DMIA
DMIA, short for Digital Missing In Action, is a designation in Digimon Seekers for people whose consciousness becomes lost while operating in the Digital World.[1]
Overview[edit]
During Mindlink, a human's consciousness is transferred into their partner Digimon's Digicore. Exceeding the connection limit, known as the L-Line, risks leaving their mental data fused with the Digicore and unable to return to their physical body in the Real World. This can also damage the Digicore.
The person's body remains unconscious in the Real World and requires care to survive. To reduce this risk, Ryusenji Tomonori establishes the K-Line, a warning threshold indicating when Mindlink should be terminated safely.[2]

Digimon Seekers ~Witch of the Crossroads~[edit]
Because of Operation Tartarus, Ryusenji Saya's Partner Digimon, Agumon, and mental data were lost, leaving her in a vegetative state and making her the first human to be considered DMIA.[4]
Digimon Seekers ~Wall Slum's Nightmare~[edit]
Xu Yulin explained to Nagasumi Eiji and Leon Alexander that they had done some research after separating from the hackers and found out that a former female researcher at Abadin Electronics had gone DMIA and had been considered unable to return for years, but in reality, she had been in Wall Slum.
In her visions, the researcher remembered how she loved researching Digimon at Abadin Electronics and wanted to experience their world for herself, so she asked Professor Ryusenji Tomonori for Mindlink access. Through it, she met her Partner Digimon, Soundbirdmon, and had fun together, until they found themselves in Wall Slum, where hackers forced Digimon, such as a Vorvomon and a Jazardmon, to beat each other up in meaningless battles then abandoned them when they were no longer useful. In an alley, the researcher found even more abandoned and wounded Digimon, and realized they'd never stop. Overcome with grief, she fell to her knees and cried as she told the Professor she just wanted to befriend Digimon but was a stupid human like them. As she did so, she thought of the many Digimon she had played with. In the Real World, her body suffered from the effects, as the other researchers realized there was an error and tried to hold her down. As Yulin explained, prolonged exposure to the Mindlink caused her mental data to fuse with her Partner's Digicore, leaving her body comatose and, ultimately, dead. However, AE prioritized their experiment, leaving her DMIA, while, as a researcher, she was concerned for the situation in Wall Slum.[3]

Digimon Seekers[edit]
While the term DMIA is never used outside of the title of Chapter 3, Xu Yulin explained that Mindlink had a time limit as the consciousness of the user could be left behind on the Digital World, thus being left DMIA.[5]
