Rook Chessmon (Black) is a member of ROG and the Lazy Elite of Barbamon's Shadow Guard. It is dispatched to protect one of the Condenser Towers and introduces itself when Xros Heart arrives.

Shoutmon challenges it with a declaration of checkmate, proclaiming his ambition to become the Digimon King and refusing to lose to a rook. After its defeat, Rook Chessmon responds that the true king is Barbamon and announces that it will be absorbed by him. It warns that a genuine checkmate will be far more serious than their present victory.
