Motomiya Daisuke is the lead protagonist of Digimon Adventure 02.

Profile[edit]

Daisuke is the "goggleboy" of the new Chosen Children, even receiving the old goggles of Yagami Taichi. Although he often rushes into things and makes mistakes, his courage in the face of outstanding odds cannot be denied. No matter how dire the situation, he always believes that they can somehow make it through. He has strong belief in other people and will always come through for his friends.

Daisuke lives with his father, mother and older sister, Jun. Though his parents are a tad oblivious and he tends to squabble with Jun a lot, they are a very normal family. Daisuke is a great soccer player and a member of Odaiba Elementary's soccer club.

Digimon Adventure[edit]

On August 3rd, 1999, Daisuke and his family were among those captured by Vamdemon's minions and held hostage at Tokyo Big Sight, as they searched for the eighth Chosen Child. It was then that he was chosen to become a Chosen Child in the future.

Between Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

As a student in Odaiba Elementary, Daisuke became the classmate of Yagami Hikari, who he ended up developing a crush on. He also met Taichi, Hikari's older brother, who was a regular in Odaiba Elementary's soccer club. Taichi became Daisuke's idol, and he looked up to the older boy, even finding a pair of goggles at home and wearing them on his forehead at all times, just like Taichi.

Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

As he entered the fifth grade, Daisuke was delighted to learn that Hikari was still his classmate. However, a new student arrived in his class, Takaishi Takeru, and it turned out that he was an old friend of Hikari's. Seeing how friendly they were with each other, Daisuke became jealous, seeing Takeru as a rival to Hikari's affections. He soon received a D-3 and was brought to the Digital World to fight the Digimon Kaiser. There, he lifted the Digimental of Courage, freeing V-mon, who was excited to see Daisuke and became his trusted partner. From then on, he fought the Digimon Kaiser with Takeru, Hikari and his fellow new Chosen Children, Inoue Miyako and Hida Iori.

Some time later, Odaiba Elementary's soccer team played a game against Tamachi FC, a team led by the famous prodigy Ichijouji Ken. The game started without Ken, and Daisuke's team managed to score a goal against Tamachi FC. However, Ken came into the game after the halfpoint and scored goal after goal, smashing Daisuke's team to the ground. Daisuke prevented him from scoring a tenth goal by tackling him, injuring his ankle in the process. In retaliation, Ken (as the Digimon Kaiser) had Daisuke degrade himself, threatening to feed the Chosen Children to Deltamon. However, the real Chosen Children appeared, revealing the deception. Daisuke tackled him in a scuffle, and during the fight, Daisuke recognized the injury on the Kaiser's leg, prompting Ken to reveal himself as the Digimon Kaiser.

When Ken used an Evil Spiral to control Taichi's Agumon and evolved him into Metal Greymon, Daisuke didn't want to attack him for fear of hurting him. Yamato showed him that one has to do what is best for a person, and Daisuke's desire to help his friends gained him the Digimental of Friendship, which allowed V-mon to evolve to Lighdramon.

During the final battle with Chimeramon, Daisuke attempted to locate the Kaiser's base's engine room and was led there by Wormmon, who was equally determined to save Ken from himself. Daisuke discovered that the base's power source was the Digimental of Miracles, which he used to evolve V-mon to Magnamon. When Daisuke unlocked the Digimental, V-mon noticed that a crest is inside of it, which was later revealed to be Ken's Crest of Kindness. Although Magnamon was powerful, his true power was not revealed until Wormmon gave him the energy to defeat Chimeramon using his Extreme Jihad attack. Daisuke and the others finally made Ken realize that Digimon were real, living things, not just computer data.

Daisuke was the first of the new Chosen Children to have his partner evolve naturally to XV-mon. He was also the first to offer his hand in friendship to Ken. Through hard work, he was able to convince the others to forgive Ken, some earlier than others. When Ken went head on into a hopeless battle against Okuwamon, Daisuke showed up and tried to convince him that he can't go fighting all on his own. Daisuke's words to Ken enabled XV-mon to Jogress with Stingmon and form Paildramon. From this day on, Ken was slowly integrated into the team, and became Daisuke's close friend.

On Christmas Eve, Daisuke, and the younger Chosen Children came to Ken's Christmas party, which ended abruptly as they had to send rampaging Digimon back to the Digital World and destroy a Dark Tower. On Christmas Day, the Chosen Children found out that Digital Gates were open in the entire world. Qinglongmon gave the Chosen Children one of his Digicores to help power up the Digimon, enabling Paildramon to evolve into Imperialdramon. Traveling with Imperialdramon, Daisuke went to New York City to help Mimi, Michael, and the rest of the American Chosen Children to round up the wild Digimon that had come through the gates.

Back in Japan, the children had to fend off the Demon Corps, a group of evil Digimon led by Demon. When Skull Satamon was threatening to destroy a bus full of children, the others' Perfect Digimon gave Imperialdramon the power they got from Qinglongmon, and the mode changed into Imperialdramon Fighter Mode. With this power, Imperialdramon destroyed Skull Satamon. Following this, Archnemon and Mummymon showed up with a truck full of kids they had rounded up, and coaxed Ken to come with them. Ken agreed, but Daisuke chased after their truck, first by car with Kido Shuu, and then on the back of Lighdramon. He finally reached Ken when the truck was stopped in Hikarigaoka by Demon, who demanded to have Ken. Daisuke and the other children helped Ken open a gate to the World of Darkness and banished Demon through the gate. However, Archnemon, Mummymon and their boss, Oikawa, managed to run away. In his wake, Oikawa left twenty children, who had Dark Seeds sown into their necks.

Daisuke and the others followed the seeded children for the following days, facing Oikawa several times. On December 31st, they followed Oikawa and the children to the world of dreams, where it was revealed that Oikawa Yukio was possessed by the spirit of Belial Vamdemon, who absorbed the power of the Dark Seeds to gain a corporeal form. He killed Archnemon and Mummymon, which shocked and frightened the other Chosen Children, but only Daisuke wasn't frightened enough and he and XV-mon started fighting back. Belial Vamdemon subjected the children to an illusion, showing their greatest desire. But Daisuke was the only one not affected; he was happy with what he had, and his only desire was to defeat Belial Vamdemon. Instead, he and his Digimon, split up into V-mon, Fladramon, Lighdramon and XV-mon by the power of the world of dreams, went to each of the Chosen and helped bring them back to reality. When everyone's illusions were broken, Daisuke encouraged the others to try what he had done with his own Digimon, and with Ken's help Paildramon, Imperialdramon and Imperialdramon Fighter Mode appeared all at once to fight Belial Vamdemon. After Belial Vamdemon escaped to the Digital World, the light from his D-3 helped weaken Belial Vamdemon. When Belial Vamdemon clung onto life using the despair of the Dark Seed children, the Chosen Children encouraged them by having them share their dreams, and Daisuke shared his dream of owning a ramen cart. The light of his Digivice was used again to power up Imperialdramon Fighter Mode's Giga Death cannon.

Digimon Adventure 02: Digimon Hurricane Touchdown!! Supreme Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals[edit]

In this adventure, Daisuke went to the United States with the other Chosen Children to help Hikari and Takeru. On the way, they met Wallace, a Chosen Child from Colorado, whose rogue Digimon partner Chocomon was the cause of the problems. During the battle with Cherubimon, Daisuke used the Digimental of Miracles, temporarily recreated by Seraphimon and Holydramon, so Magnamon could help Rapidmon defeat Cherubimon and end his pain.

Digimon Adventure 02: Diablomon Strikes Back[edit]

Three years after the events of Our War Game, the evil Diablomon resumed his reign of terror on the Internet. Daisuke was on his way to soccer practice when Koushiro contacted him to fill him in on the situation. While Taichi, Yamato and their Digimon entered cyberspace to battle Diablomon once more, Daisuke and Ken had to track down the Kuramon. But when Daisuke learned that Hikari, Takeru and their Digimon had gone to help their big brothers and Omegamon, he demanded that he should go as well. However, his urge to get in was all part of Diablomon's revenge plan – as the entire Kuramon swarm emerged from the gate before heading to the Rainbow Bridge at Tokyo Harbor to merge into Armagemon. After Imperialdramon managed to destroy the monster by changing to Imperialdramon Paladin Mode with help of Omegamon, the Chosen Children used their Digivices, along with the spectators' cellphones, to capture the Kuramon.

25 Years Later[edit]

By the year 2028, Daisuke achieved his dream to open his own noodle cart which became a huge success, developing into a successful restaurant chain. His entrepreneurship earned him a place on magazine covers around the globe. He is married and has one son, who has inherited Taichi's goggles and has a Chibimon as a partner.

Digimon Adventure tri.[edit]

Daisuke, along with Ken, Miyako, and Iori, was attacked and defeated by Alphamon in Reunion.

The four, along with the real Gennai, are found by Yagami Taichi and Nishijima Daigo in Our Future, while being kept in a comatose state inside capsules at the Mysterious Man's base located in the Digital World. According to Daigo, Daisuke's group was attacked after discovering Yggdrasill's plan, with Himekawa Maki ordering him to hide the events.

In his last sacrifice, Daigo sends Taichi and Daisuke's group back to the Real World before the base explodes. Once back in the Real World, the four are hospitalized and revitalized.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna[edit]

In 2010, Daisuke was 19 years old, a first year student at a vocational school studying to get his cook license. He was working hard to achieve his dream of becoming a ramen chef, and to achieve this he decided to try eating different ramen from around the world.

Daisuke was eating ramen in New York City with Ken and Iori when Yamato contacted them, asking them to go to Liberica University to look up information about one of its professors, Menoa Bellucci. The next day, the three of them were joined by Miyako and acted on Iori's suggestion to break into Menoa's office and hack into her computer, though they only found information bringing Imura Kyotaro's identity into question. Later, when Eosmon were released worldwide, Daisuke and the other three worked to defeat them and protect the populace. Later, he watched as the remaining Eosmon dissolved into thin air.

Digimon Adventure 02: Armor Evolution to the Unknown[edit]

In an attempt to get some Valentine's Day chocolate from the girls, Daisuke tried to change his image to one the girls adored. He first tried to impersonate Yamato, but he wasn't good at playing bass. He then posed as Koushiro, but his way of "fixing" computers annoyed Koushiro. Daisuke eventually decided to use Ken's Digimon Kaiser persona, as girls seem to like the "bad boy" look. Problem was, as the girls' Digimon had it, Daisuke was all talk, so V-mon yelled at him to take extreme measures to be super-bad. It took Ken's convincing and the power of Pucchiemon to stop Daisuke from reluctantly beating up V-mon to get into character. When Pukumon entered the scene with a Dark Tower, Jou got knocked into the 02 gang and Daisuke ended up with Takeru's D-Terminal, allowing V-mon to Armor Evolve to Sagittarimon. Despite learning an important lesson from the ordeal, he still envied the fact he has no girls going ga-ga over him.

Digimon Adventure 02: The Door to Summer[edit]

The second 02 drama takes place in the summer of 2003, following Hurricane Touchdown/The Golden Digimentals. Daisuke, who was having a particularly bad summer, and V-mon, who was quite insensitive to the whole thing, went to America to visit Mimi and Wallace. They ended up in a strange dimension, which resembled New York City in winter time. In the cold weather, they encountered a strange girl, who took immediate affections to Daisuke. During introductions, she said that she was nameless, so Daisuke gave her the name "Nat-chan", naming her after summer (natsu in Japanese).

When Nat-chan turned out to be a Digimon, she was forced by the "fireflies" to transform into a large, roaring creature. The others tried to stop Daisuke from going to her, but Daisuke said that she was just lonely and wanted a partner. Nat-chan destroyed herself to protect him, and Daisuke was a bit saddened, but Chibimon gave a healthy reminder that he's Daisuke's partner as they found her Digitama.

Wallace and Mimi indicated that the winter was the result of Nat-chan's solitude mixing with Daisuke's regrets, such examples being his loss at the district soccer competition and his unrequited love for Hikari. In a way, Nat-chan was taking Hikari's place as the object of Daisuke's affection, though she knew it wasn't meant to be.

Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01[edit]

In V-Tamer Double Tamer, during one of his battles, Daisuke and the other 02 Chosen Children encountered Parallelmon, who absorbed Yagami Hikari, Takaishi Takeru, Inoue Miyako and Hida Iori as it sent Daisuke into the V-Tamer continuity where he met the Yagami Taichi of that series. After Daisuke made his peace with Taichi, who he originally saw as an imposter of the Taichi he knew, the two worked together to save the others and defeat Parallelmon through a strategy where V-mon armor-evolved into Fladramon to block Parallelmon, then finished it by armor-evolving into Magnamon thanks to the Chosen Children trapped within Parallelmon recreating the Digimental of Miracles. With the monster destroyed, Daisuke and his friends returned to their continuity.

Digimon World: Digital Card Arena[edit]

Daisuke appears in Flame City's Battle Café. He warns the player that weird things are happening in Battle Arenas, though he can't give more details as it is only a bad feeling he has, but nonetheless advices the player to be cautious if he's going to challenge the Battle Arena. After beating the Battle Arena, he gives the player the first Digimental of their Partner Card.

In the postgame, Daisuke congratulates the player on defeating the Digimon Kaiser, and thinks it's great that he changed his ways. Afterwards, he can be fought. He uses the Burning Courage deck, a Red/Flame deck that's strong on offense. Beating him for the first time will award the player a Red Pack, and subsequent defeats other than the ninth one may award it too. Beating him nine times will award the player Digi-Part 061: Attack power becomes same as HP. Furthermore, during the third, sixth and ninth battles, Daisuke will give the player his own deck to use, so the player may register V-mon's three Armor Evolutions (Fladramon, Lighdramon and Magnamon) if the player has not chosen V-mon as his Partner Card. If he has, he won't offer the decks.
