Block 1 encompasses the second year of the game, spanning the following sets:

• Starter decks ST-7 through ST-11
• Boosters BT-06 through BT-09
• Extra boosters EX-01 through EX-02
• Promo cards P-035 through P-077

Cards from previous blocks reprinted in this era were also given the block icon.

Block 1 marks the beginning of archetypal card design, with the older color-based synergies being phased out in favor of trait and name synergies. Multicolor cards, special evolution requirements, jogress, and option cards/Tamers with inherited effects were all introduced in this era. In addition, the penultimate set of the block, EX-02, introduced the game's first "zoo deck" in D-Reaper, eschewing conventional stack-building in favor of hard slamming large bodies for reduced costs.

Most of the block icon continues the same overly-descriptive card text from block 0, however starting with the final set of the block, BT-09, redundant card text and explainer text starts to be removed.

Block 1's consistency option was the Memory Boost.
