| The Chosen Children witness Daisuke's XV-mon and Ken's Stingmon jogress evolve into Paildramon. Archnemon orders her Ookuwamon to dispose of Paildramon, but as it charges Paildramon kicks it to the ground. Ookuwamon quickly gets up and charges again but Paildramon grabs it by it's pincers and throws it before grappling it with his's cable-claws and throwing it back down again. The others watch Paildramon fight Ookuwamon on even terms and remark about his strength. Patamon wishes they could evolve to Perfect like before. Iori objects to having fused with Ken's Digimon. Ookuwamon charges again to once again be kicked down by Paildramon.
Ookuwamon
Daisuke cheerfully declares that Paildramon is their partner Digimon but Ken is still uncertain. Ookuwamon attempts to stomp Paildramon only to miss and be uppercutted by Paildramon. Paildramon shouts to them to use the Crest of Kindness and Daisuke and Ken respond in unison as they leave. Archnemon sends Ookuwamon to attack the Chosen Children but Paildramon grapples Ookuwamon with his cable-claws to allow them to escape.
They enter the former Digimon Kaiser base through a hole in the wall. Daisuke and Ken reach the engine room first and Ken puts his Crest into a slot in the engine room causing the base to power down. The rest of the group arrives as Kōshirō confirms that the distortions have stopped via e-mail to Iori's D-Terminal. Their celebration is brought to a quick end as the base erupts with explosions. Outside, Paildramon is distracted by this giving Ookuwamon an opening to slam him into the ground. Kōshirō informs them that the distortions were back.
Ken was depressed saying that his Crest was worthless. Iori states that his Crest is what avoided the explosion. The others were surprised to see Iori depending Ken but Iori quickly says he was just stating the facts from Kōshirō. Archnemon appears on a monitor to mock them saying that the Crest was useless and that the dark power would has grown. Ken notices pipes across the floor and hastily follows them with the rest of the Chosen Children close behind. Outside, Ookuwamon catches Paildramon with his pincers and Paildramon strikes it in the side of it's face with Esgrima. Ookuwamon then burrows underground.
They follow the pipes into a tunnel but an explosion buts derbies in their way. Armadimon and Hawkmon clear it with their Rolling Stone and Feather Slash attacks. Outside, Ookuwamon emerged beneath Paildramon and drags him down into the sand. Archnemon declares that it's over. They arrive at the reactor which looks like a stone dragon head breathing out darkness. The Chosen Children experience a coldness. Patamon says it was the same darkness from the Dark Whirlpool. Hikari says it was the same darkness from the Dark Ocean. Ken then states that it must be an opening to the World of Darkness, and that the dark energy flows through the opening and controls the base. The explosions become for frequent and the group panics trying to find a way to stop the reactor. Outside, Paildramon unleashes his Desperado Blaster and blasts away Ookuwamon. As the reactor was about to explode Paildramon busts into the base and unleashes a second Desperado Blaster demolishing the reactor. Kōshirō sends another e-mail confirms that the distortions were fixed. Archnemon declares that she'll make them pay if they make her angry. Paildramon proceeds to lay waste to the entire base with Ken telling him not to leave a trace.
Later, Paildramon has devolved into Leafmon and Chicomon from exhausting his power. Daisuke was surprised to meet V-mon's Baby II forms. Chicomon asked if they made a good team and Daisuke gleefully said they were the best. Chicomon and Leafmon get along well but Ken still felt distanced and asked why their Digimon combined. Daisuke loudly insisted it was because they were partners. Ken rejects the idea saying he was not qualified to be Daisuke's partner and takes Leafmon and leaves saying he would need time to think. Hikari remarks that Daisuke was too straightforward.
Later, Miyako calls Kōshirō to tell him about the fusion evolution and he calls them to his place to explain the next day. That night Daisuke still felt that Ken was his partner with Chicomon agreeing cheerfully, but Daisuke was saddened that Ken didn't feel the same way. Ken was still confused believing he had only Leafmon. Leafmon said the fusion made him happy because it meant they were still needed. Ken pondered why it had happened in-spite of all the horrible things he had done.
The next day, Kōshirō explains that jogress comes from "Joint" meaning combining and progress meaning evolving. He then states that two Digimon have combined before, sparking Miyako's memories. Kōshirō also said the original cast of Chosen Children were called by Gennai to the Digital World believing that with Apocalymon's defeat the distortions of the Digital World were gone. But it wasn't. To fix the distortions they had to release the power of their Crests at the cost of losing the ability to evolve their Digimon to Perfect. Patamon and Tailmon said that the power of the Crests were in their hearts so it wasn't lost forever. Iori asked why they didn't mention it sooner. Hikari said it was because it was sad that they couldn't reach the Perfect level.
Kōshirō gets back onto the topic of jogress mentioning that when Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon combined into Omegamon to defeat an enemy they had ten times the power and that XV-mon and Stingmon had done essentially the same thing to defeat Ookuwamon. The younger Chosen Children abruptly decide to the Digital World to fight Archenemon but are interrupted by Kae who offers them refreshments. They decide to eat instead. Kae notes that "Tento-san" wasn't present getting odd reactions from the group, especially Kōshirō who chuckles embarrassed.
