-in-command of GIFT, Kishiwada Kanchi, went to the World Union and filled in the vacancy left by Klay in exchange for giving Chairman Wong the White Core so he could enact the Shangri-La Project. Wong then orders a brainwashed Tenma Asuka alongside his partner, Helios Boamon, to raid Golden Dawn's hideout while also ordering Kaito, Honoka and Kanchi to disrupt the group. Kanchi leaves after having a reinforced Gogmamon he rented from a World Union lab and controlled defeated by Makoto. Kaito went into a confrontation with Kyo and despite having been evolved his Flaremon into Apollomon, ends up being defeated between a clash of ultimates, and in a similar vein, Honoka was defeated by Reina in combat. However, before the group was able to save Asuka, Genjo intervenes and effortlessly crushes the trio with Gokuwmon, then has Asuka evolve Helios Boamon into her ultimate form, Albatusmon. Kyo fights Albatusmon, initially with Habakirimon, but quickly runs out of energy and resorts to fighting her alone. The two fight to a stalemate and Kyo almost manages to save Asuka only for Genjo to ambush Murasamemon with Gokuwmon's Choutaiden Raikouhou, removing Kyo's right arm and killing Murasamemon instantly.
With Kyo out of the way and the rest of the Glowing Dawn falling into a deep depression, Chairman Wong now has Albatusmon in his hand, which he uses to enact his Shangri-La Project; he will control the entire world by linking their Sapotamas to Albatusmon, allowing him to cold heart not just people with the potential to create Digimon, but also anyone who opposes him. As people with Digimon partners are unaffected by this, Wong tried to order Rose to exterminate all cleaners, but she refuses and defects, apparently also with Kaito and Honoka agreeing with her to follow suit as well. Rose was then replaced by Nishino Senka, who immediately stages a raid on Nirinso with a trio of reinforced perfect-level dinosaur Digimon she rented from a World Union laboratory, while Glowing Dawn lost the will to do anything to fight back. However, seeing Tactics Team 7, the Nirinso Defense Force and the In-Training Digimon resisting against the invaders regains their will to fight, and they evolve into their Perfect forms and easily defeat all of Senka's dinosaur Digimon. With their willpower reignited and a spray can invented by Tenma Tasuku and Miharu that could potentially sever the tie between Asuka and Albatusmon, the remaining members of Glowing Dawn go to put an end to Chairman Wong once and for all.
When Glowing Dawn infiltrates Apraxas alongside Tactics, they were stopped once again by Senka, who sends a group of doll Digimon on them. Reina and Makoto were stopped by Kanchi, who then summons the same Gogmamon as prior alongside a Death Meramon and a Blue Meramon on them, leaving only Tomoro to fight Genjo and Gokuwmon. Tomoro manages to land the spray on Asuka, but Kanchi washes the spray away with his water powers and Senka appears to bite him on his shoulder, Cold Hearting him and shocking Chairman Wong, resulting in Gekkomon forcibly evolving into Atratusmon and charged with Dark e-Pulse. The remaining three stars reveal themselves to be a group of disguised Journey to the West Digimon that are there to destroy humanity and create a utopia for Digimon, and Sanzomon Jogress Evolves the other three rogue Digimon into Seiten Gokuwmon. The two Digimon escape through Seiten Gokwmon's Nyoitenjinbō with both Atratusmon and Albatusmon within it and went onto a rampage, disbanding the group once and for all.
Trivia[edit]
- Out of the original members, Kutsuna Kaito and Rose Woodville were the only members that remained from the group's foundation to its eventual compromise in the hands of Digimon.
