When Belphemon awakens from its slumber it changes into an incarnation of rage, and anything that enters its field of vision becomes a target for destruction. It is said that just by suffering Belphemon: Rage Mode's roar, Perfect Digimon and below will have their data disintegrated and die instantly, and not even Ultimate Digimon can escape unharmed. Its Special Moves are black flames cast from the chains coiled around its body (Lampranthus), and a slash attack which is unleashed from its claws, clad in the flames of hell (Gift of Darkness). In addition, the data of Digimon consigned to oblivion by the Digimon crowned as the Seven Great Demon Lords is not reincarnated, but is sent to the center of the Dark Area, and becomes the flesh and blood of the Demon Lords. After Thoma betrayed Kurata and destroyed the device for controlling Belphemon: Sleep Mode, Kurata digitized himself and merged with it, causing his clock to ring and awaken as Belphemon: Rage Mode. He was easily defeated by Shine Greymon: Burst Mode.

A Belphemon: Rage Mode is one of the many Virus Digimon spawned by the polyhedron. Due to the power difference between it and Greymon, it was completely unfazed by the latter's Mega Flame and was able to take it down in one move with Gift of Darkness. However, it was beaten in one shot as well thanks to Zeromaru's V-Wing Blade.

After Lili kicked Belphemon: Sleep Mode twice, it awoke as Belphemon: Rage Mode. It only woke up once every thousand years, and considered Lili admirable for accomplishing that feat, so as a reward she'd receive its strongest attack. Lili's confidence then left her as she realized how bad the situation was. Shinomiya Rina pushed Lili out of the way, getting hit by Belphemon's attack instead. Having released its overwhelming power, Belphemon returned to its slumber to maintain the order of the world, so it entered its Sleep Mode once again.
