Data Link
Data Link (データリンク, Dēta Rinku) is a process that makes possible to the Tamer to access the Digital World and directly interfere with a Digital Monster.
Overview[edit]
The Digital World is a mysterious world on the network managed on multiple servers similar to the Human World whose existence was revealed to the public in 1997. In the 1990s the Digimon, Mysterious beings of varied species, gifted with intelligence that could evolve, could be observed on a computer that looked at the Digital World. More than 800 Digimon were discovered at the time and more were being discovered.
There were several ways to connect with the Digital World; in fact using a Personal Computer it was possible to see this world in detail through the screen. But it could only be used to observe the Digital World and the Digital Monsters that inhabited it. In 1997, the virtual pet Digital Monster was released. With it, direct contact with the Digimon became a success. That is, with the development of this portable device it would be possible to finally interfere with Digimon that previously could only be observed.
With this portable device it was possible to directly access the Digital World and interfere with the Digital Monster. First look for Digitamas in the Digital World, then intervene in the Digitama state data using a small amount of data and then make a "Data Link" with the Digitama. The Data-linkd Eggs were transferred to addresses assigned to each device known as Training BOX (「育成 BOX」, Ikusei Bokkusu) located in other layers of the Digital World. After that it was possible to train the Digital Monsters in the isolated space through the operation of the device.
The portable device only accesses the Training BOX that is on the Network, the Digimon wasn't actually inside the device. The devices were used to do research with the Digimon, but later began to be sold to those who would later be called Tamers.
Years later, the Digimon Twin introduced the "Twin Link System", the system that was installed on these devices. Infrared was used to connect them and transfer Digicore between the two types of hardware, "Model L (Liberation)" and "Model R (Revolution)". This breaked "Link Security" and allowed for more advanced Data Link.
