| Amaterasumon was designed alongside Shishimamon to act as an evolutionary line for Siesamon, who has power related to the energy of the sun.[1] This relates these Digimon to Amaterasumon’s namesake, as Amaterasu Ōmikami is a goddess of the sun.
Of the Tentei Hachibushu, Amaterasumon bears the most resemblance to the legendary Susanoomon. In Japanese mythology, their namesakes are siblings, leading to these Digimon sharing design elements, such as the flame-like shoulder armor or their long tassels flowing out from their backs. Amaterasumon also features the symbol of Kunlun on at least one arm gauntlet and the Zero Unit on at least one arm (only the left arm is clearly visible in its profile art and depicts both symbols).

Amaterasumon debuted on the Digimon Pendulum COLOR Toho Braves as the promotional mascot and as an inhabitant of the Ashino Island in the Digital World: Shambala.
