Digimon Xros Wars[edit]
Kotone is Amano Nene's younger sister and her only surviving relative. Although she possesses the strongest Xros Code, she has fallen into a deep sleep, prompting Nene to seek Dark Knightmon's assistance in awakening her. Nene's concern for Kotone allows Dark Knightmon to manipulate her, concealing his intention to exploit Kotone's power for himself.
In "Xros Friend!! The Location of Trust", Kotone is revealed to be a General. Dark Knightmon intends to make her his new General by using Shademon to control her. During the confrontation at his fortress, however, Nene intervenes before Shademon can take Kotone as its host. She forces Shademon to DigiXros with her instead, becoming Shademon (Nene Ver.) and sacrificing her own freedom to protect her sister.
Following her rescue, Kotone joins Xros Heart. With Nene now trapped within her fusion with Shademon, Kotone becomes involved in the allied army's efforts to save her. She forms a partnership with Sparrowmon and commands him through her yellow Xros Loader, taking an active role in the war alongside Kudou Taiki, Aonuma Kiriha, Hinomoto Akari, and Tsurugi Zenjirou.
During the confrontation with Tactimon, Shoutmon X7 is defeated and separates into its component Digimon. Kotone then Super Evolves Sparrowmon into Raptor Sparrowmon. Together with Omega Shoutmon, Zeke Greymon, Atlur Ballistamon, and Yaeger Dorulumon, her partner becomes part of Shoutmon EX6. This combined force, supported by Shooting Starmon, defeats Tactimon.
Kotone also plays an important role in rescuing Nene during the final confrontation with Zeed Millenniumon. After Shademon incorporates itself and Nene into the creature's Moon Millenniumon component, Kotone and Kiriha work together to reach her. Their efforts help restore Nene's hope, allowing Shademon to evolve into Luminamon while still fused with her, producing Luminamon (Nene Ver.).
The DigiXros forming Zeed Millenniumon is subsequently undone, freeing Nene but releasing the Digimon contained within it into the Real World. Kotone and her allies continue fighting against the remaining threat, Ultimate Chaosmon, contributing to the Final Xros that creates Shoutmon X7: Superior Mode. Its victory brings the war to an end and allows Kotone to reunite with her sister.

Trivia[edit]
- At the "Hypnos Meeting 2019", Nakashima Yuuki responded to a fan that if Mervamon had been active in the manga's plot, she might have joined Kotone or Hinomoto Akari, since Nene doesn't join the group halfway through the story, like in the anime.[13]
