Debugger

From Wikimon

A Debugger (デバッガー Debaggā) is a member of the debugging team responsible for investigating and resolving problems within the virtual game Digimon Liberator. Most are recruited from ordinary players for their problem-solving abilities and assist the Game Masters in maintaining LACUNA.[1]

Overview[edit]

Debuggers investigate bugs and other abnormalities, including incidents involving malfunctioning NPCs. Their duties can also involve resolving disputes between players. These interventions are conducted discreetly, with the intention of allowing disputes to reach an apparently natural resolution without revealing the administration's involvement. The team's existence and activities are generally confidential, although rumours about its operations circulate among players.[1]

Members receive a Unique Emblem that grants privileges unavailable to ordinary players. When necessary, they can temporarily exercise Game Master authority, subject to restrictions established by the Debugger's Code. Abuse of these powers can result in removal from the team and possible account suspension.[1]

Privileges[edit]

A Debugger's Unique Emblem provides the following functions:[1]

  • Access to Garden: Members can immediately enter the confidential administrative area within LACUNA. Without an emblem, entry requires permission from a Game Master.
  • Battle intervention: Debuggers can enter battles already in progress to address unexpected Digimon behaviour or malfunctioning NPCs, allowing affected players to withdraw to safety.
  • Evolution outside battle: While ordinary players can normally only accompany their registered Partner Digimon in its Level III form, Debuggers can evolve their partners to higher levels in the overworld. This facilitates travel through difficult terrain and the pursuit of investigation targets.
  • Character backup: The emblem includes a save and backup function intended to protect members from the player-data corruption caused by defeat against certain malfunctioning NPCs. However, this function is experimental and is not guaranteed to work.

Facilities[edit]

The team has a dedicated facility named Avalon within Garden, reflecting the confidential nature of its work.[1] Avalon resembles an enormous D-Storage standing at the centre of Garden's seemingly endless white expanse. Debuggers receive assignments in Garden.[2]
