| Vamdemon drives his carriage up to a woman walking in the street, then gets out and drinks blood from her neck just like a real vampire would. He arrives at the meeting point where Pico Devimon is waiting, and a different woman falls out when the door opens. Vamdemon tells Pico Devimon he needs to gather enough strength to fight the Chosen Children in this world, and his carriage lands on a boat that goes down the river.
In his room, Taichi is looking for something, and accidentally knocks a large amount of books off a shelf. Hikari walks in and he tells her he’s looking for his phone book from first grade. On the television, a reporter warns against the possibility of other strange animals (Digimon) appearing. He then says that two young women were found collapsed in the streets and were taken to the hospital due to sudden anemia. Koshiro comes to the door, and Taichi hides Agumon behind his back as he sneaks out the door. When they get outside, they see that Tentomon is wearing a disguise, and Agumon wants one too.
The Chosen Children meet up at the park, and Koshiro has told them about getting the eighth child’s signal on his Digivice. Taichi says that last time he came back, Digimon were appearing but only he and Hikari could see them. Now everyone can, and the media is reporting. Koshiro says it might have to do with the gate Vamdemon used. Jo runs up late, and Koshiro says that the eighth child most likely lived in Hikarigaoka at the same time they did, so it’s likely that he or she would be listed in the phone books. He then says they should call everyone and ask if they were in the area he got the Digivice signal last night, and the day should be spent walking around searching. Jo says he can call the names in his book, but he can’t go to look around because he’s starting summer school tomorrow. Mimi drops her book into his hands and tells him to call hers too. Yamato does the same, and Koshiro says it would probably be best for one person to focus on calling. Sora agrees. Taichi says he’s not going to push his workload onto Jo, who is delighted. Sora, walking away, guesses Taichi wasn’t able to find his book, and Koshiro laughingly confirms this.
On the train, the children see the wreckage from Koshrio’s fight with Raremon the night before. Pico Devimon is driving a boat downriver too, and arrives at the new headquarters. Tailmon is going out to look for the eighth child, but is stopped by Pico Devimon, who wants to search the area the child was last seen in. He mocks Tailmon before flying away, and she growls at his back.
The Chosen Children split up into groups to search, and Taichi goes with Koshiro. They see a large group of kids, but their Digivices don’t react. Yamato and Takeru are together, and also having no success. Jo is making awkward phone calls. Sora and Mimi are walking, and their Digimon are fighting over space in the stroller. Hikari chases her cat through the park, but loses track of it. She walks past Tailmon, and asks if she is a friend of Agumon. Tailmon turns around, startled, and makes cat noises. Hikari goes home, and Tailmon follows, wondering if this girl is the eighth child. Hikari calls to Tailmon, happily inviting her inside. She leaves the door open and watches the television.
Mimi groans, asking why they need to do this after they just got home. Sora agrees to a short break, and they sit in the shade. Sora crosses off another section on the map, and Mimi suggests a place with crowds of people, then points at the Tokyo Tower. Sora agrees. Death Meramon sees them go in, and follows. They go inside, and Mimi is delighted to be in the air conditioning. After a moment though, it starts to get hotter. The air conditioning shuts off, and everyone starts to wonder why. Mimi sees Death Meramon wrapped in a large coat to hide himself, and angrily asks how he’s wearing that, and says she feels hotter just looking at him. Sora tries to hush her, but Mimi says she doesn't care if he hears. He turns around, revealing his true form.
Koshiro notices that Tokyo Tower looks like it’s bending. Taichi pulls out his pocket telescope and sees Birdramon break out one of the windows, followed by Death Meramon. She uses Meteor Wing, but the flames don’t bother Death Meramon. Togemon’s Chiku Chiku Bang Bang isn’t strong enough to damage him. Kabuterimon flies overhead, and Koshiro analyzes Death Meramon. Death Meramon uses his attack Heavy Metal Fire, damaging the tower. Kabuterimon grabs it, holding it up so it won’t fall. Agumon evolves into Greymon and uses Mega Flame, but it only makes Death Meramon bigger. Koshrio warns that an Adult level isn’t a match for a Perfect, and Greymon super evolves to Metal Greymon. Togemon hits Death Meramon, but runs away on fire, much to Mimi’s exasperation. Metal Greymon throws Death Meramon into the air, then uses Giga Destroyer to finish him.
Tailmon watches Hikari, and decides she’s not a normal child. She resolves to kill the girl now, and walks over on the back of the couch. She lifts her paw, but falls over backwards when Hikari turns and smiles at her. She leaves the apartment then, and Hikari asks if she will come back. Tailmon runs away, thinking that she can’t act because she’s not sure Hikari really is the eighth child.
