Talk:Seiten Gokuwmon

From Wikimon

Design & Analysis[edit]

Hey to anyone reading this, just wanted to discuss the mask (or headpiece) of Seiten Gokuwmon potentially referencing Hakubamon. Not looking to cause a disagreement, but wanted to get some perspective on it.

From what I see, Seiten Gokuwmon’s mask is an otherwise arbitrary design choice, and given it features the same wispy “whiskers” (can’t think of a better word) protruding from it as Hakubamon’s own mask does, I think it’s worth considering. Not to mention the color scheme of white, red, and gold does in fact match Hakubamon itself. This next point may be coincidental, but Hakubamon’s golden mane does in fact line up with Seiten Gokuwmon’s golden hair and fur, particularly because the “Super Saiyan 3” like hair is flowing out from the mask/headpiece itself. Hope I don’t sound crazy, what do you think? --NightwingFan (talk) 16:18, 10 July 2025

It’s just been pointed out to me that Sanzomon also has golden hair to match Hakubamon (who we know was designed to reference Sanzomon) and Seiten Gokuwmon, which is relevant as Sanzomon’s rings are around Gokuwmon’s neck, as well a tiny scroll that looks similar to (or the same as?) one seen in Sanzomon’s hair. So that’s Hakubamon’s mask and head, plus Sanzomon’s hair and other attributes, all positioned in close proximity to each other and around Seiten Gokuwmon’s head. If that was all a coincidence, it’d be a fun one at least. --NightwingFan (talk) 17:30, 10 July 2025 (CDT)
The issue is that none of those traits actually match Hakubamon. You say the color scheme is the same, but none of the parts actually corresponds with the respective colors of Hakubamon's parts. Their masks are different colors, their 'whiskers' are different colors, and the decorations on the mask are completely absent from Hakubamon's design (and vice versa). This is in stark contrast to Cho-Hakkaimon and Sagomon, whose parts are virtually unchanged, especially in terms of color. For example, Sagomon's head is literally on SeitenGokuumon's shoulder; you can even see Sagomon's beak-mouth.
Moreover, the design of SeitenGokuumon's mask/hat has a foundation in the actual Sun Wukong, independent from the White Dragon Horse or Hakubamon. The 'whiskers' on SeitenGokuumon's hat are actually the feathers of a Phoenix Feather Cap, a headwear closely associated with Sun Wukong. The white mask with red eye markings resembles the traditional mask associated with Sun Wukong in Chinese opera. The golden fur is also a trait already associated with Sun Wukong. I'll reiterate, there's no actual Hakubamon-specific traits, and the traits you claim to be similar are only vaguely similar and are inherent with Sun Wukong to begin with. --YongYoKyo (talk) 18:16, 10 July 2025 (CDT)
Fair enough and thanks for explaining all that, that’s pretty helpful. In fact, an abbreviated version of the elements you just brought up could definitely be added to Seiten Gokuwmon’s page lol. I do want to know how you or anyone else might feel about the potential Sanzomon elements present here though, like the rings and the scroll. --NightwingFan (talk) 21:49, 10 July 2025 (CDT)
