I would personally stick to 'mutated' because I feel it's more common/easier for people generally to understand and conveys the intent anyway. 'Saltation' sounds more like some overly specific science process, tbh I've never actually come across the word before this but from what I understand it's meant to refer to an abrupt mutation that occurs between generations? --Garmmon (talk) 10:03, 16 August 2018 (CDT)

Isn't the literal translation something like "while suddenly changed"? If we want to go with one word, "Transformed" might work. "Mutated" works alright, though I feel like mutation is a more specific process that's not really covered by the name. --TMS (talk) 13:43, 16 August 2018 (EST)

yeah 'transformed' works too, but 豹変 is often used with a negative connotation whereas to me 'transformed' feels like a more...neutral term? compared to 'mutated'. --Garmmon (talk) 14:01, 16 August 2018 (CDT)
