Edits[edit]

English[edit]

  • As with most episodes in the first half of the series, all references to Odaiba locations are edited in the Saban dub, such as referring to the Telecom Building as a “toy factory”.
  • A signpost has its Japanese text removed.
  • The nameplate on Taichi’s apartment is changed to “Kamiya”.
  • ”1999” is removed from the calendar.
  • Hikari's name is simplified to "Kari" in the Saban dub. While the Animax dub keeps her name intact, it is mispronounced as "Hickory".
  • Because Saban had not dubbed the pilot movie yet, several details are not properly explained. It is claimed in the Saban dub that Hikari has been to the Digital World before, and that's how she knows who Koromon is.
  • The Saban dub censors Koromon's bathroom emergency.
  • Koushiro's conversation with Taichi is heavily rewritten in the Saban dub. When we see Koushiro's side of the conversation a few episodes later, this scene is properly translated, creating a major plot hole here. In addition, a rather innocuous shot of Taichi screaming at the computer is removed.
  • The Saban dub refers to the iconic Odaiba Big Wheel as a "satellite dish", even though it clearly is not.
  • The TV show that gets interrupted by the news report is removed due to the presence of Japanese text.
  • The news report in the Japanese version simply mentions that an earthquake has been felt in the area. In the Saban dub, the newscaster reports that people have been seeing monsters and advises them to take their medicine, even though a major point of the original version is that only Taichi and Hikari can see them. In fact, the dub leaves in this explanation later on in the same episode, creating another huge plot hole.
  • The Saban dub adds in Hikari whining that she wants to go to the Digital World with Taichi.
  • Taichi and Hikari's parting scene has more dialogue in the dub than in the Japanese version.
