Having endured many years in harsh environments as Metal Tyranomon, its whole cyborg body shows signs of rust. Its tactics are geared towards annihilation warfare, and it is capable of ravaging an entire enemy base by itself. Rust Tyranomon has the nature of a Digimon predator, gorging on hundreds of thousands of Digimon within a short period without leaving a trace. Its Special Moves are extending forth the battery on its back and firing its large-scale electromagnetic cannon (Terror's Cluster), and spewing deep scarlet flames, the same color as its body (Rust Breath). Its "Rust Breath" induces a rusting effect on whatever it touches. Even in close combat, it pins the opponent down with its power and destructive force, which are top-class among Cyborg Digimon. When designing Rust Tyranomon, As'maria intended to put As'ma Green on it, but wasn't sure whether the Cyborg was a carrier of the X-Antibody, so he changed the color slightly so it can be interpreted as sensor lights or a Digicore or anything else.

Rust Tyranomon is a major supporting character in the Scheme of the Demon Lords chapter (策謀の魔王篇 Sakubō no Maō-hen) after evolving from Metal Tyranomon.

A Rust Tyranomon without a Tamer can be fought in the Colosseum 40th floor Free Battle: "Cyber Tyrant Dragon". This awards Taiga a Rust Tyranomon card.

It is also an obtainable Digimon which is evolved from Metal Tyranomon or Megalo Growmon, though it must be unlocked by progressing through the story first. It can also be obtained as a collectible card. Its card is part of the Tyrano Brothers (ティラノブラザーズ Tirano Burazāzu) set.
