| Vamdemon attacks Lilimon with his Dead Scream, and her coloring fades to grey as she becomes unresponsive. Mimi runs to where Lilimon fell, next to Sora and her mother. Birdramon picks up Lilimon, and at her mother and Mimi’s insistence, Sora leaves with the Digimon, promising to come back and save everyone.
In the warehouse where some of the children are hiding, Yamato tells Taichi that the entire area of Odaiba is cut off from the world because of the fog. Taichi angrily says that Vamdemon is doing all this, taking everyone prisoner, just to find the eighth child. Hikari guiltily asks if this is her fault, and if everyone was captured to protect her. Taichi gently reassures her that it is Vamdemon’s fault, and no one else's. He promises to fix everything, and asks her to stay there. He asks Yamato to watch her, and says if he’s not back in two hours, they should get out of there. Yamato agrees, and Taichi rushes off immediately.
Koshiro gets an email from Gennai, who tells him to put up a digital barrier immediately. Koshiro starts to work, typing frantically and uploading programs to the computer on his desk. Tentomon looks out the window, saying the bad Digimon are getting closer.
Across the river, Takeru and his mother find out that the bridges and boats are all closed. The crowd they’re in becomes aggressive, and Takeru loses his mother in the rush.
In Koshrio’s apartment complex, Bakemon are taking everyone, and his parents rush in, telling him they need to go. Koshiro says it’s safer in his room, and his mother tries to pull him away. His father stops her, suggesting they trust Koshiro. She agrees, and Koshiro’s computer finishes loading. The screen flashes right as the Bakemon break in. It looks right at Koshiro’s parents, but sees nothing. The raiding group leaves, and Tentomon congratulates Koshiro, causing his already shocked mother to pass out.
In the holding center, Pico Devimon puts all of the adult to sleep with his Akuma no Sasayaki, saying they're going to be Vamdemon's meal. Tailmon is still being forced to look at the children, and Vamdemon opens a dark portal behind her, reminding her that if she lies, he will kill all of the children. This causes the already frightened kids to start crying, and Tailmon bows her head, worried.
Jo gets out of a crowd, and Takeru walks up to him, happy to see him. Jo explains he was in school here when everything started. The two observe that Odaiba is probably under siege by Vamdemon, and Jo says he’s going to get there any way he can. Takeru asks how, and Jo holds up his bag. Gomamon pops out, and says he’s ready. He evolves to Ikkakumon and jumps into the water. His appearance causes a commotion, and as he starts to swim away with Jo and Takeru, Takeru’s mother runs after them, telling him it’s dangerous. Takeru reassures her that Ikkakumon is a friend, and Jo says he’ll take care of Takeru. She still doesn’t like the idea, but they leave her on the dock.
Koshiro’s mother wakes up, and Gennai is telling Koshiro the fog around Odaiba is a magical barrier Vamdemon created. Gennai says if they destroy the origin place of the fog, the fog will go away. He shows them on the map, and Koshiro identifies the building as the Fuji television station. He and Tentomon get up to go, and Koshiro tells his parents to stay in the house for the time being, because they don’t know when Bakemon might come again. His mother tells him to be careful, and come back. Koshiro’s eyes start tearing up, but when he turns around, the tears are gone and he confidently tells them he’ll be back.
Taichi attacks a Bakemon sitting down, and tries to get information from him before he sees Sora on Birdramon flying above him. She lands and tells him where Vamdemon is holding everyone. Taichi says he wants her to bring Yamato, who is with Hikari. They split up quickly, but Fantomon was watching invisibly, and follows Sora.
Tentomon and Koshiro run up the television center. Koshiro says they need to make sure no people are inside before destroying it, and they go in. In the warehouse, Hikari is talking to Yamato. She asks if Taichi will really be able to save everyone. Yamato answers a little too honestly, saying with Taichi on his own the odds aren’t great. Hikari starts to cry.
Jo and Takeru are about to hit the thickest part of the fog, and hear an odd noise. When they get closer, they see Mega Seadramon, who is curled around Rainbow Bridge. When he moves, the bride starts to snap, and breaks in the middle. Ikkakumon attacks with Harpoon Vulcan, and Mega Seadramon is not bothered, countering with his Thunder Javelin. Jo and Takeru both fall into the water. Patamon tries to help Takeru swim, but the boy sinks quickly. Jo pulls him up and gives him a piece of wood to float with, saying he promised Takeru’s mother he’d take care of him. Jo starts to sink in the water, and his Crest lights up brilliantly. Ikkakumon evolves into Zudomon, and lifts Jo, Takeru and Patamon in his hand. He attacks Mega Seadramon with Hammer Spark, and beats him quickly. He swims towards Odaiba.
Koshiro and Tentomon are searching for the source of the fog within the building, not wanting to destroy the entire thing. A Bakemon on patrol passes, and Koshiro tries to back up, but another is coming from the other side. Yamato’s father reaches out of a room and grabs him, pulling him into the dark. The Bakmon pass, unaware.
The fog has closed in on Zudomon again, and no one can see. They hear a voice in the fog, and Wizarmon floats up, clinging to a log. He says he needs to go to Tailmon. He holds up the Crest, saying it’s the original, and needs to get to Tailmon as soon as possible before slumping over.
Yamato looks at his Digivice, saying the two hours are nearly up. Sora flies down, and Yamato and Hikari walk out to see her. Fantomon reveals himself, saying even if he doesn’t find the eighth child, he will be rewarded for killing them. He brings out Tuskmon and Snimon to attack. Gabumon evolves to Garurumon and starts to wrestle Tuskmon. Birdramon engages Snimon. Hikari looks on in horror. Garurumon is shoved away, and Fantomon throws his chain around Yamato’s neck and flings Sora aside. Birdramon evolves to Garudamon, but is still beaten. Hikari desperately screams at them to stop, and far away, her Crest starts to glow in Wizarmon’s hand. She steps forward, saying she’s the eighth child, and volunteers to come quietly if he’ll stop hurting everyone. Fantomon agrees, calling off his allies and releasing Yamato. A bubble appears around Hikari, and Fantomon takes her away despite Yamato and Sora’s protesting.
