Personality[edit]

Bearmon is a member of the Beast Digimon community on the Wandering Island, and is the younger brother of Gryzmon, a commander in the Beast Digimon army. He is timid, but kind.[1] He strongly dislikes fighting and is saddened by the conflict between the Human and Beast Digimon, and hopes to find a way to end it. While he has faith that it is possible for higher powers to intercede on their behalf and end the conflict, it is only up to a point, as in their darkest moment he concedes that it is impossible, although he is ultimately proven incorrect.[2]

Despite the conflict between their two peoples, he is very close friends with Kotemon of the Human Digimon, and the two lead a group of Baby I Digimon friends from both sides. They keep their friendship a secret from their respective brothers, Gryzmon and Dinohumon, as they know that they will be in trouble if they are caught.[2]

Digimon Frontier: Revival of the Ancient Digimon!![edit]

When the Chosen Children are stranded on the Wandering Island, Bearmon and his Baby I Digimon friends find Minamoto Kouji and Orimoto Izumi. He brings them to his house in the Beast Digimon village and offers them food, while his friends look for the other Chosen Children. With a tinge of sadness in his voice, he prepares to answer Kouji's question about that they witnessed before they were stranded, the group witnesses a raid on the village by Dinohumon and his Human Digimon, and Gryzmon instructs him to take cover in the house.

Subsequently, once he and Kotemon have sent word to each other about the Chosen Children, Bearmon leads Kouji and Izumi to a neutral meeting ground, where Kotemon has brought Kanbara Takuya, Shibayama Junpei, Himi Tomoki, Bokomon and Neamon. When the two groups of Chosen Children begin bickering over what they have witnessed each side do to the other, Bearmon, Kotemon and the Baby Digimon start crying and beg them to stop fighting. They tell the group about their friendship and ask them not to tell their brothers, then invite them to see a "secret" of theirs.

Bearmon and Kotemon lead the Chosen Children to the interior of the Wandering Island ruins and show them the broken mural of Ornismon. When Bokomon examines it and notices the incomplete inscription, Takuya and Junpei speculate that completing the mural could provide the key to ending the violence on the island. The thought excites Bearmon, Kotemon and the Baby Digimon, and they insist that they all try.

However, as they leave, they are interrupted by Dinohumon and their subordinates. One of Dinohumon's subordinates, a Yaksamon, picks Bearmon up by the neck and expresses his contempt for the idea that Kotemon considers him a friend, and throws him to the ground, where Izumi attempts to protect him. Gryzmon and his subordinates arrive and start fighting Dinohumon's forces, despite Bearmon and Kotemon begging them to stop. When Takuya (as Agnimon) and Kouji (as Garummon) force Dinohumon and Gryzmon to stop, Gryzmon takes Bearmon home and forbids him from ever seeing Kotemon again. The two are absolutely distraught and cry out for each other as they leave, but resign themselves to it.

That night, as the Beast Digimon forces prepare for the final battle against the Beast Digimon, Bearmon mopes with Izumi while Gryzmon attempts to recruit Kouji for the battle. Junpei sneaks in, and Kouji distracts Gryzmon by agreeing to his request so that Junpei can lead Bearmon and Izumi back to the mural, where Kotemon, Tomoki, Bokomon and Neemon are at work reassembling it in the hope of finding a way to end the war. Bearmon is excited at the prospect, and joins in the effort. They initially succeed at completing the inscription, but the mural shatters again due to a tank blast outside before Bokomon can translate. Despite this setback, Bearmon supports Kotemon's insistence on trying again.

When the group re-completes the inscription and hears Bokomon's translation, Bearmon, like the others, is shocked at its true meaning: a prophecy for how Ornismon, actually evil, can be resurrected. Bearmon and Kotemon point out that the mural is still not complete, and that perhaps there will be hope if they can finish the Ancient Greymon and Ancient Garurumon portions; when Junpei points out the missing shape of the Wings of the Sea Bird, Bearmon identifies it as matching the shape of Hippogriffomon's pendant, while Kotemon does likewise for Darcmon's staff. While Izumi and Junpei run off to warn the others of their discovery, Bearmon, Tomoki and Kotemon continue work on the Ancient Greymon and Ancient Garurumon portion of the ruins.

When Ornismon is revived, the ceiling of the ruins is torn off by the cage that is created, exposing the ruins and Kotemon. Once the group sees Ornismon and Murmukusmon, Bearmon gives up all hope that it is possible for Ancient Greymon and Ancient Garurumon to help them, even though Kotemon remains steadfast in his faith and the mural's depictions of the two Digimon start glowing in response. He witnesses Ornismon, on Murmukusmon's command, kill Kotemon, and is absolutely devastated, crying out for Kotemon.

In response to Bearmon's cry, Kotemon's Digitama reacts and Ancient Greymon and Ancient Garurumon manifest, fulfilling Kotemon's hopes. At first, Bearmon is not aware as he is consumed with grief for Kotemon, but the Baby Digimon bring him to see the two Digimon, which inspires him as he cries out that they have been revived. He witnesses the defeat of Ornismon and Murmukusmon by Ancient Greymon, Ancient Garurumon, and the Chosen Children.

After the battle, Bearmon gathers with Gryzmon, Dinohumon and the Baby Digimon to see the Chosen Children off. Takuya and Kouji credit Bearmon, Kotemon, the Baby Digimon, and their friendship with each other for making their victory over Ornismon, and the cessation of conflict between the Human and Beast Digimon, possible.

Some time later, Bearmon is tending to a new mural that commemorates the end of the war, in which he is depicted alongside the Chosen Children, Dinohumon, Gryzmon and the Baby Digimon. The reborn Kotemon approaches him, and the two excitedly embrace.
