Digimon Adventure[edit]
After Etemon was seemingly defeated by Metal Greymon, he returned for revenge later in the series after having evolved into Metal Etemon. He appeared intending to attack Jou and Mimi, but ended up fighting Pinocchimon instead, allowing the children to escape. After Pinocchimon becomes bored of their fight, Metal Etemon resumes his search for the Chosen Children. When he finds them, Leomon evolves to Saber Leomon to fight him along with Jou's Zudomon. Zudomon used Hammer Boomerang to shatter part of Metal Etemon's body so that Saber Leomon could use Nail Crusher to defeat Metal Etemon. They succeed, but not before Saber Leomon had taken a fatal blow protecting Mimi, leading to his own deletion.

While Metal Etemon does not appear in the game naturally, it was offered as a special raffle prize event in Japan only[41], it's also possible to obtain it via Game Shark and cheat codes, as it appears as a Perfect-level Vaccine type Digimon in Digimon World.
Metal Etemon cannot be obtained in any natural way in the game aside from the prized Memory Card, but inner data found that it's also obtainable via its personal Evolution Item, the Metal Banana, which can be acquired via cheat codes, which is given to any Adult level Digimon, it will automatically evolve into Metal Etemon. Other Digimon are obtained in a similar way, those being Panjyamon and Gigadramon.

Metal Etemon is the third opponent of Deserted Island's Battle Arena. He gets angry at how the player looks at him and threatens to punish him for it if he doesn't apologize immediately. He uses the Steel Smile Heaven Gate deck, a Yellow/Rare deck with 3 attack, defense, and evolution speed that's well-balanced. Upon being defeated, he reiterates how angry the player makes him, and exclaims that they will have a rematch.
Metal Etemon is also an obtainable Perfect-level Yellow/Rare card whose stats are:
- HP: 1650
- DP: 50
- +P: 10
- Circle attack: 300
- Triangle attack: 750
- X attack: 0, Circle counter
- Support Ability: Circle counterattack. Attack second.
Metal Etemon's attacks are Banana Slip, Heavy Monkick and Dark Recital.

As in the anime, Etemon returns as Metal Etemon in Episode 54, "Metal Etemon's Counterattack".
Metal Etemon the 63rd obligatory boss of the game, fighting Gomamon, Saber Leomon and Orgemon at the end of Episode 54, "Metal Etemon's Counterattack". As in the anime, Gomamon will evolve into Zudomon for free and keep the form for the entire battle, and Saber Leomon will start heavily wounded. He can deal damage and shock to one Digimon with Dark Spirits Deluxe, deal damage to one enemy with No. 1 Punch, and deal damage to one Digimon and reset status changes with Banana Slip. He can attack twice thanks to his Continuous Action support ability.
Metal Etemon is an optional boss fight in Episode 62, "The Final Dark Digimon", obtained if the player got at least 35 points of bond rankings for Tachikawa Mimi. Palmon will evolve for the first time into Rosemon for no SP cost and remain in the form for the battle. Apart from his previous moveset, he now heals 1000 HP per turn thanks to his Auto Heal Ω support ability. After being defeated, he drops a Cure-All Ω DigiPiece, which allows the user to perform the namesake technique to cure Poison, Sticky, and Skill Seal from all allies.
Metal Etemon and Pinochimon serve as the first mid-bosses of the optional Digital Dungeon: η, where they fight the Chosen Children together. Defeating them grants the player two Life Saver Kits.
