| Jo, Taichi, Mimi and their Digimon land their swan paddle boat on the shore, and as they all get off, Yamato runs up with Takeru, Koshiro, and their partners. The group is happy to be reunited, and start to wonder where Sora is. Mimi says she might have seen Sora, in the Gekomon’s palace, but can’t remember whether she was dreaming or not. Koromon says that now that he’s thinking about it, the voice that told him not to eat the mushrooms of forgetfulness at the amusement park sounded like Sora’s. The children start following their Digivices into the forest, looking for Sora.
In a dark castle, Vamdemon is punishing Pico Devimon for his failures. He says that one after another, all the Crests are beginning to light. Pico Devimon says that not all of them have, and that Sora, with the Crest of Love, will never make hers glow because he’s given her some advice. Vamdemon tells Pico Devimon to call him when all the children are together, and leaves.
Most of the Chosen Children are walking through the forest, calling for Sora. As the sun starts to set, Jo proposes that they rest. Mimi sinks to the ground, saying she’s tired. Yamato and Taichi are reluctant to stop, saying Sora should be very close. Suddenly Flymon comes and attacks them with Deadly Stinger several times. Tunomon and Koromon evolve into Gabumon and Agumon, but Flymon is too fast for any of the Child levels to beat. Birdramon flies over the trees and attacks Flymon with Meteor Wing, finishing him quickly. She flies off away from everyone, and Taichi, Yamato, and Takeru run after her, wanting to find Sora. Sora hears them coming and starts running, but as she is, Taichi comes out of the bushes in front of her. Yamato comes up behind, and she is trapped. They ask what’s going on, and she just stares at the ground. Takeru runs up with the three Digimon, and asks Sora if she hates them now. She says that’s not it. Piyomon flies up, and asks Sora why she doesn’t tell them. Sora hesitantly begins her story.
She says that after she and Piyomon left to look for Taichi, they found someone in a forest. She saw Pico Devimon talking to a dark figure about their Crests. She tells Taichi that his Crest represents courage, then names everyone else's, saying Yamato’s is the Crest of Friendship, Takeru’s is the Crest of Hope, Koshiro has the Crest of Knowledge, Jo has the Crest of Sincerity, Mimi’s is the Crest of Purity, and her own is the Crest of Love. Taichi smiles and says that is perfect for her, and she yells that it’s not. He protests that she always thinks about everyone else, and she cuts him off, saying she doesn’t care about them, and he doesn’t know her. She catches herself and apologies. Taichi asks what’s wrong, and she says that her Crest won’t glow because she has no love.
Takeru asks what Sora means by not having any love, and Taichi sighs that girls are so much trouble. Yamato rebukes him, telling him not to make fun of Sora, and he protests that he’s just joking. Sora says that Pico Devimon spoke to her, laughing at her and saying that she was raised without any real love, so she can’t understand it and make her Crest glow. Taichi says that Pico Devimon was obviously lying, and Sora shakes her head. She says that when she was on a girls soccer team, she was their best striker. She tried to get her mom to take her to the match, saying it’s a really important game. Her mother tells Sora to lower her voice so the flowers don’t wilt and then that Sora can’t go to the game because her leg is hurt, despite Sora’s protesting. Her mother says she wants Sora to quit soccer and learn how to arrange flowers with her. Taichi remembers that Sora’s family is famous for Japanese flower arranging, and Sora agrees. She says that her team lost the game badly, and she couldn’t stay in that club anymore. She concludes that her mother just sees her as a successor for their flower arrangement school, and she doesn’t understand love.
She tries to throw her Crest, and Taichi stops her, saying she still can’t believe anything Pico Devimon says. Sora starts to cry, and Taichi awkwardly asks Yamato what to do. Yamato says to let Sora cry if she wants to, and the Digimon comment on his maturity. Takeru walks up to Sora and thanks her for telling them not to eat the mushrooms back at the amusement park. Piyomon says that the two of them figured Pico Devimon was up to no good, so they followed him around, and that they were at Digitamamon’s restaurant. Taichi says she didn’t have to hide, and Piyomon said she wanted to be alone, but couldn't leave them completely. Takeru says he really likes Sora, and asks her not to leave them again. Sora sniffs and says she won’t. Everyone else runs up, and Pico Devimon sees them from the bushes and goes to get Vamdemon.
Vamdemon leaves his castle in a carriage pulled by a Devidramon. That night, the children sleep around a fire. Pico Devimon sneaks up and pulls out a dart, preparing to use his Pico Darts to pick off a few of the children before Vamdemon gets there. Piyomon stirs at the last moment, and shields Sora with her body. Pico Devimon’s dart hits her, and she immediately becomes woozy. Sora cries out in worry, and everyone else wakes up, seeing Pico Devimon. Before they can fight him, Vamdemon arrives. His dark carriage drops him out, and he lands in front of them. Sora recognizes him as the Digimon who Pico Devimon was talking to before.
Vamdemon uses his Night Raid attack. The Digimon jump forward, Mochimon evolving to Tentomon. They use their attacks to fend off Vamdemon’s, but only temporarily. Palmon evolves to Togemon, and uses Chiku Chiku Bang Bang. Gomamon evolves to Ikkakumon and uses Harpoon Vulcan on Vamdemon. Vamdemon ignores it, and attacks all the Digimon with his Bloody Stream, knocking them aside.
Piyomon, held in Sora’s arms, weakly says that she has to fight. Sora refuses, and Piyomon struggles, trying to get away. She asks Sora why she won’t understand, mimicking Sora’s own words to her mother when Sora wanted to go to her soccer match. Sora freezes as she realizes this, suddenly understanding that her mother really was worried about her. Piyomon evolves to Birdramon, and Vamdemon knocks her out of the sky easily. Sora runs after her, yelling her name as her Crest starts to burn red. Birdramon super evolves to Garudamon, then pushes Vamdemon back with Shadow Wing. As Vamdemon is blocking it, Garudamon picks everyone up and flees while he is distracted.
After they’re safe, Taichi says he told Sora it would be alright. Sora explains that she didn’t realize it, but she was acting just like her mom when she told Piyomon not to go, and her mother loved her all along. Pyocomon says she felt Sora’s love. Taichi says he wants some of Sora’s love too, causing Jo to turn red and ask if he understands what he’s saying. Mimi asks Jo if he wants some of her love, then gives him a handful of peanuts. Everyone laughs while Yamato plays his harmonica with Gabumon next to him.
Suddenly, the sky clouds over, and Vamdemon’s voice echoes, laughing. He says that with only seven people, they cannot defeat the evil powers.
