Pico Devimon tells Vamdemon that both Mammon and Gesomon have been defeated by the Chosen Children, gleefully saying that Tailmon’s troops are useless. Vamdemon orders him to continue looking for the eighth child.
Taichi is walking home with Koromon, and says that Hikari remembered the fight between Greymon and another Digimon. This makes him wonder if Hikari is the eighth child. In their house, Hikari gives the cat a bowl of milk, then hears her parents come in. They have returned from visiting Hikari’s grandmother. As they talk, the cat finds Hikari’s Digivice, and picks it up. The cat takes it out to the balcony, and ends up knocking it over the edge. It runs down the stairs after it as Taichi gets home. He walks in the door and tearfully hugs his parents, to their confusion. Outside the building, another cat takes the Digivice and runs away with it, with the Yagami’s cat chasing.
Koshiro’s mother is on the phone, and the woman on the other line is saying how wonderful Koshiro is, and that her own children are rude and selfish in comparison. As she listens to the kids fighting on the other end, Koshiro walks in the door. He tells his mother that camp was cancelled, and politely apologies for worrying her. He then goes to his room and lets Tentomon in through the window. His mother knocks on the door, and he shoves Tentomon into the closet to hide him. A little later as his mother is making dinner, Koshiro says he is going to Taichi’s house to borrow one of his reference books. In reality, he goes to the hardware store to buy a lock for his room. He regretfully puts it on, but tells Tentomon it would be a problem if his parents found Tentomon in there. Tentomon notes that nice smells are coming from the kitchen, and says that Koshiro’s mom must be really great to make such good food. Koshiro agrees, but remembers listening to his parents as a little boy. His mother asked his father when they were going to tell Koshiro he was adopted, and his father said he wanted to wait a little longer. Koshiro was shocked.
His mother knocks on the door to say that dinner is ready, and asks if Koshiro has a friend over. Tentomon and Koshiro panic, and Koshiro says he was practicing Manzai, much to his mother’s surprise. (Manzai performers often speak in the Kansai dialect like Tentomon does.) At dinner Koshiro performs a short bit for his very surprised parents, and they tell him it was wonderful. Koshiro asks if he can eat the rest of his dinner in his room, thinking of Tentomon. His mother says he doesn’t need to eat anything he doesn’t want to, and Koshiro reassures her he loves all of her food, and thanks her for everything she does.
Taichi is eating a lot of food, and whenever his mother isn’t looking, he sneaks some to Koromon. He asks for more, saying he hasn’t tasted food so good in a long time. The cats with Hikari’s Digivice end up in a truck, and the delivery man shuts the Yagami’s cat in with the Digivice. After dinner, Koromon asks Hikari if she has a Digivice, and Taichi shows her his. She says she doesn’t. Taichi and Koromon are tired and fall asleep immediately.
The delivery truck with the Digivice goes over a bridge, and in the water below, Raremon sees the copy crest glowing. Nearby, Pico Devimon’s copy also reacts, and he gets up to follow it. The truck is parked for the night in a facility.
Koshiro looks at the programs Gennai put on his computer, and the first few are silly animations, to his disappointment. He clicks on the rader one, and sees that an unidentified Digimon is in the bay. The Digimon turns out to be Raremon, and Koshiro calls the other Chosen Children, but finds that they are all sleeping, and doesn’t want to wake them up. Following the crest’s signal, Raremon smashes a nightclub by the waterfront. Koshiro and Tentomon get a taxi, and Raremon breaks into the truck with the Digivice. The cat runs out with the Digivice, and Raremon chases it. Koshiro and Tentomon arrive, and as the cat runs by, Koshiro’s Digivice goes off. Koshiro says the eighth child is near, and Tentomon evolves to Kabuterimon and fights while Koshiro looks for the child.
Pico Devimon and Koshiro are both looking for the child, and the signal is moving quickly, due to the frantically running cat. Taichi’s mother wakes him up, telling him Koshiro called about something. Taichi calls the Izumi residence, and Koshrio’s mother picks up the phone. She thanks Taichi for watching over Koshiro and camp and letting Koshiro borrow his reference book. She takes on a surprised look after she says this, probably because Taichi gave away that Koshiro didn’t borrow a book. Koshiro’s mother knocks on his bedroom door, and then tries to go in. She is alarmed when she finds it locked, but Koshiro’s father tells her not to worry about it. She is concerned about Koshiro’s personality change, and wonders why half a day of camp would do that.
Raremon drags Kabuterimon underwater, but Kabuterimon manages to escape and finish Raremon with his Mega Blaster. A dog causes the Yagami’s cat to drop the Digivice, and as Koshiro runs up, a crow grabs the Digivice and carries it away. Pico Devimon flies up then too, and attacks Koshiro with his Pico Darts. Koshiro doges, but is defenseless alone. As Pico Devimon is about to attack again, Kabuterimon flies up and makes him flee. On the television, a live reporter sees Kabuterimon and Koshiro flying away. Koshiro is happy, even though they couldn’t find the eighth child, because this proved the child was in Odaiba. Pico Devimon reports the same information to Vamdemon, and the evil Digimon move their base of operations.
Tentomon and Koshiro climb in the window, and Tentomon says he used his energy up in the fight. Koshiro slips out to get him some food, and hears his parents again. His mother worries that he’s hiding something from them, and his father says they can’t blame him; they’re keeping something from him too. Koshiro’s mother says she wants Koshiro to act more like a child, telling them what he likes or doesn't, because that’s what being a kid is about.
Taichi and Hikari look off their balcony, Taichi wondering what Koshiro called about, and Hikari wonder where their cat went. Taichi’s Digivice blinks, and the crow with Hikari’s Digivice flies overhead.
