History[edit]
Ten years prior the events of Digimon Savers, mysterious events were occurring. For no apparent reason, people began disappearing one after another. Yushima and Satsuma, detectives at the time, were investigating these sudden cases. In response to those events at the time, a special team was organized, that was the Digital World Exploration Party, the predecessors of DATS. After returning to Real World failing to find Ikuto, Professor Daimon, still in the Digital World, sent blueprints for the Digivice iC and plans to establish an organization which would eventually become DATS.
DATS Headquarters[edit]
After the DATS Team returned to the Real World upon the fall of Mercurymon, Kurata tricked Chief Hashiba into thinking that the members of DATS were traitors. In response to this, Hashiba orders them to have their memories erased as well as being put in confinement. After Masaru and the others managed to regain their memories, through the help of their partners, Kurata destroys the HQ building, before quickly escaping to the Digital World.
The Headquarters was eventually rebuilt as well as many areas globally, following the widespread destruction caused by the Royal Knights, Yggdrasill's rampage and the close collision between the Human and Digital Worlds. However, after the remaining Digimon in the Human World were sent back to the Digital World through the Digital Dive machine, the organization was disbanded.

Digimon Savers[edit]
DATS is a secret organization established to investigate and deal with incidents involving Digimon that appear in the Real World. Its activities are kept hidden from the general public. As Digimon can generally only be effectively opposed by other Digimon, DATS agents operate alongside Partner Digimon, using Digivice iCs and their Digisoul to evolve them when confronting hostile Digimon. Digimon defeated during these incidents are reverted into Digitama and returned to the Digital World through a Digital Dive.
Fujieda Yoshino is initially dispatched to capture Agumon, who is classified by DATS as "Raptor-1". After Daimon Masaru demonstrates his ability to generate Digisoul and cause Agumon to evolve into Geo Greymon, Satsuma Rentarou recruits the pair into DATS. Masaru subsequently operates alongside Yoshino and Lalamon, and Thoma H. Norstein and Gaomon, investigating Digimon incidents in the Real World.
DATS is commanded by Satsuma and operates under the authority of the National Confidentiality Ministry, whose representative, Director Hashiba, exercises authority over the organization. Kurosaki Miki and Shirakawa Megumi provide support from DATS Headquarters alongside their respective Pawn Chessmon and Pawn Chessmon. DATS also possesses technology that allows it to detect Digimon activity, open Digital Gates, and perform Digital Dives between the Real and Digital Worlds. Agents additionally carry equipment used for memory processing, allowing the organization to erase civilians' memories of Digimon-related incidents and preserve its secrecy.
As encounters with Digimon increase, DATS becomes involved in the growing conflict between humans and Digimon. Following the appearance of Piyomon and the subsequent confrontation with Mercurymon, the team travels to the Digital World in an attempt to resolve the conflict. There, they discover the role played by Kurata Akihiro in the hostility between the two worlds and his intention to exterminate Digimon.
After Kurata returns to the Real World ahead of the team, he manipulates the National Confidentiality Ministry into regarding DATS as traitors. Satsuma is arrested, the organization is effectively dissolved, and Masaru, Thoma, Yoshino, and their families have their memories concerning DATS and Digimon erased. Their Partner Digimon subsequently escape confinement and reunite with them, causing their memories to return. Kurata later destroys DATS Headquarters while fleeing to the Digital World.
Despite the destruction of its headquarters, the former members of DATS continue acting together against Kurata and later Yggdrasill and the Royal Knights. DATS Headquarters is eventually rebuilt following the conflict. After the separation of the Human and Digital Worlds is restored and the Digimon remaining in the Human World return to the Digital World, DATS is disbanded.

Digimon Savers: Another Mission[edit]
DATS investigates a series of incidents in which children mysteriously disappear. Daimon Masaru, Thoma H. Norstein, and Fujieda Yoshino are joined in the investigation by Nitta Masaki, a DATS member partnered with Leomon, as well as Noguchi Ikuto and Falcomon.
The investigation eventually leads DATS into conflict with the Seven Great Demon Lords, who have begun appearing in connection with the missing children and the seven Code Keys. The team is also assisted by Kagura Tsukasa, whose younger sister, Kagura Yuma, is among the missing children.
As DATS defeats the Demon Lords and recovers the Code Keys, it becomes apparent that the incidents are connected to a larger plan involving the Dark Area. Tsukasa is ultimately revealed to have orchestrated the events in order to release Lucemon from the Dark Area and obtain its power. DATS confronts Lucemon and works to prevent Tsukasa's plan from being completed.
