Beel Starmon

Profile Name & Etymology Debut Design & Analysis Digimon Reference Book Video Games ⇨ Original A Digimon that splendidly manipulates twin pistols, and is also called the "Beelzebumon Lady" due to its appearance. Its cherished twin pistols, the "Rizoma de Loto", are like little sisters to the "Berenjena" possessed by Beelzebumon. It opens up to everybody without hesitation, and in particular, it is close friends with many gun-wielding Digimon, and has been given the nickname "Beelko" by Magna Kidmon and the like. However, it is at loggerheads with the solitary Beelzebumon, so although it recognizes its competence, it keeps a slight distance. It is dressed in a jet-black leather suit, and it wears a muffler that is able to transform according to use such as for offense and defense or wings. Its Special Move is homing in on the enemy's vitals with the "Fly Bullet" fired from the Rizoma de Loto. Furthermore, it can also stab and tear through enemies with the knives stocked on the Rizoma de Loto (Double Claw), and wildly fire the guns hidden in the heels of its boots with a keen Senpukyaku (Hurricane Screw Shot). Year Active 2013 Digimon Reference Book Entry Date July 15, 2016 Manga Digimon Liberator: "Shrinking Violet" Video Game Digimon Crusader V-Pet Digimon Pendulum Ver.20th Card Re-24 The design that would eventually become Beel Starmon originated as a personal illustration by Watanabe Kenji. After seeing fans express interest in a female counterpart to Beelzebumon, he created an original character he nicknamed Beelzebumon Lady, or simply Beelko. Although the design appeared on a shikishi included with the Digimon 15th Anniversary Box, the accompanying booklet described her as an original character created by Watanabe that did not exist within the Digimon series. Watanabe continued to redraw the character in dōjinshi and other personal works over the years. When original Digimon were later requested for the mobile games, Watanabe proposed officially using the existing Beelko design. Since the character now required an official name, he searched for one that matched her gunslinger motif and eventually came across the name "Belle Starr". Finding it a perfect fit, he adapted it into "Beel Starmon". According to Watanabe's original concept, Beelko admired the wandering Beelzebumon and sought to follow in his footsteps. As a result, her design intentionally incorporated numerous elements associated with Beelzebumon, including the Digital Hazard emblem and a Beelzebumon insignia on the back of her jacket. However, when her profile was later formalized for the Digimon Reference Book, this relationship was revised. Instead of admiring Beelzebumon, Beel Starmon was established as deliberately avoiding him, replacing Watanabe's original concept with a more antagonistic dynamic. Beel Starmon's design appears to be inspired by the "Goddess" who once protected Sandoria in the Sand Zone of Digimon Xros Wars.
