DORUmon is the main character of Digital Monster X-evolution and a major character of the Lament of the X-Antibody chapter (慟哭のＸ抗体編 Dōkoku no X-Kōtai-hen) in Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, where he temporarily becomes a Partner Digimon of Kuga Yuuya as DORUgamon.

The mysterious little Digimon known as DORUmon, characterized by the strange stone in his forehead, is, in actuality, not a Digimon but an artificial being created by Yggdrasill, the sentient computer that controls the Digital World, with the intention of using it to bring about the second phase of its X-Antibody scheme.

Digital Monster X-evolution[edit]
Released into the Digital World, DORUmon is ostracized for possessing the X-Antibody and comes under threat from Leomon, who seeks to claim the X-Antibody for its own. Fleeing from the Leomon through a forest, DORUmon seems doomed until Leomon relents, knowing that, even with the X-Antibody, it would live no longer. Asking DORUmon to live for it in the new Digital World, apologizes and dies.
Bullied by a group of Mushmon and forced to flee into a river, DORUmon comes to rest in an old temple in a barren region of the plain, where it soon comes into contact with War Greymon (X-Antibody), it requests that DORUmon look after Tokomon until it returns. DORUmon agrees, happy to have a friend, but the duo soon witnesses another attack by Omegamon on a herd of innocent Digimon and though they both bravely attempt to fight back against the Omegamon, almost become victims themselves until War Greymon (X-Antibody) and Metal Garurumon (X-Antibody) arrive to save them. In the course of the ensuing battle, however, weakened by this, Metal Garurumon (X-Antibody) collapses and DORUmon, believing it is dead, it overcome with emotion and memories of Leomon. It evolves to its Adult form of DORUgamon.
Once Alphamon: Ouryuken sacrifices itself to defeat Death-X-mon, its other half and gives its X-Antibody to Omegamon in a parallel to what Leomon did for it. It merges with Death-X-mon and reverts to DORUmon, who is eventually reunited with Tokomon (X-Antibody).

DORUmon confronts Kuga Yuuya and Black in Signpost Woods after they're defeated by Taiga and Mikagura Mirei. He asks Yuuya where he got the X-Antibody Black carried and if he heard of the X-Program, but Yuuya refuses to answer as his Black couldn't be affected by said program. DORUmon then explains that all of his friends vanished one day due to the X-Program coming out of a dimensional distortion but he survived thanks to his X-Antibody, and it desperately wanted someone to explain to it why only it survived. Yuuya just found this boring, then explained that it must've meant destiny had something for DORUmon to do still, but that couldn't be to just cry about what happened to it, and the same must apply to Black and his X-Antibody. Yuuya then left as he cared more about a strange stream of data he was investigating than DORUmon's sorrow, which he considered a waste of time. DORUmon thought they were amazing because they didn't worry about their fate at all and wondered if it could ever be like them.
After Taiga defeated Vitium Adult, Plotmon ran towards him since it heard a loud sound. Taiga explained what happened and Plotmon realized it missed a huge fight but it refused to give up and went to the Memorial Stella, with Taiga following. They then found a new distortion. Plotmon tried to get close to it but was stopped by DORUmon, who explained said distortion was the X-Program. From it, the Royal Knights Dukemon (X-Antibody) and Omegamon (X-Antibody) emerged. Plotmon thought they looked very strong and DORUmon warned it they would delete it, which confused Plotmon. Omegamon realized they weren't the energy that brought them there, but Taiga was, to Dukemon's surprise, and they both attacked him to confirm. Dukemon and Omegamon were surprised Digimaru wouldn't go down and wondered if he had the X-Antibody. Omegamon then turned to DORUmon, who it considered a coward as he was scared of the X-Program despite having the X-Antibody and wouldn't challenge them despite killing all his friends. Dukemon stopped Omegamon from bullying DORUmon any further as he was just an useless weakling, but Taiga wasn't, so they'd awaken his potential if he came with them to new, unexplored lands. Dukemon explained they were the creators of the X-Program who fought the unfathomable, then they left into the distortion.
After that, Plotmon tried to cheer DORUmon up, thanking him for his help and asking him to stay by its side, which DORUmon agreed to, then left. Plotmon wondered if they could meet again in the Village of Beginnings and left to join it.
Plotmon and DORUmon entered the Colosseum's basement after Taiga returned from his first Infinity Mountain exploration, as Plotmon sought more power. DORUmon tried to stop it, as its life was at risk, but Plotmon thought they shouldn't let that opportunity pass them. They both then went into the distortion, where Taiga meets DORUmon again in the second floor. There, DORUmon finds the smell of the X-Program, then runs away, terrified. He quickly found himself surrounded by three Agumon (Black). Yuuya and Black then showed up and DORUmon ran away, unwilling to fight, which made Yuuya think he was very pathetic. Later on, DORUmon begged Yuuya to find Plotmon because he was strong and Plotmon was weak. Yuuya refused, however, telling DORUmon to grow stronger and do it himself instead. DORUmon then ran away, crying, and tried to proceed through the floor, though he was stumped at the last quiz needed to proceed, ironically one about himself, whether he was an artificial Digimon or not. Nonetheless, Yuuya still found Plotmon, about to get attacked by a Metal Garurumon (Black). He was uninterested in the fight between two stray dogs and instead decided to bet with Taiga on who'd win, though he found it boring either way. DORUmon then showed up and Yuuya insulted DORUmon then left. DORUmon attempted to run away but tripped. Plotmon wanted to as well, but because of the X-Program, it couldn't focus. Still, with DORUmon there, it decided to put its life on the line and fight, X-Evolving into Plotmon (X-Antibody). With its newfound power, Plotmon thought they could win, and called everyone to fight alongside it. However, only Taiga and Digimaru did, with DORUmon distancing himself instead. He was confused because he knew Plotmon underwent an X-Evolution but didn't know how he knew that, then ran away.
They met again in the next floor, where Plotmon was sure they just had to follow the advice of the mail at the start of the floor and they'd be fine since it was now strong, but DORUmon was still scared, so Plotmon decided to go on its own and show DORUmon just how strong it had gotten. When Taiga got to the exit of that floor, DORUmon and Yuuya heard Plotmon scream. While Yuuya tried to get DORUmon to help his friend, he was too scared to do anything. Yuuya then explained to DORUmon that it thought Digimon were superior to humans in many ways, including how a piece of junk could evolve and be reborn, so Digimon that couldn't do that, like DORUmon were the same as human scum. Yuuya then forced DORUmon to move and left. After Digimaru and Black failed to defeat Magnamon (X-Antibody), who had hurt Plotmon, DORUmon ran in, crying, and declared he'd surpass his former self and break down his limits, ready to build the future it wanted and to be judged by the now, not by the past. That determination evolved him into DORUgamon. DORUgamon, Digimaru and Black then fought and defeated Magnamon. Plotmon got back up, happy at how its lifesaver had evolved. It thought their friendship would strengthen thanks to their evolutions, but DORUgamon was once again terrified and begged Plotmon to stay away. Plotmon tried to touch him, only to get repelled. DORUgamon's memories then came back as did his bloodthirst from the past, which he hated. He then ran away once more and Plotmon followed him, against his wishes. Yuuya realized he was far too powerful and wondered if he was connected to Yggdrasill going berserk, which he found fun.
At the end of Floor 11, Taiga and Yuuya found DORUgamon and Plotmon being attacked by a Chaosmon and a Rosemon (X-Antibody). Plotmon was glad DORUgamon seemed very motivated, which it was as well. Yuuya wanted to watch over them but give them items for some entertainment. During this fight, Taiga controls Plotmon (X-Antibody) while Yuuya controls DORUgamon. While they win the battle, they're left exhausted, only for a War Greymon (X-Antibody) and an Ulforce V-dramon (X-Antibody) to show up soon after. Plotmon faints from exhaustion, so DORUgamon tries to fight them on its own, only to get beaten down. After Yuuya leaves, DORUgamon thinks everyone will die again. With a roar, DORUgamon gets back up and evolves into DORUguremon, who easily takes down both enemy X-Antibody Digimon. However, it then runs out of control and attacks Yuuya, who realizes that, for DORUguremon, everyone's an enemy now. Taiga and Yuuya try to fight him, but he's too tough, and its indomitable fighting spirit is a shock for Yuuya, who considers him beautiful. Omegamon (X-Antibody) and Dukemon (X-Antibody) then show up, both confused and wondering if this is the will of Yggdrasill. Dukemon considers DORUguremon's devotion to pure power, even if it means sacrificing his soul, wonderful, proof of the beauty of life. Omegamon disagrees. Dukemon considers it the truth, as Yggdrasill's will, then leaves with DORUguremon. Omegamon doesn't understand, since he thought Dukemon wanted to help the Digimon being erased, so he leaves to pursue his friend.
By the end of Floor 12, Yuuya and Taiga found DORUguremon once again, though he had calmed down. Yuuya wondered if he was conscious now. DORUguremon talked about how everything was in his mind, and he wasn't sure how he ended up like this. Plotmon then showed up, worried about DORUguremon, who explained he was fine but not at peace as Plotmon was his only friend, but now DORUguremon's body just wanted to destroy everyone. He begged Plotmon to run away as his evolution would soon be complete and he'd become an absolute killing machine, as that was what Yggdrasill created him for. He had forgotten all of it on purpouse as it caused him pain, and asked everyone to take him down, before he'd take his hellish final Ultimate evolution. After their fight, DORUguremon reached his pain and hostility limit. He said goodbye to Plotmon, remembering how happy it was when it X-Evolved despite DORUmon's own worries, and hoped they'd smile together again if they met on the other side, where they'd be weak again. DORUguremon then evolved into Death-X-mon, warping everyone to a different area and attacking them. After being subjugated, Death-X-mon devolved into DORUmon. Plotmon cried over his body, though Yuuya told it to stop as it was an act of weakness. While Taiga and Yuuya were commited to continue forth and destroy Yggdrasill, Plotmon just silently stayed by DORUmon's unconscious body.
After Taiga and Yuuya defeat Yggdrasill_7D6, Plotmon brings DORUmon's Digicore, the Blank Digicore, to Taiga, so Digimaru can become the same type of Digimon as he was and become a good Partner Digimon. This unlocks Alphamon as an evolution for Digimaru. Then, for a moment, Alphamon appears to Taiga and Plotmon, the latter realizing this was its lifesaver. Now sure they'll meet again, Plotmon promises to become stronger so it can protect itself without DORUmon, so if something like this repeats, it can prevent something sad from happening. It then leaves.
Alphamon reappears on the 100th floor to stop Yggdrasill_7D6, which he considers an evil will that destroys life, once more alongside Taiga. After the fight, Alphamon thanks Taiga for saving the world so many times and hopes they'll meet again once peace truly comes, before once again disappearing.

- According to Kakudou Hiroyuki, DORUmon didnt appear during the final arc of Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time along with the other prior Digimon lead heroes and their partners because Alphamon was considered too strong to be featured as part of the crossover.
