Hajime was a human scientist working with the Royal Knight Gankoomon in the Digital World. Some time prior to the story, he negotiated with Bloom Lordmon so he could use a part of the Digital World's forest as a disaster evacuation site in exchange for teaching Digimon how to evolve without relying on combat. He also tasked Gankoomon to collect Digimon data in a gadget, as a journal he planned to bring for his son, and created numerous other similar transfer gadgets.
However, he was momentarily brainwashed by Leviamon, who tempted him to burn down the forest so he could claim the research for himself and be admired by others. Furthermore, Leviamon forced him to hand over all of his transfer gadgets and used it to summon Digimon into the human world, so it could appear in the human world and destroy everything. Gankoomon found him hurt and took him into a cave to take care of him. Hajime asks Gankoomon to arrive to the human world and take care of his son, something that he was hesitant to do as he would most certainly face Bloom Lordmon's wrath and will not be able to survive without him. Hajime reassures him that he would be fine and uses the transfer gadget prototype to summon Gankoomon into the real world.
