Talk:Darkness Bagramon (Dark Knightmon)
From Wikimon
Name Source[edit]
The official Korean Guide calls this Digimon "Darkness Bagramon", while the actual Darkness Bagramon is referred to as "Mega Darkness Bagramon". How do we want to handle this? I would personally go for "Darkness Bagramon (Dark Knightmon)". --Shadow Shinji (talk) 18:07, 29 December 2021 (CST)
- DarknessBagramon would be a Korean dub name for this Digimon. Not sure if we want to take it into account when deciding a name for the page. --TMS (talk) 19:26, 29 December 2021 (EST)
- I would argue normally we wouldn't, but I am not sure if this Digimon has any official name in the anime series (even if it's just DarkKnightmon). If it's not the case, I would personally go with the only available one, even if it's from Korean origin. Furthermore, the guide seems super legit and in sync with the available Japanese material, as far as I can tell. --Shadow Shinji (talk) 18:29, 29 December 2021 (CST)
- if we were to use a name from a dub we'd obviously use the one the English dub used not the Korean dub.Muur (talk) 11:11, 30 December 2021 (CST)
- The English dub is not better or more legit than any other dub. Wikimon is based on the original source, the other many dubs out there are in second place at the same level. This Korean guide seems more like a translation of the original material than a dub or adaptation per se. --Shadow Shinji (talk) 12:01, 30 December 2021 (CST)
- I mean thats not true, the "dub" field on this wiki is for the english dub/localisation and then there is an "other language" section. so no, korean is not treated on the same level as english. its japanese, then english, then everything else.Muur (talk) 12:17, 30 December 2021 (CST)
- Then that should be fixed, because ultimately it leads to some users to think that the English dub has any sort of relevance or privilage in this wiki more than a side note or fun trivia, which is not the case. People who traditionally have consulted Wikimon do it because they are interested in the original material. There are other dub-oriented wikis out there (whether Spanish, Korean, English, French, etc.) for that purpose, and you should know this already. --Shadow Shinji (talk) 09:59, 2 January 2022 (CST)
