Taichi and Agumon are searching the desert for any trace of the others, but have no luck. After a while, Taichi’s Digivice starts flashing and beeping. It acts as a compass, only going off when it’s pointed in the right direction. Taichi and Agumon follow it to a lake, and find Tokomon lying on the shore with a Digivice and Takeru’s Crest next to him. They run over and Taichi picks him up. Tokomon opens his eyes, and is delighted that Taichi and Agumon are still alive. Agumon asks if he was asleep because he was fighting, and Tokomon says he was just tired and hungry. Taichi asks where Takeru and the others are. Tokomon says that Takeru is with Pico Devimon, and he doesn’t know where the others are. Taichi asks for the whole story since after they left, and Tokomon tells him.
He says that after looking for a month and a half, the children started to lose hope, and all had different ideas on what to do. First Sora and Piyomon slipped off alone to look for Taichi in their own way. Everyone else split off from the main group as well, going with their partners. Yamato, Takeru, Gabumon, and Patamon were the only ones who stayed together. Takeru wanted to go and look for Taichi again, and Yamato snapped that they already looked everywhere. Takeru started to cry, and Yamato apologized and said that he’s sure Taichi and Agumon are doing well somewhere. After a while, they found an amusement park. Yamato and Gabumon took a swan paddle boat to look around the area, promising Takeru and Tokomon that they will be back within a few hours. A few days later, they still weren’t back. Takeru started to cry, and Piko Devimon flew up. He asked why Takeru was crying, and Takeru said that his brother isn’t back. Piko Devimon quickly volunteered to go look for him, and returned a little later. He said that he found Yamato, but Yamato said that he doesn’t want to see Takeru anymore, and hates him. This makes Takeru start crying again, and runs away, sobbing that he hates his brother too. Later, Takeru was throwing rocks into the lake, and Tokomon said that Yamato would never say those things. Tokomon went off to look for something, and found Piko Devimon. Tokomon angrily demanded that Piko Devimon stop lying to Takeru, and Piko Devimon said he wasn’t lying, and asked for Tokomon’s proof. He taunted Tokomon, and Tokomon ended up using his Awa attack to hit Piko Devimon. Takeru ran up at this moment, and asked what Tokomon was doing, attacking him for no reason. He told Tokomon to apologize, and he refused, saying if Takeru was going to make him apologize he'd leave. Takeru told him to go ahead, and threw his Digivice and Crest away before running back to the amusement park. After hearing the story, Taichi says that they should go see Takeru first, and asks Tokomon to take them to the amusement park. In the woods, a pair of Gazimon start to eat a cluster of mushrooms. Takeru and Piko Devimon are on the ferris wheel, but Takeru is preoccupied, worrying about Tokomon. Piko Devimon, trying to distract him, takes him along on several rides. Through all of them, Takeru is listless, and Piko Devimon goes away to find something to make him forget about Tokomon. Taichi, Agumon, and Tokomon run through the park looking for Takeru. They eventually find him, and he is very happy to see Taichi. Takeru sees Tokomon, and asks if he realized what he did wrong. Tokomon angrily retorts that he didn’t do anything wrong. They start to argue, and Taichi gently breaks them up, saying that they should go look for the others. Takeru says he doesn’t want to, because everyone left him, and hates him because he cries too much. Taichi says that that’s not true, no matter what Piko Devimon has been telling him. Takeru says that whenever he talks about Taichi, Yamato gets irritated, and he hates Takeru because he talks about Taichi too much. Takeru starts to sniffle, and says he wants to be Taichi’s younger brother instead. Piko Devimon flies over the forest and finds the Gazimon eating mushrooms. They are confused and don’t remember anything. Piko Devimon recognizes them as the mushrooms of forgetfulness, and says that after one bite you forget everything. He takes some to feed to Takeru. Back in the park, Taichi and Takeru have reached an agreement to at least go talk to Yamato. Piko Devimon flies up with a basket of mushrooms. Agumon and Taichi ask Piko Devimon to take them to where Yamato is, and Piko Devimon agrees, but says that it’s pretty far, and they should eat first. They are all hungry, and agree to eat. Taichi starts to cook the mushrooms, and Agumon goes to the bathroom before they’re done. As he’s walking back, a voice urgently tells him not to eat the mushrooms, because they will make him forget everything. In alarm, Agumon runs back towards Taichi and Takeru. He gets there as Takeru takes his first bite, and pulls the mushroom out of his mouth. Everyone else is confused, and Agumon tells Piko Devimon to eat a mushroom, but he refuses. Agumon tells Taichi that they will make their memories disappear. Piko Devimon starts to fly away, and Agumon grabs him, asking if everything else was a lie too. He nervously admits that it was, and Takeru sincerely apologizes to Tokomon. Taichi gives him back his Digivice and Crest, which starts to flicker with light. Piko Devimon tries to steal the Crest, and Tokomon evolves to Patamon to fight him. Piko Devimon is winning, until Takeru starts to cheer Patamon on. Patamon wins, and he and Takeru agree to be friends again. Taichi smiles, and asks how Agumon knew about the mushrooms. He says a voice told him, but he doesn’t know whose. In front of Piko Devimon, a silhouette appears, and he vigorously apologies, saying that the Crest of Hope has regained its light. As the sun is setting, Taichi tells Takeru and Patamon that distortions here are affecting the real world, so they need to fix this world before they go home. |
