When Mercuremon scanned Seraphimon's data and used it to evolve himself (a move he called Fallen Angel's Decent) he became Black Seraphimon. He battled and over powered Takuya as both Agnimon and Vritramon while inside Sefirotmon. But Seraphimon's DigiTama released some power that allowed Takuya to double spirit evolve into Ardhamon who beat Black Seraphimon and returned his data to Seraphimon's DigiTama.

There is an unobtainable boss character named "Black Seraphimon", however, it varies slightly from the Black Seraphimon described above. In appearance it is merely a Seraphimon recolor, similar to Black War Greymon, with none of the small changes in armor as shown above (bat wings, rotated cross on face, etc.). He can be found at Jungle Shrine of the Amaterasu Server.
