エルンストウェル[edit]

On Digimon Dictionary, Bandai clearly states that the etymology of this attack is "gravity wave" (独:重力波 = Doitsu: Jyuuryokuha = Deu: gravity wave). I've checked all over the Internet for the individual words "ernst" and "welle" and they do match up with "gravity" and "wave" respectively in some way or another. Since Bandai makes a lot of mistakes with borrowing words from other languages - i.e on the Ogudomon article - Grandioloqua being a small error of Grandiloqua (although Grandioloqua would still be valid but not the context of its profiles), they still need to be taken into account of, so if there is a grammatical error in how Bandai's translated it, a note needs to be written regarding it which should include a (theoretically) correct version. --Ainz 26 September 2008, 10:21 (UTC)

I can only agree with that. Since I speak German, I can only confirm that there is a mistake. Earnest Wave would be correct. Which makes not much sense at all. --MugenSeiRyuu

"Gravity Wave" is a correct translation, but not in the meaning they were going for. I think instead of bringing "Earnest" into it, it would be best to just explain that Bandai messed up on their German-English-Japanese translation. I tried a way of phrasing it on the article.KrytenKoro06 07:39, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Gravity Wave is not correct at all. I'm from Germany and Ernste Welle would be "Earnest Wave" as opposed to "Gravitiy Wave". --MugenSeiRyuu 23:04, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

[1]. "Earnest" is a synonym for "Gravity" in English, which is the cause of the mistranslation.KrytenKoro06 02:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

What the heck? So they basically translated it from Japanese into English and then from Engish into German with the help of an Online Translator...--MugenSeiRyuu 08:40, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, he's Hitler[edit]

Let's go over a list:

  • Austterben: Extinction.
  • Blond hair.
  • His name is "duft", close to "Adolf" (different etymologies to the names, but c'mon)
  • He is the leading strategist of the royal knights, and the knights are usually based on kings (i.e., Fuhrer).
  • On the battlefield, he transforms into a black leopard (panther) and charges across the battlefield - so he's a Panzer "tank".
  • He has the "Sword of Extermination"
  • He believes "Power = Justice".
  • 描き, in the description for "Extinction", is....painting. And he "paints an arc across the sky", like "lightning", (or blitzkreig).
  • Most gallingly of all, Duftmon X's attacks are "Brown Fog" and "One Trillion".

I have no idea how we would mention this in the article, but it is definitely notable enough to mention somehow.KrytenKoro06 01:43, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Hyperinflation, holocaust... Oh yeah! They definitely need to be mentioned, I was thinking of adding a "Design" tab to the Profile template. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 08:16, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
I think a design tab would be awesome! Could put a lot of information that used to be in the "Profiles" there instead. On another note, in your minds, please supplant Germany from Axis Powers Hetalia with Duftmon. --devkyu 00:12, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I am amused. Koroku

Duft is not close to Adolf...It does not even sound close. Hitler was not really in Power = Justice. More thinking of some sort of Master Race existing. That is more Social Darwinism, a perversion of Darwin's theory.--MugenSeiRyuu 23:07, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, "Duft" does not sound extremely like Adolf, but they do have similarities in sound.
Hitler: "As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice."
I may be misunderstanding "power = justice", but isn't that exactly what social darwinism is? He who has the power makes the rules?KrytenKoro06 02:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
More like he who is superior rules while everyone else goes extinct.--MugenSeiRyuu 08:48, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Just to be clear, though, everything on this list was picked out by a German that I know after reading the bio to them, so it's not me being clueless about Germany.KrytenKoro06 03:00, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm also German, but I did not come to that conclusion. Him being a fanatic sure, but really not Hitler. Also, in Savers he stated that the Digimon were not important and needed to be sacrificed if it is the only way to save the Digital World. You know, just like the Royal Knights in X-Evolution.--MugenSeiRyuu 08:48, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Isn't that exactly Hitler's rhetoric against the Gypsies and Jews? That they needed to be eliminated to save the world?KrytenKoro06 16:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
I think so, but I don't think that Hitler was willing to kill all the Germans to do that.--MugenSeiRyuu 09:58, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Once we manage to compile all of this (if there's other things), how would we write this in the design section? Other than the Hitler references/connotations, its "fencing apparel" also needs to be included. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 07:00, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
I've added a detailed part to the "Design and Analysis" section which incorporates most of these points, it just needs checking over for grammar, etc. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 23:51, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I've just thought "Eroberung" for Leopard Mode could be a reference to the German Conquest of Europe 1939-1942 (i.e Battle of France, etc)--Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 02:51, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Swords[edit]

Okay, the bio seems to use "Aussterben" and "Ernste Welle" as the attack names, but prefaces them with the "Sword of Extermination" and "Sword of Destruction". The Spa-005 seems to imply that these are titles rather than equipment names, and it uses "Aussterben" as the equipment and attack name. Logically, if the bio is treating these as titles and Aussterben is the actual sword name, then the way the bio is written, Ernste Welle would be a sword too - the trouble is, Duftmon only has one sword.

So, there's two solutions that I can see -

  1. Aussterben and Ernste Welle are indeed the equipment, but are both names for the same sword (somehow in different states). However, this would require the Digimon Channel bio and Savers profile to have been misworded.
  2. "Sword of Extermination" and "Sword of Destruction" are the equipment. However, this requires that whoever wrote the card for SPa-005 to have misunderstood the character.

I would personally choose #2, since the card was released before the bio was finallized, wasn't it?

However, does Duftmon ever name his sword in Savers? That would also change things.KrytenKoro06 08:24, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure. I've checked Savers 48 and all he seems to say is "Shoumetsu no Tsurugi" before using "Aussterben" for the first time, likewise with "Ernste Welle", but what does that imply? --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 08:50, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

If he actually says "Shoumetsu no Tsurugi", then that would pretty well imply that that's the actual name for the sword, at least in the context of the bio. In that case, I would definitely support #2.KrytenKoro06 09:25, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

uhhmm,I am german and i know that "ernste Welle" doesnt mean Gravity wave.it means "serious wave"-kaialone02

Again, there is more than one meaning to "gravity" in English. One of them is the force, the other is exactly "serious".KrytenKoro06 02:47, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
It looks perfect.KrytenKoro06 04:59, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Original profile[edit]

Another nerfed one:

Some corrections for the Design & Analysis-section[edit]

I've read Duftmons profile and there were some things that bugged me in his Design & Analysis-section. The arguments are true but there are some hints missing as well as some errors:

1)It is spelled Blitzkrieg not Blitzkreig. It is just a little typo but a wiki should be correct, shouldn't it?

2)The Leopard Tank is a modern German Tank! (Leopard 1 was first built in 1965, which is after-war era. The world famous and still world wide selling Leopard 2 was first built in 1979 and is still produced in various models. IF this Leopard-name has any meanings then it should refer to the modern Germany, rather than the Third Reich.) Just to note: The famous WW2 tank was called "Tiger". Some people mistake those two tanks as they both have cat-names.

Some more hints:

3)Duftmons armor is brown. This color also was the main color of the Führers uniform, as well as the political members of the NSDAP (The National-Socialistic Party) in general. Here is a quote form Wikipedia of the NSDAP-article: "The political leadership corps of the Nazi Party were those persons who were most often associated as being "Nazis" in the stereotypical sense of the word, as it was these individuals who wore brown paramilitary Nazi uniform"

4)Duftmons ideology (the strong survive, the weak die) is a 100% copy from the ideology of the Reich.

And one thing I'm wondering about: Does anybody know why it is called "Duftmon"? Duft is German and means "scent/fragrance". What is this supposed to mean? Are there any hidden facts or an actual point why this Digimon has such a weird name?
