Talk:Digimoji

From Wikimon

Holy Ring's always say "Digital Monster", don't they? If so, we might just have a section for items that bear Digi-Code, and then just have the Digimon with Holy Rings be in that list - get rid of a lot of the redundancy.KrytenKoro06 23:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

We probably also want a section for English Digi-code, since it is canon to the Japanese materials (Imperialdramon's blade)KrytenKoro06 23:29, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
At one point I had translations of all the Digi-code in the manga's, but my computer erased itself, and I hadn't backed up recently enough. I'll try to go through again and get it all, but most of it is simple stuff like Subway directions, or the name of the location.KrytenKoro06
Anubismon, Bakumon, Hououmon, Kudamon, Salamon also have Holy Rings.KrytenKoro06 21:42, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure there was also a set of Digicode made for the roman alphabet also. I had the chart at some point but I have to find it again, should this be added also? -devkyu 19:31, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

It's used on Imperialdramon's sword, so it is canon in Japan as well. Not sure if I've ever seen it anywhere else, though.KrytenKoro06 19:38, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Relating to the "Digicode" characters themseleves, do you think they should have a transparent background as opposed to their current white backgrounds, as well as being re-orientated?--Ainz 22:47, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Wouldn't that make them impossible to see?KrytenKoro06 10:00, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Oops, I meant having two sets of colors for the characters (white and black) having transparent backgrounds.--Ainz 18:31, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
If there's a template for the white Digicode, can we use it for the "appearances in anime" sections?KrytenKoro06 06:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Added them, I'll upload some more characters later on. --Ainz 11:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Digimon Savers opening[edit]

In the opening for Digimon Savers, during the scene where it displays the evolutions of the three main digimon, the english digi-code along the top of the screen displays this:

So it uses the dub names names in the original Digicode? Akward.--Daisuke Motomiya 23:36, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

No, the Digicode above is the English version of Digicode (there are two, the English one and the Japanese one). What I don't get is why they used the English one. - Digi9346 14:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Kudamon[edit]

Kudamon's Holy Cartridge says "Digital Monster" like it was a Holy Ring.KrytenKoro06 19:49, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

At the beginning of the 13th episode (at least in the Japanese version), a phrase or something is shown in DigiCode, but I can't make out what it means:

"Translated", it's: fungurui muguruunafu kutsuuruu ruruie ugafunaguru futagun (you find a similar phrase when you just google the first word)

Later, when Hikari is alone, she walks past a sign that says: insumausu

--ZeForte 11:22, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Just wondering, do you have a screenshot of it?--Ainz 11:51, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

By the way, that translates to "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" - an occult phrase from H. P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu with means something along the lines of "In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming" --Ainz 16:48, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Insumausu = Innsmouth - A fictional town in Cthulhu Mythos. --Ainz 16:50, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Also, episode 36: 中華スープのDci.pngズDcmi.png

中華スープの泉
聖なる中華な泉のスープを無断で

(Chūka Sūpu no Izumi

"The Chinese Soup Spring
It is forbidden to drink the sacred Chinese Spring's soup and those who do so without permission will be punished")

Episode 49:

Possibly the only instance where Nefertimon's Rosetta Stone is seen big enough to make out what's written there, but it's still not very clear.

--ZeForte 14:40, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

We've discussed it here as well. --Ainz 15:26, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Digimon Savers: Another Mission[edit]

Okay Ainz, I'm at Belphemon, I just have to hook up my TV to a higher definition TV to read the code key clearly.

However, the seal Demon stands over afterwards is all in English Digicode, with N, S, E, and W at the cardinal points, "Darkness" clockwise along the outer circle, "Seal" to the left, right, top, and bottom of the central circle, and a Digital Hazard symbol in the middle. Like so:

      SS N DA
    NE RK
  RK LAES NE
DA SS
  S L
  E A
W [Digital Hazard] E
  A E
  L S
SS AD
  EN SEAL KR
    KR EN
      AD S SS

You may have to open the editor to see it displayed correctly.KrytenKoro06 10:21, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I looked at the Code Key on my good TV, and I'm sorry Ainz, but the most I can decipher is that their might be an "E". Granted, my good TV is not hi-def, but I highly doubt that the game itself has any higher resolution than my TV. I think our only bet is to contact the localizers and see if they have access to the actual art used for that. I'll look up the e-mails on Bandai's site, and see who I can contact.KrytenKoro06 04:18, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, the Digital Alphabet which displays during digivolution is just gibberish: Here's an example of it:

dfslkfghh lkjghfljhlk awieovn

The Lullaby attack makes DigiKata appear, as well: Sa, ya, su, gi, ra, ri, go, ku, and mu.KrytenKoro06 04:44, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm going to try and attempt to make a diagram of the seal, but the only thing which is irritating me is the Digital Hazard symbol. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 06:22, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Here's a small preview (in progress):

Seal temp.png

And here's the finished thing:

Seal DSAM2.png

I got to Lilithmon, and her's is actually pretty clear. The top bar of DigiCode is just "Lilithmon", and I would assume that goes for the others as well (their names). The text on the card is completely indecipherable, though.KrytenKoro06 12:43, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Lucemon Falldown Mode[edit]

The symbols on the Dead or Alive are clearly DigiCode, but don't match any symbols we know. However, Lucemon's bio states that the sphere is a "three-dimensional Magic Square", which would indicate numbers. Given the Hebrew love of numerology (as evidenced strongly in the Book of Revelation), this is actually not absurd. Do we have any source whatsoever for numerical DigiCode? I believe if we wrote down the symbols, we'd find that there's only one of each on the sphere.KrytenKoro06 17:02, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

The symbols are definitely numbers, since they also appear on the compartment doors of the various Trailmon. However, this means it's basically impossible to translate them without those numbers being read somewhere.KrytenKoro06 07:55, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
They are also on Bokomon's digipedia.KrytenKoro06 18:20, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
They were also shown in the Frontier movie, on the wall with Ornismon, Ancientgreymon and Ancientgarurumon depicted on it. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 22:14, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

Tables[edit]

For some reason, the tables now have a white background, so the text is unreadable.KrytenKoro06 17:05, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

FIxed it. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 18:37, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Goatmon[edit]

Lhikan634 brought this to my attention. I'm not clear on the translation, but the DigiCode read as such:

Karitokagewomusubito nimukaishimanakoni wareshi

This appears to be fragments of this saying([1]:

光と影を結び時つぐる、高き日に向かいし山羊の眼に我を収めよ

which roughly translates as

"When light and shadow are joined, you are restored to the goat's eye which turns toward many days."

I don't think that's the correct meaning, though it is a possible literal translation. Can someone look for a translation that makes sense?KrytenKoro06 22:55, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

!!!! It's a quote from Lupin III - The Castle of Cagliostro'!!!

"Replace us in the eyes of the high goat that faces the sun and tells the time that joins Light and Shadow."KrytenKoro06 23:08, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
It does seem like it would be better translated as "When Light and Shadow are joined, set us in the eyes of the goat that faces the high sun.", because of the comma, and it sounds better in English, too. Then again, the tsugeru should come after the comma that way. Personally, I would choose this translation, but if we want to use the dub version that works too.KrytenKoro06 23:23, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

What I've put on Goatmon's article on DigiWiki:

The DigiCode on her gorget are fragments of a quote from Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro which reads "When Light and Shadow are joined, set us in the eyes of the high goat that faces the high sun." (光と影を結び時つぐる、高き日に向かいし山羊の眼に我を収めよ Hikari to kage wo musubi tokitsugeru, takaki nichi ni mukaishi yagi no manako ni ware wo osame yo).

Others[edit]

I know we have a lot of these scattered about the wiki, like Nefertimon and Wisemon. We should move those discussions here, and when they are finished, add them to the page.

Soon, I'll try to go through the manga again and reget the kana's I see (it was all wiped out when my PC died). But V-Tamer 01 and Next are FULL of this stuff.KrytenKoro06 03:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

To decipher
  • Wisemon's book (wikimon.net/Talk:Wisemon): We still haven't even finished reading it
First WaReHaWaISuMoN
  • Lucemon's magic square: No known symbols, possibly numbers
  • Plotmon (Da-192!): yuhorokusa (? no idea what this means)
  • Plotmon X: De - ji - ??
  • Agumon Hakase: "De" (I think like Ph"D")
--------
LHIKAN634 (message insert so as to be near the object of the message)
Where's the Lucemon magic square deal? Is there an image for it? I might be able to figure something out, but I'm not sure.
Plotmon/Salamon: I've translated one of these to be the common de-gi-ta-ro-mo-n-su-ta-a (digital monster). The one here is definitely different, and we may not even have the whole thing. I sure hope they didn't just decide to insert random digi-code...
Plotmon X/Salamon X: same thing (Digital monster)
Agumon Hakase: as there's only one letter of digi-code, it's just de (possibly in reference to PhD, but not showing anything more at all)
Lhikan634 23:45, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
--------
You'd have to watch the episode for Lucemon. The symbols don't match any of the official symbols.
Plotmon X's collar only has DigiCode on one card, and the spacing is too wide to allow the whole "Dejitaru Monsuta-". It might just be "Dejimon".
Agumon Hakase's bio is clear that the de means that it has its doctorate, it's just we don't know what the badge is actually supposed to say. Is it "De", or just "D"? It would help if someone here was actually Japanese.KrytenKoro06 02:24, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Nefertimon's Rosetta Stone (wikimon.net/User talk:Ainz#Nefertimon):

"From the stone of great light, This power is given That the shadows of evil Will be destroyed."

  • Goatmon's Gorget (digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Goatmon, fragments): "When Light and Shadow are joined, set us in the eyes of the goat that faces the high sun." so, literally: "Wh- / -ght and shadow are joined, / us in the eyes / that faces /"
  • Seraphimon's breechcloth (digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Seraphimon): "All is with me"
  • Kongoumon's breechcloth: "Kongou"
  • MagnaAngemon's Gate of Destiny: "Heaven's Gate" (on one card, this just says "Digital Monster")
  • Breakdramon: "Warning" (there is also a warning sticker with writing on one of the pistons) - File:Breakdramon2.jpg)
  • Garudamon: "Digimon" (spelled either as dejimon or degimon)
  • Gerbemon's lid: "01 Digi"
  • Khaosmon's Bantyo Blade: "Khaosmon"
  • Omegamon and Omegamon X's Grey Sword: "All Delete" (spelled in reverse on Omegamon X)
  • Omekamon: "O"
  • Tylomon: "Deep 2000"
  • Imperialdramon's Omega Blade (English DigiCode!): "Initialize"
  • Silphymon's visor: "Eyes"
  • Trailmon C-89: "Digital Express"

"Digital Monster":

  • Angemon's ribbon
  • Angewomon's ribbon
  • Anubimon's pants
  • BlackGrowmon's stripes

  • Raijinmon (雷神): "Raijin"
  • Fujinmon (風神): Fūjin

  • Dantemon(戸締用心):"Precautions for locking door"

What does it say on Turuiemon's jacket and Baihumon's bucklers?KrytenKoro06 16:00, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

On Baihumon's bucklers it reads overall as "白虎" and for Turuiemon's jacket, "武闘". --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 16:46, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
I can't see it on the cards, but the Bandai image for Vajramon appears to show something on the tip of its swords.KrytenKoro06 06:34, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
I've watched the seventeenth episode of Tamers and there's a small, clearer glimpse of what's at the tip of its swords, or at least on one of them; it appears to resemble a sanskrit character which looks similar to "व". --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 14:02, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Looking at Zanbamon, his Ryuuzanmaru also has symbols on it, but they look like kanji. It's too long to just say "Ryuuzanmaru", though (it is at least five characters). I can only find two high-quality images of his cards, and neither of them show the characters.KrytenKoro06 16:48, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, can anyone figure out what the symbol on Taomon is?KrytenKoro06 23:00, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, the "Now Loading..." screen on Digimon Tamers: Battle Evolution (Rumble Arena in America) says..."Na-u Ro-di-n-gu".KrytenKoro06 07:21, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Also also, Ouryumon's blades just have their names on them in kanji.KrytenKoro06 08:11, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Devas: [2]

what does the symbol on Dondokomon's back mean? It looks like a katakana "to" in a circle with a dot to the right.KrytenKoro06 09:05, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

This is derived from a tanka, found in the Kokin Wakashū, that Emperor Kanmu recited to a woman whom he had once admired named Kudara no Konikishi Myōshin (百済王 明信), wife of statesman Fujiwara no Tsuginawa, during an informal banquet in 795. The tanka reads:

Japanese Romanization Translation

If I tread again
The old path across the fields
Trodden in days past
Might it be renewed—
the old path across the fields?

However, the Digimoji on the wanted sign misspells "furumichi" (古道) as "furugi" (古着, lit. "old clothing"), so, in full, the sign reads:

Demon[edit]

http://cards.wtw-x.net/carddass/DM-036/

Demon has some sort of "Unholy Ring" on his legs. I can't read it at that size, but at least we know to be looking for it.KrytenKoro06 17:01, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

[3]
It looks like it might be visible during the opening or when you have it in your dictionary, but the youtube version is too blurry. This might be another Wisemon situation, because it's there, but it's too fuzzy.KrytenKoro06 01:41, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure I've seen HD images of some DSAM characters before on Gamespot (Demon being one of them), but that might be just me. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 04:53, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Digimon Tamers[edit]

When the Tamers use their D-Arcs to evolve their Digimon to the Adult level, DigiCode is displayed in a "cocoon-like" structure which appears to read "ajikeruibugenrinofu" repeatedly, which looks like gibberish, unless there's some sort of order to it. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 16:18, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Judging by the similar gibberish in Savers, I'm guessing that it's supposed to be something reminiscent of The Matrix and similar "inside the computer" movies, where you just see random letters everywhere.KrytenKoro06 20:21, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Digimon Adventure episode 49[edit]

In episode 49 of Digimon Adventure, at the Numemon-enslaving factory led by Waru Monzaemon, there is a DigiCode inscription seen on each of the two domes (or whatever they are). I cannot find one character in the tables, though I seem to remember seeing it before; that is the leftmost visible character in the screenshot.

Unlisted DigiCode in DA-49.png

The rest of the characters read リーンエネルギー (rīn enerugī), though on one of the domes the Test4a.png has an extra horizontal stroke. It seems that the inscription forms the name of the factory (... Energy). Chortos-2 21:14, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Isn't that the * symbol? ※ (it appears as a DigiCode ID on the cards). It might be "*Lean Energy".
Nevermind. They were probably going for "gu" there (that cross symbol is the smallest bit of gu, and has the same line in different positions), which would make it "Green Energy".KrytenKoro06 03:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
I've checked it, and it's definitely "ku", so in full it reads as "クリリーンエネルギー" (Dcku2 w.pngDcri w.pngDcri w.pngTest4a.pngDce w.pngDcne w.pngDcru2 w.pngDcgi w.pngDcchouon2 w.png), I can't find what "クリリーン" means, but it might have been intended to mean "Clean Energy". --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 06:53, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, it's how you spell "Krillin", for one. Could it be a DBZ reference?KrytenKoro06 09:02, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
There is only one ri in there. I’ve managed to find another shot where the ku is fully visible, so it’s definitely Clean Energy. Also, to the right of the last character, there is a subtle shape that looks like the left half of ku, which I assume is the start of another repetition of the factory name that’s inscribed on the dome several times. I’ve taken two new screenshots where both ku can be seen and glued them together; all other characters that can be seen in the episode are also there. Chortos-2 14:49, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

My bad, I accidentally interpreted half of the "Dcri w.png" character as "リ" So yeah, "クリーンエネルギー". --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 15:54, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

It says something there, but it doesn't look like DigiCode to me. Possibly "DIM"?KrytenKoro06 05:22, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

I was thinking that it could be "DIIM" (D2M?) standing for "design to manufacture" which could relate, but then again... --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 13:42, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

[4], but although they use "デジモン文字", the jpg with the list of characters uses "Degimozi" so "デジ文字" is (probably) a contraction. What should we change the name of the page to?--Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 23:37, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

BlackImperialdramons[edit]

It's not exactly the most reliable source, but the Jintrix card blatantly omits the DigiLetters on the Positron Laser, despite DigiLetters being present on other cards where applicable.KrytenKoro06 18:01, 12 August 2011 (CDT)

BlackSeraphimon[edit]

The bit with the arrow is actually a scrambled bar inserted right in the middle of the top letter (so that vertical bar is the bottom part of the su)

It ends up being "Subete---ware to to---", a fragment of Seraphimon's "Subete ha ware to tomoni"..

"Ha" is basically "is", and "tomoni" is "together with". So this would be represented in English as "All...to-...me."KrytenKoro06 19:25, 29 August 2011 (CDT)

Evil Ring[edit]

Not sure where to put it, but TMS reminded me that Evil Rings say "Evil Ring". The Evil Spiral says something too.KrytenKoro06 22:00, 13 September 2011 (CDT)

Xros wars manga: Wizardmon's spell?[edit]

Text.png

So this is a spell wizardmon used in the manga to turn the digimon into humans, I can't exactly figure out what it says, and the two new emblems in there are confusing me further, Any idea on what it says? [the tiny boxes with no line and the "W" with the line going down the bottom "^" middles arch, are the new two I am referring too.]

Seems to just be a misprint for "tei". The spell is:
"デジ文字は大抵アシスタントさんに適当な事を書いて貰っています"
"Dejimoji ha taitei Ashisutanto-san ni tekitouna-koto wo kaite moratte imasu."
"The DigiLetters were something mostly appropriate written down for me by Ms. Assistant."

Chapter 14: Ebemon's Moves[edit]

Currently, the translation for Dche w.pngTest4a.pngDcshi w.pngTest4a.png is said to be "reply". Given that this literally translates to へんしん/henshin the kanji represented by the kana are not known for sure. "返信" means reply, but at Jisho I also found another common word: "変身" meaning "metamorphosis; disguise; transformation; shapeshifting; morphing". IMHO that matches the actual effect in the game way better (gives the bugged status to Ebemon changing its type) than calling it "reply". Any opinions on that? --Kreuvf (talk) 14:34, 28 July 2019 (CDT)

table[edit]

Would it be okay if we organized the top table with the normal alphabet organization, and the combination/dakuten symbols in a separate table? It's kind of hard to read as-is.KrytenKoro06 (talk) 09:00, 27 October 2020 (CDT)

From reddit:

The outer text says אלהים, (pronounced "elohim") which is the Hebrew word for God, and the star has the letter ה between each point, which is a single letter that commonly represents God in Hebrew. KrytenKoro06 (talk) 16:23, 29 March 2022 (CDT)

The braille appears to be gibberish. I was able to figure out two strings (⠝⠯⠻⠟ (NÇÏQ) and ⠦⠝⠗⠲⠜⠗ (?NR.äR)), and neither of them are coherent. The full seal is more visible [here https://wikimon.net/images/3/33/Alphamon3.jpg], but that one splits the two rows of braille into three rows of non-braille dots, which don't repeat and are thus intentional, but they only take up four spaces so I think they're not braille, unless they're all first-row symbols (ex. ⠓⠛⠁⠓⠛⠊⠋⠁⠙⠊⠋ ⠛⠊(HGAHGIFADIFGI)).

The digimoji appears to just be "DIGITAL MONSTER", as normal. It's clearest on the promotional art, and the image in the D-Cyber manhua Ch 14 p 13 appears to have misunderstood several of the letters, and just gone kind of crazy with it.

FWIW, the manhua abandons all pretense of braille whatsoever -- the dots are not organized radial-orthogonally at all, and some almost seem to be mimicking the latin alphabet -- but aside from a few that look like they might be an S, U, or D, there's several between them that don't map to a recognizable letter, and apparently there's no raws of this manhua available to try to get a better pic from. I can't make heads or tails of it.KrytenKoro06 (talk) 14:03, 29 March 2022 (CDT)
