| Rurimon is one of five Digimon created as a reward for making a minimum pledge of ¥300,000 to the Digimon Adventure 20th Anniversary Memorial Story Project crowdfunding campaign on Campfire.[1] An individual who goes by the online handle of "Tomoshibi" 「灯」 was one of the backers of the ¥300,000 tier, and Rurimon was designed as their partner Digimon by Digimon designer Watanabe Kenji based on their input and wishes. As part of the reward, Bandai later sent Tomoshibi model sheets and finalized key art of Rurimon by Watanabe,[2] as well as a one-of-a-kind plush doll of Rurimon.
According to Tomoshibi, they were so nervous in their meeting with Watanabe that the only input they were able to give him on which to base the design was that they liked Agumon and the color blue.[2] Hence, Rurimon strongly resembles Agumon.
To date, Rurimon has never appeared in any official Digimon media.
