In "Departure – to a New Continent!", a Whamon swallows the Chosen Children and their partners on their way to the Server Continent. Inside his stomach, they find a Black Gear and destroy it, returning Whamon back to normal. In order to thank them, Whamon transports them to the continent. The same Whamon reappears in "The Raging King of the Seas! Metal Seadramon" and helps the Chosen Children escaping from one of the Dark Masters Metal Seadramon and his army. However, after rediscovering his enemies, Metal Seadramon kills Whamon.

Whamon appears as an obtainable Adult-level Data type Digimon in Digimon World.
If you have defeated Orgemon in the Ogre Fortress, a Whamon will appear in the Ice Flows of Freezeland, southwest of where the Mojyamon live, which is a little angry and asks you for help because Orgemon took away his house, which is the Secret Beach Cave. Whamon will ferry you to the Cave where Orgemon along with its gang will be waiting to fight the Player. After it has been defeated, Orgemon will escape in a submarine and Whamon will thank you joining the Village of Beginnings, next to the Meat Farm where Whamon will build a dock, ferrying you to either Factorial Town or its Secret Cave, so you can get a bunch of items, including Digitamamon's evolution item, the Mystery Egg.
If your Partner is a Whamon, its size will be scaled down for the sake of playability, compared to the Whamon NPC.
Palmon, Betamon and Penmon all can evolve into Whamon, in order to evolve into Whamon, your Digimon must meet the following criteria:
- At least 1000 HP and 100 Brains stat requirements
- Between 2 and 3 Care Mistakes
- A Weight between 30 to 40g
- Bonus conditions: Have at least a Discipline of 60% and have at least 28 different techniques mastered.
Whamon's evolution item is the North Star which lets any Child Digimon evolve into Whamon.
Whamon has 5 possible evolutions depending on the stats and Care Mistakes made:
- Mamemon
- Mega Seadramon
- Coelamon (A Whamon can become Coelamon if it reaches 15 days old. This has a 30% chance of happening.)
- Scumon (When its Poop Gauge is full).
- Vademon (When you scold it when its age reaches 15 days old, though this has a 50% chance of happening).

Whamon appears as an opponent in the lake section of Freezeland.
Whamon is also an obtainable Level IV (Adult) Ice card with the highest HP of all Level IV Digimon card (1300 HP). Its Support Effect can turn own Digimon's HP to 700 HP.
Pocket Digimon World: Cool & Nature Battle Disc[edit]
Whamon evolves from Gomamon and can evolve into Mega Seadramon, Marin Devimon, or Chimairamon.
Digimon World: Digital Card Arena[edit]
Whamon is the second opponent of the first, second and third Igloo City's Battle Arenas. It uses the Ocean Defense deck, a Blue/Water deck with 2 attack, 3 defense and 2 evolution speed which focuses entirely on defense, as typical Blue/Water decks do.
Whamon is also an obtainable Level IV (Adult) Ice card with the highest HP of all the Level IV Digimon cards. Its stats are:
- HP: 1300
- DP: 40
- +P: 20
- Circle attack: 340
- Triangle attack: 220
- X attack: 150, Triangle to 0
- Support Ability: Own HP become 700.
Whamon's attacks are Tidal Wave, Jet Arrow and Giganto Press.

Whamon is an obtainable Adult Blue card with 18 AP / 18 HP. Three or more Whamon cards on the field will create a Zudomon combo.
Whamon is also a wild Digimon that can be found in the Real World's Magasta. It is also used by Magasta's Royal Guard and the official Xuan Wu Leader. There is also another recolored Whamon that can be found on Amaterasu Server's Seabed. Both Whamon are notably having massive amount of HP.

Whamon first appeared in Episode 19, "Departure – to a New Continent!", where he showed himself to the Chosen Children as they sailed towards Server Continent, then swallowed them despite being a Digimon that normally lived in the bottom of the Net Ocean. The Chosen Children were then taken to his stomach, where they found a Black Gear, explaining his rampaging status. To take it out, Yagami Taichi climbed on Palmon's Poison Ivy. After succeeding at that, Whamon expelled the Chosen Children from his body. Whamon then apologized for his actions, and Taichi asked him how far Server Continent was, which he replied was five days away for him. Taichi then asked him about the Tags and Crests, which Whamon didn't know about, but he did know that Devimon had gone under sea ocean once and put something there. Whamon then offered to escort them to said place, a cave in the bottom of the ocean.
After the Chosen Children defeated Drimogemon and found the Tags, they went back to Whamon, who then took them to Server Continent.
Whamon reappeared in the Beach Area of Spiral Mountain after the Chosen Children defeated Anomalocarimon in Episode 50, "Nostalgic Beach". He warned the Chosen Children that Metal Seadramon was coming and took them with him. Continuing in Episode 51, "The Raging King of the Seas! Metal Seadramon", from inside Whamon, Takenouchi Sora asked him why the Digital World was changed like this, but Whamon couldn't answer. After Yagami Hikari tried to cheer her brother up, Whamon agreed, and proposed to search for a place beyond Metal Seadramon's reach, even if there wasn't a single safe place in the world left. However, the fish soon alerted him that Metal Seadramon's minions were near. Whamon tried diving to throw them off, which seemingly worked but Whamon knew they weren't safe yet. Izumi Koshiro proposed using Hikari's whistle as a sonar, which let them find multiple tunnels that led to the surface. As they didn't know which tunnel was the right one, Taichi offered to choose (lower, middle), which led them to an undersea cavern where they could make a landing, so the Chosen Children took the chance to leave Whamon to check the cavern. Having done so, they returned to Whamon and, once again, Taichi had to choose the path they'd follow (right, left, left), leading them to another undersea cave for the Chosen Children to investigate. After coming back, Taichi had to pick one more time (right), which finally led them to a tunnel that led to the surface. However, Whamon asked the Chosen Children to rest for a moment, which Taichi accepted and apologised for pushing him so hard.
Before they could get to the surface, Whamon realized that Metal Seadramon was catching up to them at top speed, but Whamon swore to get the Chosen Children to the surface no matter what. Whamon left the Chosen Children on a beach to hold back Metal Seadramon on his own. Metal Seadramon then showed himself, wondering if the Chosen Children intended to die there. Whamon rammed Metal Seadramon, but that barely flinched the Ultimate, who then shot Whamon with an Ultimate Stream, mortally wounding him, then attacked the Chosen Children.
Tachikawa Mimi proposed making a grave for Whamon, which the rest of the Chosen Children agreed with, in Sub-Episode 18, "Memories of Whamon", which happens after Episode 51, "The Raging King of the Seas! Metal Seadramon". As Mimi collected flowers for the grave, she reminsced about her memories with Whamon, reminding the others of how much he helped them. After the Chosen Children made Whamon's grave, Mimi heard him roaring from the sea, which led her to an ATK Boost V (+35 ATK) and a Regain (allows one ally to attack twice for three turns) DigiPiece. Mimi felt she could hear his voice and Palmon thought he was watching over them, so the DigiPieces must be gifts from him to them. Before leaving, Mimi promised Whamon they'd meet again and they'd put an end to the Dark Masters.
