Seiten Gokuwmon is a Tathāgata Digimon that evolved when Sanzomon used its sutras to elevate the bonds it had with Cho·Hakkaimon and Sagomon—whom it traveled alongside and grew up with—into a new power.
Although its inherently belligerent nature remains unchanged, it is no longer as arrogant as it used to be, and has grown into a warrior who combines combat instinct with composure.
Its spirit is not the only thing that has grown. The golden decorations on its back are "Kintoun", which it transforms into a thundercloud to use. The "Nyoikinkobō", which it frequently used, took in the power of its companions and, combined with Gokuwmon's abilities, was enhanced into the "Nyoitenjinbō", a weapon capable of freely changing shape that harnesses three attributes—thunder, fire, and water.
Freely wielding sorcery and martial arts, it has become a powerful Digimon who is truly worthy of being called a mighty warrior.
While it is a Digimon of the strongest class, rivaling the guardians of the Eastern Digital World, the Tentei Hachibushu, it is a free being who is neither bound by destiny nor constraints, so Erlangmon has been keeping a close watch on its every move.
Its Special Moves are making its eyes glow with flame-like light, temporarily increasing its power (Kagan Kinsei), sending out flames from the Nyoitenjinbō and striking while preserving their power (HakkaiEntengeki), and similarly, generating a violent whirlpool to engulf the opponent (GojōSuitensō), and transforming the Nyoitenjinbō into a bazooka, concentrating lightning, and then firing it (Chōtai Seirai Tenhō).

Seiten Gokuwmon is a Tathāgata-type Digimon that evolved by using the power of the sutras of Sanzomon to transform the deep bonds formed with Cho·Hakkaimon and Sagomon during their journey into a new power.
It still retains its combative nature, but is no longer as reckless as it used to be. It has grown into a warrior who combines fighting instincts with a cool head.
Seiten Gokuwmon has matured not just spiritually. The golden decorations on its back can transform into the "Jīndǒuyún" that it can ride. Its Signature Move is Rúyì Jīn Gū Bàng, wielding a staff imbued with the power of its companions and combining it with its own abilities to create a powerful weapon that can change shape at will, the "Rúyì Tiān Shén Bàng".
Seiten Gokuwmon can freely wield both sorcery and martial arts, making it a truly powerful Digimon capable of fighting thousands on its own.
It is one of the strongest Digimon, rivaling the guardians of the Eastern Digital World, the Tentei Hachibushu, but it is not bound by destiny or constraints, making it a free spirit. As a result, Erlangmon has been keeping a close eye on its every move.
Many of Seiten Gokuwmon's abilities and equipment are directly taken from those of Sūn Wùkōng:
As emphasized in its announcement in Monmon Memo!!, Seiten Gokuwmon has a golden shine.[2] Depictions and adaptations of Sūn Wùkōng often depict him as shining gold or as having golden fur.
Like Shakamon, Seiten Gokuwmon is a Tathāgata Digimon, representing it having attained enlightenment just as Sūn Wùkōng does in Journey to the West. In Digimon New Century, similar orbs as the golden orbs that orbit Shakamon are also present around Seiten Gokuwmon.
Its Nyoitenjinbō, as an enhanced version of Gokuwmon's Nyoikinkobou, is based on and named after Sūn Wùkōng's Ruyi Jingu Bang. Like the Rúyì Jīngū Bàng (and Hanumon's Nyoi Bone and Gokuwmon’s Nyoikinkobou), the Nyoitenjinbō is capable of shrinking and expanding in size, and can now expand to the size of a cannon.
Its Kintoun is named after, and based on a common depiction of, Sūn Wùkōng's ability to travel immense distances in a single somersault, specifically its common depiction as Sūn Wùkōng riding on a cloud. This technique represents Sūn Wùkōng gaining further spiritual freedom, part of its journey to enlightenment. Like the Nyoitenjinbō, it has size-changing properties and can transform from the golden decorations on Seiten Gokuwmon's back, into an armored cloud large enough to be ridden (pictured in alternate infobox image on far right), or into a giant thundercloud. The armored cloud state of the Kintoun is part of Seiten Gokuwmon's sleeping animation in the Pendulum COLOR 6 (pictured right). When turned into the giant thundercloud, it also acts as an airship where individuals can enter through its mouth.[3] It’s fin-shaped protrusions are capable of shooting lightning as seen in the Reference Book artwork and in Beatbreak, a literal representation of its thundercloud nature.[4] The inside of the Kintoun is made up of golden skies with golden clouds, reflecting the Somersault Cloud's general depictions as a golden cloud flying through the sky, as well as many mountains and red, wooden platforms. The size-changing properties of Seiten Gokuwmon's equipment also extends to its own body in Digimon Beatbreak, in which Seiten Gokuwmon absorbs the Kintoun and activates Kagan Kinsei to grow itself to giant proportions. This is also an ability of Sūn Wùkōng that is used at multiple points in Journey to the West.
Seiten Gokuwmon’s Kintoun differs from Sūn Wùkōng's "Cloud Somersault" technique in that the former is shaped like a fish, complete with fin-like protrusions. The fish aspect is inspired by the Qing Fish Demon (鯖魚精 Qingyu jing), a physical manifestation of Sūn Wùkōng's desires in A Supplement to the Journey to the West (西遊補 Xiyoubu). The Qing Fish Demon traps Sūn Wùkōng in a dream world, constructed using Sūn Wùkōng's mind. The two are linked in that they are entities born together from the same primordial energies, with Sūn Wùkōng representing more Yang (positive) energy, and the Qing Fish Demon representing more Yin (negative) energy. The story ends with Sūn Wùkōng killing the Qing Fish Demon, depicting the former conquering his own desires and achieving further enlightenment. As such, Seiten Gokuwmon's Kintoun simultaneously represents the stories of Sūn Wùkōng conquering his desires and gaining spiritual freedom in one design. The Kintoun featuring an inside that others can enter is inspired by the inner dream world the Qing Fish Demon creates within Sūn Wùkōng's mind.
Sūn Wùkōng's rivalry with Erlang Shen in Journey to the West is represented by Seiten Gokuwmon's rivalry with Erlangmon.[5]
Seiten Gokuwmon's arms are equipped with both effigies of, and accessories taken from the designs of, two other Digimon based on Sūn Wùkōng's traveling companions from Journey to the West: Cho·Hakkaimon on its right arm (accessory: the metal band from its gauntlets), and Sagomon on its left arm (accessory: its belt of skulls). Elements of these two Digimon's weapons—Cho·Hakkaimon’s Roketto Dīngpá and Sagomon’s Kouyouhoujou—are also incorporated into the enlarged form of Seiten Gokuwmon's Nyoitenjinbō. Seiten Gokuwmon's Digimon Reference Book profile describes its evolution as having been made possible by its bond with these two Digimon (with enhancement from Sanzomon, also based on a Journey to the West character).[5] These relationships are also present in Digimon Beatbreak, in which Seiten Gokuwmon is achieved by Jogress Evolution between the three Digimon who work with Sanzomon: Gokuwmon, Sagomon, and Cho·Hakkaimon.[3] The Digimon Card Game represents this with Seiten Gokuwmon's Assembly effect.[6]
In "A World of Shining Light", Seiten Gokuwmon absorbs the Kintoun and activates Kagan Kinsei to battle Atratusmon and Albatusmon. As a result of its Kagan Kinsei, Seiten Gokuwmon is further empowered and grows to gigantic proportions, allowing it to overpower both Atratusmon and Albatusmon. Seiten Gokuwmon is ultimately defeated by Volvemon, the fused form of Atratusmon and Albatusmon.
