21 years ago, Chairman Wong was the owner of the Kano Island research facility, where refugees from across the world were subjected to e-pulse experiments. However, all of the Digimon in the facility went berserk, merged into a single giant being, exploded and destroyed the island, causing tectonic shifts and tidal waves that caused 1.3 million deaths. Chairman Wong witnessed the Digimon alongside Tenma Tomoro's grandfather, Tenma Tasuku, and was stunned and amazed by its power. In the present day, he runs the World Union, the world's largest company responsible for the manufacturing of Sapotamas and the eventual Shangri-La Project.
