Takeru and Patamon are falling, their bed going into a steep slant as they cling to the headboard. It goes over a large waterfall and lands in a lake. Patamon pulls Takeru out of the water.
Later, after the sun is rising, Takeru tugs on his hoodie. He thanks Patamon for helping him. Then he looks up at the huge waterfall in front of him and starts to cry. Patamon, alarmed, asks what’s wrong. Takeru sobs that they’re separated from his brother and the rest of the group. Patamon wants to help, and imagines that in this situation, Piyomon would evolve and fly them away. Patamon then also starts to cry, wondering why he can’t evolve like everyone else and help. This startles Takeru out of his crying, and he asks Patamon what’s wrong. The Digimon says he wants to evolve and fly high in the sky. Takeru curiously asks Patamon what he would evolve into. Patamon is distracted enough to stop crying, and says he doesn’t know. Takeru says he’ll probably evolve into Tabun Konnomon, a small pig Digimon he makes up on the spot. Patamon looks unhappy and says no, he won’t evolve to that. Takeru says that then he’ll have to become Kitto Konnamon, a slightly larger, yellower hog Digimon. Patamon protests vehemently, and Takeru starts to come up with a new Digimon. Patamon tells him to forget it, and that he just won't evolve.
They walk around looking for something familiar. They find a train track crossing, and the bars go down. Nothing goes past and after a minute the barriers lift again. Takeru picks a random direction and they go that way. They eventually arrive in a village made out of giant toy blocks. As they run to see it, they find that the streets are bouncy, and leap around in delight before laying on the soft cushions. After a moment, Patamon says that something is over there, out of their line of sight. Takeru wants to go look, and they find a large field full of cradles and oddly colored eggs. Inside the cradles are baby Digimon that Patamon says are newborn.
Patamon and Takeru walk around looking and enjoying the variety of Digimon. Takeru walks over to the eggs, and asks Patamon what they are. Patamon says they’re Digieggs. Takeru is interested to learn that all Digimon hatch from eggs. Patamon finds a small envelope that was tucked under the egg Takeru is holding. He opens it, and the paper inside reads ‘rub me’. They wonder who wants to be rubbed, and Takeru guesses the eggs. He rubs the egg he’s holding and it hatches into a Poyomon. Patamon says oh, that’s how it works. Takeru asks him why he didn’t know already, and Patamon points out that you can’t remember stuff from when you’re a baby. Takeru thinks, and vaguely remembers playing with some blocks a long time ago while Yamato plays his harmonica. Takeru fell over and started crying, and Yamato came to pick him up. Takeru agrees that it isn’t very easy to remember everything. They happily run off to find more eggs to rub.
Elecmon is fishing in nearby stream, and uses his Sparkling Thunder to stun a large amount of fish. He throws them out of the water and starts dragging them home in a large net. Back at the village, all the babies are whimpering, and Takeru and Patamon are trying to cheer them up. Elecmon hears the babies crying, and runs back to check on them. He sees Patamon and Takeru and immediately attacks with Sparkling Thunder. Patamon pushes Takeru away and tells Elecmon that it's dangerous. Elecmon says of course it is, and prepares to attack again. Patamon asks why, and Elecmon says they were bullying his babies. Takeru says they were just looking at them, and Elecmon says that’s not their job. Patamon and Elecmon start to argue, and begin to fight. Takeru watches nervously, quietly saying stop. Unseen, the gauge on his Digivice starts to fill up. Takeru doesn’t want a fight though, and he yells loudly for Patamon and Elecmon to stop. They are surprised, and do as he says. Takeru says that fighting is bad, and they are scaring the babies. Patamon and Elecmon worriedly apologize to the little ones, but start shooting snide comments back and forth. They want to fight again, and Takeru says they need to do it fairly. He sets up a tug-of-war match, and begins the match. The Digimon start pulling, and Elecmon loses. Patamon throws him into a foam block, which bursts like a pillow, sending feathers everywhere.
Elecmon apologizes for being so harsh, and explains that all the weird stuff happening has put him on edge. Takeru says that fighting between friends is ok, because you make up soon, but fighting between adults… he trails off, probably thinking about his parents. Elecmon wholeheartedly welcomes them to the village and says that they can stay as long as they need. Takeru asks how to get back to Infinity Mountain, and Elecmon is horrified. Takeru says he needs to ask Devimon where he sent the rest of his friends. Elecmon points out that Devimon won’t tell them, and says that they’ll have to fight him. Takeru says he doesn't want to fight. Patamon says there must be another way. Takeru says that if everyone’s hearts become one, then something will happen.
Devimon stands atop his mountain, and watches all of the children. He muses that he didn’t mean for this much to happen, and wanted to destroy them before anyone evolved. He says it doesn’t matter, as long as he gets the one who hasn’t done it yet. He says as long as he defeats one Chosen Child, his victory is assured. He sends Leomon to hunt down Takeru and Patamon.
In the Primary Village, Patamon and Takeru watch a Botamon evolve into a Koromon. Patamon looks worried, and Takeru asks if wants to evolve too. Patamon says he’s happy to stay the way he is, and be with Takeru forever. They promise they’ll be friends forever.
Right outside the town, Leomon is standing on top of a hill, ready to rush in.
