Agumon-species
The Agumon-species, known as "the various Agumon" (いろいろなアグモン Iroirona Agumon) or "the Types of Agumon" (アグモンの種類 Agumon no Shurui), is a family of Digimon whose names and designs are based on the original Agumon. Depending on the data they absorb and their environment, some Digimon of the same species can change their appearance, form, and even the internal structure of their Digicore. These Digimon are then counted as a separate species from the original Digimon. Agumon, in particular, has many different species, meaning a variety of unique "Agumon".[1] The various types of Agumon depend on the nature of the Baby II form that evolves into Agumon. For example, a Koromon may evolve into Yuki Agumon to adapt to the cold, while an intelligent Koromon with a passion for education may evolve into Agumon Hakase.[2]
Agumon -Yuki no Kizuna- is the only Ultimate stage Digimon to bear the name "Agumon". Among the various Agumon, this one is considered to have had special encounters to have developed in this way.[2]
Most Agumon are Child stage Digimon that are usually Reptile or Dinosaur types. The Agumon-species is related to the Greymon-species, as the effect of the X-Antibody on Agumon improves its qualities for evolving into the exceptionally outstanding Dinosaur-types, the Greymon-species. Agumon (X-Antibody) also evolves from a Reptile-type (as Agumon) into a Dinosaur-type itself.[3] The X-Antibody is said to have increased the ferocity of Agumon (X-Antibody) and Agumon (Black) (X-Antibody).[2]
