Evolution[edit]

Edits[edit]

English[edit]

  • Hikarigaoka is renamed "Highton View Terrace" in the Saban dub.
  • Mimi's friends Taako and Mii are renamed to "Terry" and "Michelle", respectively.
  • The bus driver's (accurate) directions on how to get to Hikarigaoka are replaced in the Saban dub with gibberish directions.
  • The Saban dub corrects its previous mistake in Episode 3 by having Yamato accurately state that his parents are divorced and that's why he and Takeru live separately.
  • The Saban dub makes the bizarre claim that "Highton View Terrace" is the tallest apartment complex in Japan.
  • Dai-san Elementary is called "Westside Elementary" in the Saban dub. The dub also inaccurately claims that Yamato went to that school. In the original version, he went to Dai-yon Elementary.
  • The Saban dub also fails to mention that Jou went to Dai-go Elementary.
  • The Saban dub removes a scene where a man gets hit on the head with his bicycle helmet.
  • Airings of this episode after September 11, 2001 remove all references to a terrorist attack being the cause of the incident in Hikarigaoka, most notably, Jou’s line about it being the worst of all time. The original version later resurfaced on Hulu, Netflix, DVD, and Blu-Ray. In this same scene, Japanese text on a sign behind Jou is replaced with English text reading "NEW MELLOW PLUM".
  • The kanji on the police car is erased in the dub.
  • The Saban dub removes a shot of young Taichi staring up at the footbridge.
