Summary[edit]
Spoiler Warning | |
---|---|
Jo and Gomamon’s bed is floating in the ocean. Jo is leaning over the headboard, very seasick. He groans that this is why he didn’t want to come to camp, then turns to see Gomamon eating food from the bag. Jo crawls over, grabbing the bag in horror. He asks Gomamon if he ate all of it, to which the Digimon nods once, causing Jo to scream again that this is why he didn’t want to come to camp. He tells Gomamon that he had to study for entrance exams to get into a prestigious middle school. Gomamon says there’s no reason to tell him that because there’s nothing he can do. Jo shakes Gomamon and says that there is no one else there to tell. Gomamon says he should have more hope so he doesn't get seasick, and Jo demands to know what hope and seasickness have to do with each other. He then covers his mouth and scrambles to the side of the bed, throwing up into the water. Gomamon sighs, patting his back and saying that this is why he should have more hope.
A crate floats up out of the mist and bumps against the bed. They are ready to try and open it when Orgemon pops out, smashing the crate as he leaves it. He begins to attack them, and after a moment breaks the bed in half. Gomamon uses his attack Marching Fishes, and it briefly overwhelms Orgemon before he swats them aside with Haouken. Gomamon evolves to Ikkakumon just in time to stop Jo from being crushed. Orgemon attacks first, then Ikkakumon distracts him with Harpoon Vulcan so that he and Jo can swim away. Orgemon tries to follow, but can’t swim. After they’re out of sight, Ikkakumon soon loses his energy and degenerates to Gomamon. He and Jo both start sinking quickly. Sora is trying to catch a fish on the shore of an island. Piyomon hops over to her and says food would be great. Sora says the bait is only a twig, so they might not get anything. Piyomon says she can’t see much because of the thick fog, but she thinks they’re on an island. Suddenly Sora’s fishing line goes taut, and she starts pulling as hard as she can. Piyomon helps, and when the end of the line comes up, it is revealed that Jo is on it along with Gomamon. Sora and Piyomon reel them in. On the island, the four of them are gathered around a fire. Jo is still unconscious, and Gomamon explains what happened. He starts with Orgemon and ends with himself waking underwater and managing to drag Jo to Sora’s fishing line. He then says Jo is becoming more and more timid, and wants to try and restore his confidence. He says that they should make him their leader so that he can gain more self-assurance. Jo suddenly wakes up, putting on his glasses. Sora says they don’t know where anyone else is, so Jo should be their leader. He is shocked, and Piyomon and Gomamon agree with Sora. Jo waffles for a minute, and the others insist that they need him to be their leader. He agrees. From somewhere else on the island, a bell starts ringing. They wonder what it is. The fog lifts enough that they can see something that they think is a church on top of the hill behind them. Piyomon starts to fly over, but Sora stops her and pointedly asks Jo what they should do. He awkwardly stammers for a moment, then leads everyone up the hill. After they make it up the steep incline, they see that it is a church. Jo happily says that they can finally meet other humans there, and Sora skeptically asks if he still believes that. Jo snaps that of course he does. Sora sighs, saying he has no proof. Jo says that he is the LEADER and storms off towards the church. Sora wonders aloud what he’s getting so worked up about, and Gomamon says that he’s becoming more of a leader. Jo is reluctant to scout out the church, and Sora reminds him that he’s the leader. Gomamon offers to go, but Jo insists that the leader can do it, and walks off quickly, causing everyone else to giggle. Jo sees that there’s a group of masked people in the church dancing. He runs back to tell the others, and they’re just as shocked. As they’re looking around the corner, a robed person comes up behind them. They wonder aloud what’s going on, and the person says it’s a festival where they give offerings to Bakemon. The stranger leads them inside the church, showing them around a little. Gomamon asks who this Bakemon is. He says he’s only heard of one Bakemon, a horrible Digimon who roams graveyards, and wonders why they speak of him so respectfully. The man is angry, saying that those who speak rudely of Bakemon are not to be forgiven. He then says that their offering to Bakemon is the children and their Digimon. His mask cracks and shatters, revealing that he is a Bakemon. All the other people turn as their masks splinter, and soon a large group of Bakemon subdues the group after they try to run. Sora and Jo are tied on the altar at the front of the church, and their Digimon are locked in a cell under them. The Bakemon surround Jo and Sora, chanting. Jo groans that he knew he should have stayed home studying instead of going to camp. The Bakemon salt and pepper Sora and Jo, and they realize that Bakemon wants to eat them. In the stone cell, Piyomon and Gomamon find that the walls are solid, and they can’t get out. Gomamon says that they should trick the sleeping Bakemon guard into letting them out. He throws a small pebble and wakes the guard up. Piyomon and Gomamon tell the guard that they want to be tortured. He is confused, and calls them weird. They say that they’re hungry, so the guard should eat something in front of them and not let them have it. When he’s still reluctant, Gomamon baits the guard by asking if the graveyard is so poor that they don’t have any food. Angrily, he says they have plenty, and starts to eat some. Gomamon says they’re so hungry that they can’t see. The guard moves closer. Piyomon says that they’re so hungry they can’t smell anything. The guard moves even closer, and they reach through the bars and smash the Bakemon against them. A short while later, they’ve eaten enough to have all their energy back. Upstairs, Jo and Sora are understandably stressed, and are starting to bicker. The Bakemon begin to call their leader. He appears as Piyomon and Gomamon start to evolve. They burst up through the floor just before Jo and Sora are harmed. They all run outside, and begin fighting. The Bakemon is overpowering Birdramon and Ikkakumon, and Jo points out that he’s a ghost, and probably pretty strong. This gives him an idea. He says that to beat the ghost they need to chant a sutra, and Bakemon’s power will weaken. Jo says his grandmother taught him one so he could pray to do better on exams. He begins to chant, and tells Sora to get a ritual drum. She looks around frantically, then removes her hat and gets a stick. As Jo chants, Bakemon begins to back away, shrinking slightly. Birdramon and Ikkakumon use Harpoon Vulcan and Meteor Wing. This finishes Bakemon. As they celebrate, the ground cracks. They look inside it, and see that the black gears there have stopped. They reverse direction, and the island fragment starts to move back to Infinity Mountain. Sora and Jo say that the others might be there, and get on their Digimon to move faster. |

English[edit]
- Orgemon’s line clarifying that he can’t swim is removed from the dub.
- The dub adds numerous references to Halloween, despite the festival having nothing to do with it.
- The graveyard is not referred to by name in the dub.
- Joe’s sutra is replaced by a simple chant in the dub, presumably because American audiences would not understand what a sutra is, or because it is a religious reference.
- The hit that Bakemon takes from Ikkakumon is censored.
