Having created the test space to observe digital lifeforms, researchers managed to simulate a survivable environment, but they were unable to induce any changes in primordial lifeforms that had been designed to be equivalent to present-day Baby I Digimon. That was when they introduced an environmental AI—what would later be called Volvemon—to cycle the world through stages. It would use the halo on its back to convert the digital environment to pure data and absorb it, then use the generator on its chest to compress the data for emanation, thereby perpetuating the world. Day and night, temperature and atmospheric pressure, tidal forces, the changing seasons, and even the three phases of water, all the world's cycles were thus established and sustained. Following Volvemon's introduction, the test space underwent diverse environmental cycles that stimulated the digital lifeforms to ultimately achieve the transformation known as Evolution. The evolution of digital lifeforms ushered in an expansion of the experimental environment, causing it to eventually become the vast realm that is the Digital World. Because no combat test logs exist, this is purely conjecture, but the maelstrom generated by Volvemon's Revolutio Rerum—the process of absorbing all nearby matter for subsequent emanation—must certainly bring total annihilation to anything that gets caught up in it. Records indicate that after control over the Digital World was transferred to the central operating system, it became capable of functioning without Volvemon. No longer needed, Volvemon was sealed within the system as two separate entities—one possessing the power of absorption and the other of emanation. Coincidentally, its Japanese spelling is highly reminiscent of Wolfmon's Japanese name ヴォルフモン (Vorufumon), the only difference is an adding of dakuten to the "fu" (フ) letter; Wolfmon has a strong association with Susanoomon, one of potential inspirations for Volvemon's concepts. The primary colours of white and black of Volvemon are reflected in these component Digimon. Other elements present in Volvemon's design come from related Digimon in Digimon Beatbreak, in which Albatusmon is the Ultimate of Helios Boamon and Atratusmon is the same for Gekkomon. The pink hair of Volvemon comes from Gekkomon and Monarchlizamon, while the crescent moon motif can be seen in all three of Gekkomon, Monarchlizamon, and Atratusmon. The gold ring on Volvemon's helmet is based on the gold ring representing the sun that is visible on Helios Boamon. Besides these elements, Volvemon also bears resemblance to other fused Digimon like Omegamon and Susanoomon. For example, the armour on Volvemon's forearms matching the placement of the Kaiser Greymon and Magna Garurumon helmets attached to Susanoomon's arms, which themselves are a reference to the Grey Sword and Garuru Sword arms of Omegamon. In the case of Omegamon, Volvemon's debut in "A World of Shining Light" is paired with its two partners, Tenma Tomoro and Tenma Asuka, standing on its shoulders just as Yagami Taichi and Ishida Yamato stand on Omegamon in Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!. Human and Digimon partners around the globe put their hopes into Volvemon, much like the wishes of humans created the miracle of Omegamon in Our War Game. Its general concepts and design are possible references to some "super robot" anime, most notably Nirvash Spec 3 from Eureka Seven, Stargazer Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer, and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.
