Ryusenji Tomonori is the main antagonist of Digimon Seekers.

Profile[edit]

Ryusenji is the seemingly kind owner and founder of Abadin Electronics who is also researching the Digital World. In actuality, he is a vile and deranged man who wishes to eradicate all life on a grand scale by awakening the Source Digimon, and has no qualms manipulating his disciples and their Digimon for his own ends. He has no remorse for his own crimes and only avoided bothering with Eiji and Leon further out of respect of their abilities.

It is unclear if Saya's DMIA and death drove Ryusenji into becoming completely diabolical.

Digimon Seekers ~Witch of the Crossroads~[edit]

Young Professor Ryusenji

In Episode 1, after Xu Yulin's Digimon were all deleted, she received a text message from Professor Ryusenji Tomonori, who asked her to come to his office.

Yulin then met with Professor Ryusenji at Abadin Electronics, formerly Ryusenji Electronic Industries, which he founded. He was worried at how pale she looked, but Yulin said she was just a little sleep deprived. The professor then showed her a video of a still-unconscious Ryusenji Saya. Yulin asked if that was all he called her for, but it wasn't, as Professor Ryusenji then asked her if she had found the wall, which shocked her. The professor then explained he hadn't been spying on her and praised her exceptional skills and and how hard she worked for Saya's sake, which meant she'd find the wall sooner or later. Yulin asked him what was at the wall, as none of the Digimon she sent to investigate were successful, but Professor Ryusenji asked her for another favour instead, to Mindlink with a Digimon and investigate once more. He explained that their research and development had advanced substancially, so the physical toll and mental risk for Mindlink had been lowered considerably since the experiment and the resolution of data received from the Partner Digimon had been increased as well. Yulin agreed to do it and to start immediately, as she knew this was for Saya's sake. Professor Ryusenji then gave her a black Digimon Pendulum X-like Digimon Dock with Ryudamon in it, a Digimon that had been optimized to Mindlink with Yulin. Its existance was a corporate secret but he was willing to make an exception to let her borrow it.

Digimon Seekers ~Wall Slum's Nightmare~[edit]

While Ryusenji was already disgraced in ~Wall Slum's Nightmare~, he is mentioned by the unnamed Abadin Electronics researcher in Episode 2, who asked him for Mindlink access and, after losing her mind from seeing humanity's cruel treatment of Digimon, she told the Professor she just wanted to befriend Digimon but was a stupid human like them.

Novel[edit]

Digimon Seekers[edit]

Some time after Digimon Seekers ~Witch of the Crossroads~, Ryusenji is still showing footage of Saya's body to Kosuke and Yulin to get their hopes up that they could find her consciousness back. He is also mentoring Leon Alexander.

Right after Nagasumi Eiji's parents died to a terrorist attack, Ryusenji recruited him, who voluntarily went to him to make money. He gives Eiji a presentation about the Digital World and gives him a Vital Bracelet BE-type Digivice with his partner, Loogamon. A couple days later, he asked Eiji to infiltrate the Sons of Chaos and approach its leader, Tartarus.

Following Leon Alexander's DMIA, Eiji phoned Ryusenji and asked him to call an ambulance to send Leon to the hospital. He asked himself if Leon ever met Yulin, and shown his diabolical side by whispering to an unconscious Leon telling him that "he had known too many lies".

Eventually, Yulin, Eiji and the Sons of Chaos braved themselves into the Source Domain, where they tried to decrypt it to find Saya's Black Agumon. It was at this moment however where the lights flickered and shut down and Ryusenji intervened, now fully exposing his diabolical plans in front of the trio. He instantly went to business by activating the restraining program on the three prototype Digimon, and tells them that the Prototype Digimon were still his and he only asked them to raised them for him, and he actually manipulated his disciples into invading the Digital World and helping him access the Source Domain. Eiji also discovered that the Digimon Linker was implanted with spyware that fed data to Ryusenji, and Loogamon recalled that he was snagged directly from the Wall Slum by DDL to use as test subjects, and so are the other two Prototype Digimon. With all three Digimon incapacitated and helpless, Ryusenji used them to crack the Source Domain's Code to demonstrate its power. While doing so, Eiji interjects him and asks him about Saya and Leon.

Ryusenji initially evades the questions, but decides to entertain Eiji by revealing something that he never told Yulin or Kosuke about; that he is simply uninterested in restoring Saya's Black Agumon, implying that her physical body is actually dead. Eiji and Kosuke thought that he was lying, but Ryusenji proves his words by revealing Saya's Black Agumon and Leon's Pulsemon from within the Source Domain, and muttering that "even if the mindlinker as perished, the partner Digimon remains", causing Yulin to break in shock. Ryusenji then breaks Kosuke completely by telling him the truth that he was only feeding him lies by showing him and Yulin recorded footage of Saya's comatose body, and she is actually dead in real life as he easily decrypts the Data Sector from DORUmon, rendering him unconscious. When Kosuke denies it, he dares him to inject the serum onto the Black Agumon to prove if he was lying that his daughter was actually dead. Ryusenji then proceeds to decrypt the Vaccine Sector from Ryudamon, which he was able to do so with ease because of the injuries it sustained from the fight prior. He then announces his plan to awaken the Source Digimon, the model and original Digimon, and mindlink with it to eradicate all of existence and rule over its remains as a god.

Live Action[edit]

Digimon Seekers[edit]

In "Chapter 1 Eiji:Wolf of ninth avenue", at Abadin Electronics, Nagasumi Eiji greeted Professor Ryusenji. As his Digimon Dock showed a hologram of Modoki Betamon, Ryusenji explained that the core research that'd determine the future of their company was being conducted there, with holograms of the three Attributes (Vaccine, Data and Virus) being projected outside of the entrance of Abadin Electronics. Ryusenji then gave Eiji a Digimon Linker, which Eiji put on his wrist while asking what it was.

In "Chapter 3 Unit 11:Digital Missing In Action", Kisakata Kosuke explained that they made a deal with Professor Ryusenji and they were rebooting Operation Tartarus.

In "Chapter 4 Sons of Chaos: Seekers", Ryusenji said he appreciated their love for his daughter, with the unconscious Agumon (Black) floating behind him.
