Rinkmon

Profile Name & Etymology Debut Design & Analysis Digimon Reference Book Digimon Life Virtual Pets Anime & Manga Misc ⇨ Original An Armor-level Mutant Digimon that evolved through the power of the "Digimental of Friendship". It is a Cyborg Digimon created from the sample data of an experiment where elementary particles were accelerated to the speed of light in an accelerator. It is said to have been born from the fusion of that sample data, a Digimon raised for experimental use, and the Digimental. A very agile Digimon, it can accelerate up to 98 percent of the speed of light, so there are no Digimon who can rival Rinkmon in speed. In contrast to its outstanding speed, however, its strength is weak and it does not fare well in fighting and hand-to-hand combat. Its Special Move, "Spinning Cutter", is rapidly spinning its body with its prided speed, and tearing through the enemy using the cutters on both of its arms. This profile matches its partner in the Digimon Reference Book. Year Active 2000 Digimon Reference Book Entry Date March 1, 2013 V-Pet D-Terminal Card Bo-315 Rinkmon may be inspired by, and in part named after, the character of Jet Link (a.k.a. 002) from Ishinomori Shotaro's superhero manga Cyborg 009. Design allusions to Jet Link that are present in this Digimon include its headgear's long, swept-back shape ending in spikes (resembling Jet Link's hair), its scarf (a common design motif in Ishinomori characters), and the two yellow dots on its chestplate. They also share in common the ability to move at superhuman speeds, as well as a deficiency in strength and physical combat prowess (this is the case for Jet Link in the original manga, but not all subsequent adaptations). Rinkmon is also equipped with blades on its feet that resemble ice skates. Its name also alludes to this, given that ice skates are used on ice rinks.
