Profile[edit]
Kishiwada Kanchi[edit]
A high-ranking member of GIFT and a loyal aide to Miharu. He is cool-headed, composed, and unshakeable.
Sagomon[edit]
It possesses the "Kouyouhoujou" staff which demonstrates terrifying destructive power in the super-heavyweight class, it spins it freely to raise a waterspout (Kouyouhoujou: Kamon no Jin), and strikes the ground with its staff to shatter it and release a raging current (Kouyouhoujou: Taki no Jin). Also, for close combat it can stab with the crescent-moon shaped blade (Getsugazan).
Personality[edit]
Kanchi seldomly speaks or acts out in the open, but just like his cohort Kanada Genjo, he is a skilled trickster who plays multiple parties for his own designs.
As one of the three disguised Digimon, Kanchi is capable of supernatural feats such as Cold Hearting people by flashing a mysterious light on them and using Kouyouhoujou: Kamon no Jin through his disguise.
Appearances[edit]
Anime[edit]
Digimon Beatbreak[edit]
Sagomon first appears in "Cold Rain", where he was disguised as an unnamed adult man in a longcoat. He greets Kagemori Miharu from Fumamon's Mirror World to the GIFT Mirror World. He asked her on her whereabouts, but Miharu did not directly answer, instead telling him and Mephismon that Tenma Tomoro will come to them eventually. He was unnamed in the episode proper and his name is only known in the credits, where he was known as "Kishiwada Kanchi".
He later appeared in "Behind the Mask" where he cold hearted Otsuki before Tomoro can apprehend him by flashing a light on him, seemingly across a pedestrian bridge. Later when Miharu was attacked by Rose Woodville and Brilliant Thorn, he used Kouyouhoujou: Kamon no Jin to knock down Tsuwabuki Kanon's Oleamon and teleported Miharu away. Afterwards, he told Miharu that Tomoro is dangerous, but she continues to brush off his warning, believing that her goals and Tomoro's are one and the same.
After GIFT's collapse, Kanchi retrieved the White Core and used it to free Kuroshio Souji, the former "Water" of the Five Star who was disgraced and arrested for his serial killings. He gave him a Pitchmon and the White Core, so he could break out of prison. The Pitchmon evolved into a Marin Devimon and Cold Hearted a dozen staff. When Rose Woodville noticed Kanchi and Souji, the former officially gave the latter the White Core and encourages him to use Rose to test its power. For the rest of the Kyo Arc, he can be seen observing Kyo through various high places. After the party manages to defeat Souji, he comments that the White Core was already heavily darkened and makes his way towards Apraxas for the final preparations of the Shangri-La Project.
Kanchi then hands the White Core over to Chairman Wong in exchange for becoming the Star of Earth, replacing Klay Arslan's former position. After a brief scuffle between Glowing Dawn and Tenma Asuka (who is now under World Union control), Wong introduces him to Kutsuna Kaito and Sakai Honoka as a newcomer. Honoka believed that he was shady and nags Kaito about it, but Kaito only shrugs her off as they were in a meeting. When Glowing Dawn go to save Asuka, Kanchi was dispatched alongside Kaito and Honoka to stop them. There, he summons a Gogmamon he reinforced and got from a World Union lab to fight Kuonji Makoto, who merely temporarily disables them with Scourge Chiropmon's Silent Scream and leaves for Tomoro.
When Wong initiates the Shangri-La Project, Kanchi was there alongside Wong and Genjo. He explained to Rose Woodville that she was to eradicate all Cleaners that would otherwise pose a threat against it, causing her to defect alongside Kaito and Honoka (both who apparently went to a mutual agreement with her off-screen).
To stop the Shangri-La Project and save Asuka, the remaining members (without Kyo) joined forces with Tactics Team 7 to raid Apraxas. He was dispatched alongside fellow co-conspirator Nishino Senka to deal with Tactics, Reina and Makoto. Kanchi fights Reina and Makoto with a Death Meramon, Blue Meramon and the same Gogmamon prior, citing that the Digimon were merely "necessary sacrifices" for a greater good. Makoto and Reina manages to defeat all of the Digimon, but instead of continuing, Kanchi only states that "the time has come" and leaves. He then lands right on top of Tomoro and Asuka, removing the paint that would otherwise separate Asuka from Albatusmon and putting them back under Genjo's control.
Once all preparations for their plans are complete, the remaining members of the Five Stars went straight to betraying Wong and reveal themselves to be Digimon with their own designs. Kanchi partially Cold Hearts Wong by revealing a row of sharp teeth in his mouth and biting him by the shoulder before revealing himself as Sagomon. In a similar vein, the other two co-conspirators reveal themselves to be Cho Hakkaimon and Sanzomon. Sagomon, Gokuwmon and Cho Hakkaimon were then Jogressed by Sanzomon into Seiten Gokuwmon. With both Atratusmon and Albatusmon in tow, the Digimon destroyed and escaped from Apraxas and went straight into attacking the human world.
Sagomon in Digimon Beatbreak. |
After Volvemon defeats Seiten Gokuwmon, all of its components were devolved to their Baby I forms. Sagomon devolved into Pitchmon. Unlike other defeated Digimon, Sagomon seemingly lacks a Sapotama.[N 1]

Trivia[edit]
- The names of his and Cho·Hakkaimon's disguised forms are references to the actors of Saiyūki, the oldest TV Drama adaptation of Journey to the West. Specifically, Kishiwada (岸和田) references Kishibe Shirō (岸部 四郎), who interpreted Sa Gojō, the character that Sagomon is based on.
- The Kishi (岸) in his surname, coincidentally, can either mean shore, coast, or banks. This relates to the water powers he possesses, as well as his true identity.
