Summary[edit]
Strange weather events were occurring all over Earth. Droughts were plaguing Southeast Asia, the Middle East was suffering heavy floods, and America sustained freezing temperatures.
At school summer camp, a camping trip is hit by a sudden blizzard. Of the students, Taichi, Yamato, Kōshirō, Jo, Sora, Mimi take shelter in a hokora. When the blizzard stops, all of them step outside save for Kōshirō who attempts to establish an Internet connection only to find no reception. Then see an Aurora outside and call Kōshirō out to see it. Kōshirō states that it's weird for that to occur in Japan. Jo and Yamato state that they should find an adult, but are interrupted by what appears to be a meteor strike. Though, on further inspection they discover that what landed were small electric devices, each of which float up to a member of the group. A portal then opens up in the sky and sucks them into an alternate dimension.
Taichi wakes on hearing someone call his name. He responds that he's okay, but is shocked to see that the voice came from a bouncing pink ball like creature named Koromon. Kōshirō then meets up with Taichi accompanied by another creature called Motimon who tells them that they're on File Island. On Taichi's suggestion, they begin to explore the island. Taichi climbs to the top of a tree and looks through his compact telescope.
He notices a giant red stag beetle that promptly attacks him, narrowly missing as it tore the top off of the tree. Motimon explains fearfully that it is an aggressive Digimon called Kuwagamon. Koromon attacks Kuwagamon with Awa hitting it in the face but fails to do any real damage. Kuwagamon hits Koromon sending him falling out of the tree. Taichi picks Koromon up and tells him not to be reckless, but thanks him also for saving him.
Motimon tells them to follow him, and they flee into a holographic entrance into a metal tree, where they hide. After Kuwagamon leaves, they here Sora telling them that it's safe to come out. They find that Sora also has a plant-like creature called Pyocomon with her. Another creature, Tokomon, runs up to him, closely followed by Takeru, Yamato. Yamato held yet another creature called Tunomon in his arms. Jo then runs into the group while fleeing a creature called Pukamon. He becomes even more freaked when seeing the other creatures. The creatures then explain that they are Digital Monsters, The Digimon all introduce themselves and Taichi introduces all of the humans, save for Takeru who he didn't know, prompting Takeru to introduce himself. They then realize they were still missing Mimi. On cue, they hear her scream and run to her, and her Digimon Tanemon, to find them fleeing Kuwagamon.
The group flees again. Taichi begins to lose his temper, but Yamato reminds him that they don't have any weapons to fight with, so they continue to run until they find themselves on a cliff. The Digimon all try attacking Kuwagamon at once, and they cause it to lose control of its flight and crash into some trees, but not before running through all of their Digimon, throwing them to the ground. Each of them pick up their Digimon to comfort them. Kuwagamon gets back up and approaches on land. Their Digimon partners say they have to fight Kuwagamon and leap out of their arms.
They suddenly begin evolving. Koromon becomes Agumon, Pyokomon becomes Piyomon, Motimon becomes Tentomon, Tunomon becomes Gabumon, Tokomon becomes Patamon, Pukamon becomes Gomamon and Tanemon becomes Palmon. The newly evolved Digimon jump Kuwagamon, but he just swats them away. Kuwagamon attempts to take flight, but Palmon traps his foot with her Poison Ivy attack, while Patamon and Tentomon attack with Air Shot and Petit Thunder. When Kuwagamon lands Gomamon trip him creating an opening for Agumon, Gabumon and Piyomon to attack with Baby Flame, Petit Fire, and Magical Fire dazing Kuwagamon. The partner Digimon then all attack again, knocking Kuwagamon behind some trees. They group celebrates embracing their Digimon, but this proves premature as Kuwagamon gets back up and jams his pincers into the cliff, breaking it off, sending them all plunging into the river.

Quotations[edit]
English[edit]
- The narration at the beginning of the episode detailing the strange events happening across Japan is replaced with narration from Taichi in the Saban dub.
- The Saban dub makes the incorrect claim that this episode takes place in the middle of July.
- Some of the children's names are changed to more "Americanized" names in the Saban dub. Taichi Yagami becomes "Tai Kamiya", Yamato Ishida is changed to "Matt Ishida", Koushiro Izumi becomes "Izzy Izumi", Jou Kido is romanized to "Joe Kido", and Takeru Takaishi is changed to simply "TK Takaishi". The Filipino English dub produced for Animax leaves all the names intact. In addition, the Saban dub has Taichi giving information about each of the other kids as they are introduced.
- The Saban dub makes a point of specifically not mentioning Japan in the first half of the series. An example can be seen here when Koushiro's mention of Japan when talking about how the Northern Lights are not visible there is removed.
- Mimi's personality in the Saban dub is changed to a stereotypical "girly girl" who is obsessed with fashion and is not very bright.
- Taichi's horrified reaction to meeting Koromon for the first time is rewritten to be a joke about camp food.
- Taichi incorrectly refers to Koromon as female in the Animax dub.
- The Saban dub claims that Koromon's name means "brave little warrior", even though koro is really the Japanese onomatopoeic word for rolling. No such claim exists in the Japanese or Animax versions.
- The Saban dub frequently misnames the Digital World as "DigiWorld".
- File Island is not referred to by name in the Saban dub.
- Kuwagamon's insect-like noises are replaced by more monstrous roars in the Saban dub.
- Tsunomon's shy personality is not carried over to the Saban dub.
