As'maria (As'まりあ, あず まりあ), altenatively written as az maria and abbreviated as AZMA[1], is a Japanese illustrator, designer and manga artist.
History[edit]
One of the main sources of inspiration for his involvement in the Digimon franchise was Digimon Adventure: Our War Game[2].
Since then, he has provided illustrations for the Digital Monster Card Game, making their debut in Ultimate Battle Set which was released in December 2000, the same year that he participated in the first Digimon Illustration Contest whereby he received the Silver Medal for his submission of War Greymon and Bronze Medals for ones of Diablomon and Mugendramon. These were used in the aforementioned set on cards St-241, St-278 and St-279 respectively[3].
After being contacted by WiZ, he was initially tasked with designing Metal Garurumon (X-Antibody) and was later responsible for designing more than twenty X-Antibody Digimon that were featured in the Digimon Chronicle story arc accompanying the Pendulum X series[4]. These are characterized by the inclusion of heavy armor and "green light-emitting objects", nicknamed "As'ma Green" by Watanabe Kenji[2].
In 2013, he was involved in the production of Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, designing the back views of X-Antibody Digimon that appeared in the game in addition to Rust Tyranomon alongside Watanabe. Artwork of Gaioumon illustrated and signed by As'maria was included with the Digital Monster Card Game Digimon 15th Anniversary Box which also simultaneously commemorated the tenth anniversary of the X-Antibody/X Digimon.
