⇨ Japanese A Daitengu Digimon that lives in the dark depths of the mountains with Karatenmon serving as its followers. The Karatenmon train daily under Tengumon, but ultimately, the trial imposed upon them is defeating Tengumon. Moreover, the one who defeats it evolves into the next Tengumon. It is said that the new Tengumon will firstly wave its Genriki-filled gunbai and then cause a natural disaster to announce their succession.
Its Special Move is unleashing a kick while slashing with the blades on the bottom of its geta (Maen Zanshūgeki). Its "Sonten Daireppū", in which it channels all of its Genriki into its gunbai and waves it, unleashing a tornado that can lift even boulders, is both feared and lauded by mountain Digimon as it boasts the power to incinerate opponents along with the terrain.

| Tengumon was designed to fulfill Karatenmon’s profile as the "Daitengu Digimon" that Karatenmon follows.[1] Tengumon’s design bears resemblance to Garudamon, particularly the leg markings, the wing designs, the shape of the arms, and the cloth tied around the left arm. These elements may be shared due to the "tengu" of Shinto myth and the "Garuda" of Hindu myth both being humanoid bird creatures.
The gunbai held by Tengumon bears a full and crescent moon design, these symbols are also visible on the chest armor of Enmamon. Enmamon’s namesake, "King Yama" originates in Vedic Hindu mythology, in which King Yama is served by crows that travel between the realm of the dead and the mortal realm. The kanji on the gunbai reads "Ryūsei" (流星; lit. "meteor"). The term tengu (天狗; lit. "heavenly dog") is believed to have been borrowed from the Chinese mythical creature, the tiāngǒu, which resembles a black dog or meteor.
