Talk:Digimon Comic Award
Should these get Wikimon articles?[edit]
We have articles for contest winners that were never actually turned into proper Digimon (for example, Technodramon) as well as other stuff that's on the line between canon or not (like the Digimon Adventure 20th Anniversary Memorial Story Project Digimon). Should these get proper articles too, and be acknowledged as proper Digimon material? They were posted by the official Digimon Twitter account and official site, so they aren't only fan-made material anymore. This would also mean certain changes in other articles if they are to be acknowledged as such (they give new "official" lines like Elecmon > Tyranomon, ToyAgumon > SkullGreymon, and Psychemon > Gururumon).
I have zero Japanese knowledge so I couldn't do it myself, but I didn't want to take a step in editing other articles one way or another when this is on a weird grey area when it comes to being official material.--Blaze Dragon (talk) 19:06, 30 July 2023 (GMT -3)
- Context matters a lot in this case. If being published on the official site is enough to make them official material, then Seekers has dozens of 'official' fanart. In the case of the contest-winning Digimon, they're a distinctly different situation from this manga contest. They were explicit that one of the rewards for those Digimon contests was about adopting the winning entry as official Digimon. On the other hand, it was never stated nor implied that they would adopt the winning manga entry as official Digimon manga; the contest was about scouting the grand-prize author themselves to take part in a new Digimon manga project (which would then be official 'canon').
- What's being adopted as 'official' is not the manga itself, but the author of said manga. I don't think these contest entries need any more acknowledgment than what is already on the contest page, but the future official manga that our grand-prize winner contributes to should be properly acknowledged whenever that's ever published. --YongYoKyo (talk) 22:34, 30 July 2023 (CDT)
- were actually discussing it on the discord, and we're not sure. there's arguments both for and against it. rn, were gonna wait to see whats said in the august 20th vjump about the actual winner. if we do cover it, i think itd only be 2/3/4 as theyre the only ones that showed manga pages. im actually more on the against side, chimera is more on the for side, tms is in the middle. also skullgreymon was basicaly a 6 way digixros. technodromon is real btw, something like Bancho Orgemon was a fan contest runner up that wasn't made canon. so the question is do they count as bancho orgemon/not official as they lost, or do they count like the official fan made digimon like Angemon. if the winner's manga isnt what gets turned into something official and the one he makes is in co-operation with bandai then theyd all be non official.Muur (talk) 02:35, 31 July 2023 (CDT)
